NEED way to pattaya floating market =D

Recommended Posts

Yes if you are in Pattaya, head out on one of the 3 major roads, take a right at the T junction, heading South. That is Sukhumvit,

If you rent a little motorcycle it is easy, but a bit dangerous.

If there are a few of you, you could have a private hire of a baht bus.

This place has to be one of the most pointless journeys for tourists in Pattaya. Same shit as all the markets like Buakhao, Walking Street etc., for more money. The water is like a swamp or sewer.

Busloads of Asian tourists descend upon it as well. And school class trips , just a throng of tools buying nothng at all unique.

There are so many better excursions like Nong Nooch than this clip joint.

Nong Nooch is also south of Pattaya on the main road that the floating market is on. I would guess about 5-10 kilometers past the floating market. There is an admission charge of 500 THB per adult that includes both the park and a cultural/elephant show. There are 4 shows per day and the times are 9:45am,10:45am,3:00pm and 4:00pm. Not sure how full the morning shows are since I never seem to wake up early enough but the afternoon ones are usually packed. Nice place to spend a day if you are into flowers and gardens. Not sure what you mean by "remarkable action" but it is a family/tourist place only.

According to the thread in the hotels section, Lovetravelling is two teenage girls.

I agree that it is a waste of time, and money. I went there on a motorbike to see what it was about. Saw the 200 baht entrance fee and turned around. If you have a work permit or are Thai, then entrance is free, however.

I have a friend that works there and I drove out to see her. We met at the MC parking area at the south end and near the gated entry. She then had me drive a bit more south and then down one of the small alleys down a back road. The back entrance was not guarded and we just walked in….

And also i see most of reviews give attention to pattaya which take about 2hrs. I dont know how to go hua hin. Is it complicated? I ask it bcos i just gonna take bus , not hire taxi.

Thanks for much help friends :)

Hua Hin of course is the other direction but there are no gogo's and It's a more laid back but nicer town overall. There is the King's old summer residence that is perfect to wander around in. The floating market in Patts is terrible but the one in Hua Hin isn't worth changing your plans just to visit.

You might be better off going to the new water-park.

If you do decide against Pattaya and go to Hua Hin there are buses from the airport. I've never taken them myself as I always arrive after they finish operating for the day but there are alternatives to taxis.

Thanks for the link Steamer, some useful information there.

The bus from the airport is 345 baht ( i think) and starts at 7:30 am and leaves about every 2 hours.I did that last trip and it was a quick and comfortable ride.

Depending on how you get to Thailand, there are buses from Bangkok also so you do not need to go to the airport just to catch a bus.

There is a train from Bangkok. Hua Hin to Bangkok took 5 hours and I won't be doing that again.

Both areas have beaches but Pattaya is much dirtier and not good for swimming. Ferries to Koh Larn are fast and easy to catch.

Hua Hin has nicer beaches. It also is a tourist destination for Thais.

I think u all had been to hua hin.Is there any tourist attraction in there?? I think now thoroughly about beach trip. Afraid my choice would waste my time.

I saw thai videos in hua hin. Think there is alittle go gos in nightlife or somehow nothing i guess so. No crowdeds along beach or may be it is low season. I cant make decision.

Anyway thanks for concerns and give much help to me :)

How is the best route from central pattaya to floating market?

My 1st travelling to pattaya and request for how.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to go there? It's not a real floating market, just a tourist trap.

I forgot about the entry fee.

So stinky water, overpriced crap that you can get in Pattaya, a trip to get there, and the insult of paying to get robbed.

The last time I went (relative in town), it was still free entry..... it was too much!!!!!

I was dumbfounded to hear they had initiated an entry charge.

It is just so easy, up comes a coach-load who have pre-paid, have no warning it isn't worth it and absolutely no chance of a refund.

I always get a good laugh at the Sophon advert where a well known voice about town tells us a visit will help us 'understand Thai culture' as we see a shirtless fat guy wandering around the place on screen!

The bar area is only a few blocks. I stayed at the Jed Pee Nong hotel. 2 blocks to the beach and across the street form the bar area. There is a several post long trip report by Barrief that covers a lot of what happens there---if you can access the members area..
