Can anyone recommend a good hotel that is popular with English and Thai families? And not overrun with Russians.

P.S. I'm staying there with my partner and our two children visiting some friends for a few days.

P.S.S. Sorry to be blunt I'm not going into a character assassination of Russians in Pattaya.I just prefer not to stay in the same hotel as them.

I regularly use Sabai Wing in Soi 1, which is more or less over the road from Big C.

I usually go for a ‘deluxe pool view room’ at around 1250-1650 a night.

There always seem to be family groups there – some may be Russian, but have never caused me a problem.

I second the recommendation of some of the Sabai places. Sabai Lodge, Sabai Inn, Sabai resort, etc. They're all down near Big C and you should be able to get a room for less than 2000 baht.

Re my #8 above, I'm currently in Sabai Wing on Soi 1. When I stayed here in March it was 1,650 per night for my usual 'deluxe pool view' room. This time I booked at 1,350, but when I arrived I was told I'd been given a special price of 1,150.

Just when you think nothing will surprise you in Pattaya, something does - you get a discount without even asking for one!

PS They also have a sign up at the moment: 'Promotion 990', although I'm guessing that this is for one of the (very acceptable) standard rooms.

Edit in: All prices 'room only', but include tax & service charge.

thanks I'll check out The Haven it looks ideal. A haven from Ruskies I hope.

I have stayed at The Haven before and enjoyed it. It is not however the quiter part of town, if you want quieter i would suggest North Pattaya. Check for deals in the Holiday Inn, or look to Sabai Lodge and A-1

Close to the beach and Royal Garden Plaza

I stayed there before a few years ago and that was the last time, booked 3 rooms for family 2 rooms AC's did not work, I ask the maid about turning it in and she said all the rooms same. Bad service after you wait a long time to get it but the food was good and you have to wait a long time to get that too.

residence gardens is good but out of the way, you have to get a baht bus and they are full of russians, usually end up walking as all russians are going back and forth to jomtien

10-15 minute stroll to WS.
