Soi 15 update from this morning.

Quite a good example of deja vu!

One danger I noticed with the new pavers on the north end of the beach footpath is if you're walking south it's not obvious the footpath has a drop off with two steps down.

The cone on the left helps, but what they really should have done is use a solid line of colored pavers on the top edge.

Think this guy will be waiting a long time to use the shower.

The fancy "5G" display in use. Being the CC that I am, I'm thinking printing up and hanging a banner for different events would be just as effective, look just as good, and be a hell of a lot cheaper. But then the brown envelopes would be a lot lighter too.

The footpath at the intersection of Klang is getting a makeover.

On my ride south on Beach Rd the 5G sign in the previous picture was the only one working.

And today's Soi 15 update

Dear me, for what is the 3rd or 4th iteration one would hope a good design would come out of it. I am still having walking issues since my last bad interaction with Pattaya paving five or six weeks ago.

've no doubt I'm probably alone in this sentiment, but as a mtn bike rider I really like what they've done to Soi 15. The entrance to the dirt course is a fairly easy pockmarked concrete surface.

As a pedestrian that was nearly clobbered by a truck being driven as if nobody else in the world existed.... I might feel differently.

Definitely wrote what I posted with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

You do have to have your wits about you to be walking, or riding through an active construction zone. Not just the trucks and backhoes moving about that you have to watch out for, but also unstable ground around open pits that one could easily slip and fall into.

A muddy update on Soi 15 after this morning's rain.

Yes, so far this rainy season, they have 'got away with it', there having been very little rain.

Hope you have mud guards on that bike

Yep. Don't want to be one of those riders with a mud stripe going up their back.

Another shower? Have they finished the first one yet? Pic below from the 12th, and it's been like that for several weeks before that pic.

i have to love Thai engineers. Thailand only place where water runs up hill and they do not need to add water to

teat for leaks when finished.🚫

Are they trying to set those trees on fire, once again???

I saw on another forum a picture the section of pipe with the access tube "welded" to it in the ground, but with the weld having broken. I didn't think of it when I first saw them redneck engineering an access tube, but I can understand now how the idea might not have been such a good one. While fairly stiff the HDPE can flex when the fill is placed around and over the pipe. Add to that the weight of any machinery used to pack the fill down and it's not surprising the welded joint would separate.

I believe the picture below is the section where the weld broke. Hope whatever repair they made holds up.

At the pace they're putting the concrete road in, there's no way they'll have it finished by the end of this month.
