September--what to consider?

Recommended Posts

Proving I have it bad, I am considering a 30 day trip to Pattaya in September, as well as the 3 month trip starting next January. I know it will still be raining in September, possibly almost certainly a lot. Anything else to be concerned about?

Bugger all! This is the best time of year to go. Its hot, mainly dry except when it rains and in Pattaya you are never more than a few metres from a bar to rest up between showers. Dont think, just go!

I was in Pattaya last September. Bring a umbrella and you'll be OK.

I have been in Pattaya almost every season and the only time the rain has been an issue, and this is about three times in the last ten years, is when there is a cloud burst. I have been up to my waist in water and fallen down a hole that was two feet under water and ripped my pants (I was carrying a girl home from the X Zone at the time)but its such a rare thing that I discount it as being important. The rain that I associate with Pattaya in 'winter' is a sharp shower that is over in minutes and is not worth worring about.

Two things you have to say about my good friend Teelack:

1. A true gentleman

2. Not easily put off

PS I’ve been in September, usually for a ten-day stint, and not had a rainy day. Bring a brolly just in case and don’t forget a clean change of money.

As I recall, this last year in September, we had heavy, sometimes torrential rains, that caused some minor flooding.

The year before, September was mild and October was simply awful...that's when you had to wade thru thigh deep water on 2nd Road and thru Marine Plaza.

So, the answer is...it depends.

My vacation schedule was such that I often came in September, although I would try to make it late in the month in the hope of getting a bit of dryer weather (early Nov).

I came to think it was the best time of year to come, particularly compared to peak season, or Songkran, or hot season. I liked it to be a bit less crowded and the girls a little hungrier.

Only thing I would add is with the water comes the mosquito's, bitten more then usual in the big floods 2 years ago, take precautions and all will be great.

I have been numerous times in September. Never had a problem. Just take an umbrella and you will be fine. I'm also coming to Thailand in September but not sure if it will be a Pattaya trip. Maybe an up country trip only.

Im heading over in September also,

My first time in Pattaya or thailand for that matter.

Going with a family member who knows Pattaya very well, though he is unsure if he can make it, so possibly be on my own for the first 2 weeks of setember.

The boys at Rovers will look after me I have been told :)
