Is the demo affecting tourism....you bet it is

Recommended Posts

I was meant to be going about now, but am going to wait, or just miss los and do Cambo and PI. Bkk was meant to be the highlight of the trip.

All the lads I know who live in Bangkok say business as usual , AC is dead quiet,,,

It's the risk of getting delayed on my way to and from the airport and ongoing disruption regarding flights and hotels. I was thinking a few days Bkk, - PP - a few days Bkk- PI - to Bkk. And Patts in there at some point. Although I'm not liking the sound of the Pattaya TRs ( no girls/ agency girls/ lonely mothers / sitting being ignored like a piece of vomit while the girls play with their phones !) , it would be crazy though, to travel 7,000 miles then not visit Patts. I still think Patts could be a good choice to live, but maybe not so good for a holiday nowadays.

Exactly my thoughts...living here is still good...not only because of the girls ( all we have a stable regular base ) but the overall experience... But being a short time, unknown monger tourist... the scene is hopeless...even if a LDOP...

Read a report a couple of days ago about Chinese tourism to Thailand. Stated that many Chinese travel to Bangkok and Pattaya for Chinese New Year, however, this year it is down 90%. Not sure where I read it, but probably the Wall Street Journal.

Chinese tour groups are no problems apart to infest the sidewalk.... the japanese and korean yellow fever infests the GOGO bars are the big-big problem...( at least for the farang mongers... not for the bars )

Hmm, an email from a friend in Bangkok suggested otherwise with shots going off not far from his home.

He was planning to stay indoors for election day.

The issue is simple for me. I just cut out Bangkok from my trips other than the airport. I would rather go to Pattaya and then perhaps on to Laos or Cambodia so for me cancellation is not an option. When however there is violence in Pattaya itself than this may be the time to consider Bali, Vietnam or wherever. Roll on late February when I get back to Pattaya.

On Thai Visa just now, Rice Farmers have blockaded every major road from the South into Bangkok. Say they are staying put until they get their money.

Motorway 7 to the airport from here is still open I think.
