  1. I took some of that stuff back once as my brother was a hand-roller. He tossed it and that says a LOT!
  2. Qatar sent me one claiming 40% discounts but my route to Manchester was still 92k. I may end up on KLM or Finn yet and straight into the MAN Holiday Inn Express and train in the morning. Finn have a 9am start which actually is an awkward time to go from Pattaya. As I learned with a pal staying with me at the moment who will fly Omani at 9am., Too early for the buses for him. (I don't want to be driving him all the way to the airport). I was flummoxed yesterday when he said he had booked the bus from Jomtiem to the airport at 9pm as Bell left too early at 7pm, so will need a ride from me heading in the opposite direction! I said what was wrong with a taxi straight from the house, and he said 'in his experience the cheaper bus option was always best!' Some people are just cheap, setting off 12 hours before his flight to save £12 on the taxi fare!
  3. Hot and sunny again....

  4. Aramex ban electronic cigarettes too! I am wondering whether a certain 'Monopoly' had these added.
  5. Whilst hearing reports of them not having the suitable equipment for a fire in a taller building, and considering the huge monstrosities going up (near the Nua Bus station for example) I doubt any City has. If you ride through the new Pattaya City Hospital you can see they have nearly a dozen vehicles there and at least one has an extendible ladder. I was surprised they had so many..... not saying they all work mind. The issue would be getting to the fire with the traffic!
  6. My pal recently hired a scooter and no extra insurance was available. (Only the government obligatory 3rd party, CTPL included) I do recall many years ago a company called Mai-Pang who rented out bikes and supplied supplementary insurance and she had a few of those tourist thank you letters suggesting it had worked. I believe you can find them at Canterbury Tales if they are still in operation. Also on Facebook. One of the guys who advertises here (Pool Hustler) may come back here with a more definitive answer, I am also sure the topic has been discussed on the Forum and a search may find it.
  7. The A-Team.
  8. I just had one sent to me via DHL (actually a credit card), from the UK. They had much easier to find agents/locations than FedEx. In the USA I believe that would not be an issue, simply go to each website and plug in an address, you can probably look up their prices at the same time. The DHL came pretty fast, posted Monday, arrived quite early Wednesday. Not cheap though, about £35, ($50),
  9. Skyscanner is throwing a few options at me, seems like Etihad have some new Biz Class fare that is cheaper, but does not include the limo service. Not a big deal for me as I only ever used it at the Manchester end anyhow. They are coming in at about 87,500 baht. Even cheaper, KLM are coming in at about 80.5k. Don't like landing in UK late evening as likely I would need a hotel at the airport, then get a train in the morning.
  10. I saw a girl playing The Magic Flute once but not as Mozart intended.
  11. This is the place on Sukhumvit, on the corner of Soi 42. I often turn there and cut through via soi Sophon to 3rd Rd. There is (or was) a big 10ft statue of a Muay Tai boxer there, I wonder if they are selling it, would look great in my garden! The restaurant on the side seemed to do a good trade, well not any more. Some talk on Thai Visa that the ACs had all been serviced and one of the compressor units started the fire. Good job it didn't happen while the place was open.
  12. Snatch
  13. Were those pics taken before or after the heavy rainstorm we had Tuesday? Just wondering as I believe it was enough to cause flooding on Sukhumvit near Tai.
  14. Substantial and much needed rain yesterday.

  15. I shall dust off my tux and make sure I have plenty of 20 baht notes. Will they be selling the flower garlands?
  16. Yep, having the AC turn off in the night isn't working for me now!

  17. The Great Race
  18. Barry Kenyon has posted a half page letter on this in The Pattaya Mail.
  19. It wouldn't surprise me, the taxis there are running an overpriced and limited service, I do hope this is not true, not an easy place to get around without your own transport or a rented bike. I have taken my truck over there but it was a long long time ago. What will be the point of the RORO ferries then? They will lose business. I doubt they would stop locals taking their cars after a drive from Bangkok, I am guessing they want to stop 'taxis' to support their overpriced local ones.
  20. Spartacus.
  21. You are permitted to use the internet after a 24 hour 'wait', just to move things along. (I see you still have not read the rules! ) Whether repeat posts get 'pulled up' is perhaps a little random,
  22. You are right, common in many a beer bar, played often for a drink or two..... the devil's play-blocks!
  23. Not until he has rubbed your noses in the ground a bit more!
  24. Next, they stop the evils of draughts!
  25. I think that is the one with Alec Guinness in it.
