Since I read 'BKK 8' I've understood that there are 3 types of taxi drivers: the 'belt and braces' gang, (amulets and seat-belts), then the slow, safety first, belted-up drivers, and finally the terrifying, 'it's in the hands of the gods' taxi drivers ...........The latter believe not only will the amulets, inscriptions by monks and regular offerings of bottles of red soda and cigars will not only protect their lives but also call down vengeance on anyone that cuts in front!!

 

 

 

I know that when they built Suvarnabhumi so many workers died that they built a block of apartments to house all the dead spirits.........They take this stuff very seriously.

 

But what's great about the Thais is even with that being so, that they can make fun of themselves too.

 

 

Out of interest has anyone seen inside the cockpit of a Thai Airways flight?

No doubt there'll be a Buddha on the dashboard, an amulet and garlands hanging from above and the monks will have daubed a Buddhist yantra on the overhead panel...
