Seems odd that you have to sign this document which outlines the punishments for not doing what you are at immigration to do! I don't know why you need to even sign a document anyhow, unless it is seen as not a regulation or law, but a contract/agreement you enter into based on getting your extension of stay.

I thought that was Seaside 1 and Seaside 2 was on Soi Chayaphum a few doors down from Crazy Daves. It always had bland but filling British comfort food but I also stopped going some years back. Service then had got a bit dopey. They seemed to prefer to leave the AC off and the door open. Don't like dogs wandering around in a restaurant. I think I had 2 bad meals consecutively......I would not have risked lamb. I was quite a fan of braised steak and chips. It is more comfortable to eat pub grub (which is often poor too) in aircon for me.

Yes an obvious alternative...... duh for me! Not that much difference in time to Swampy airport than it is to UTP!

To be honest I agree about the driving here, no fun at all and why I am mostly on the bike. It may be pleasant to be sat in AC but it takes forever to get any-place and is a constant frustration. It only gets easier as you get further from town, although near 'my place' isn't so good. The surface of HWY 36 has been churned up so badly in places it is like you are on a Big Dipper ride above 100 kph and you are thrown all over the place. I might bang my head like you do often. HWY 36 has a bad reputation and rightly so, The trips over the hills to Issarn aren't bad once you get well down 331 and past Ammata. You don't want a BMW, it's a tw**s's car!

Anybody out there recently renewed their Retirement Extension, or obtained it for the first time. Was it a normal processing time? I am asking wrt Chonburi (Pattaya/Jomtiem), but other areas are of interest too. It is normally a one day process, get in there early morning with your documents and money, and you can pick up the completed renewal the same afternoon. The reason I ask is that I have heard of a case of renewal in the Bangkok area, that so far has taken 10 days...... the cause being cited that they are applying the rules strictly, and as such the person's Embassy is required to check if a person is wanted for any reason, perhaps background checks.

Well good, it is crap these days, particularly during the busy times/high season. This time of year though they are beeping at you on the baht buses when some months back they would knock you down if you didn't jump. And I saw one of them Pattaya buses moving down Klang on Monday, haven't seen one out and about for a while, last time was a herd of them with for sale signs on them at the dealers just North of Threpasit on Suk.

Actually Gonzo I think you are wasting money unless you see some real damage/ problem with the tyres. Money that could have been spent on a full service carrier with better connections maybe?

I would be interested to know what the standard metered fare is these days..... I did hear it had gone up. I recall it should start at 35 baht for the first 2km then 5 baht per km. Your guy was doing well at 1km/30 sec.... 120 kph!

Do you park your car out of the sun? The only other thing I could think of would be sun damage, this can cause cracking in the rubber and if this is deep, be of concern.

20,000 KM shouldn't require tyre changes unless you have been doing skidding 180's, have a tracking problem, or some physical damage from a hard hit. My replacement at 90k was due to a tracking problem that did in 2 tyres before I got it sorted.
