Does the "cameras not working" excuse work with the police?

Recommended Posts

Every time there is a scuflle with security in a gogo or some other place the cameras are all broken. If I was the police I'd immediately arrest everyone in management for lying to the police and sort it out later.

Just curious if anyone has experience with this? Surely the police know it's an excuse.

Here one example but certainly not the only example:

It is a long time since the regulation came out requiring bars to have CCTV for security purposes.

There has not been, that I have heard. any further checks on places to ensure they are maintained, shit even City Hall can't keep it's own system around town up and running.

City council Chairman Anan Ankanawisan Dec. 1 estimated that half the city’s cameras are broken and have been for years

The old saying in my Engineering background was, if it works don't fix it. In Thailand that has been shortened to don't fix it.

Couple weeks ago there was a news article on a Thai channel, and the policeman claimed Pattaya would have 367,000 CCTV camera's up and running by 2019 !!! They can't even keep the one's they have running, but 367K ? Hell that would be camera's on everything that doesn't move, and might include something's that do move !! HA! HA! HA!

From a beer bar owners perspective, a Camera or security system is probably an unecessary expense, something that is probably not kept up to date and only looked at when there is an issue in the bar. As time goes on and it's not used or looked at, it might well be broken and the owner not aware until they need to check it.

The more cynical of us would argue that if it puts the bar in a bad light, then maybe it is better to have it not working, also any other innocent guys who were in the bar at the time might not want their mugshot posted on global news feeds and same for the girls who don't want their family in the village to know they are working in SE Asias biggest knocking shop. Understandable I guess.

Anyway, that's the best looking farang woman I've seen on Soi 6 for a while...anyone know what bar she's working in?
