I think Bangkok isn't a factor, a lot of people head out for NYE. There is a lot of live music on in Pattaya this year which brings a lot of Thais into town.Then there is the compulsory 'Gala Dinner' a lot of places force upon you!

Well airfares to the far East were beyond most people over 20 years ago perhaps.The UK went through a spell of property inflation and general improvements in personal wealth..... or was it access to debt. Hard to imagine that airfares have got cheaper of late unless one applies accountancy tricks or the confusing caveat 'in real terms' Taxes have gone from low levels to £300. Weren't oil prices around $20/barrel if one ignores the 1991 spike? Currently $95.

I was up that way yesterday and getting to and from Jomtiem is much improved since the completion of the dual carriageway. Of course it can be pretty slow from Pattaya to/from the flyover but Jomtiem is becoming more attractive, and there sure are some large developments there now. (Amazon, over 700 units!)

Me too..... a friend previously offered me a condo...now he says it isn't available!!!!! I need a room tomorrow........ I just spoke to another friend who arrived today and he seems to think there are plenty of places...... Last year I got a room at 1pm, but by 3 the large (and not great) hotel was full. I wish they had the "NO" "VACANCY" lights that you see in Blackpool!

You can only go by the numbers.... Dollar strengthens against Thai baht yesterday. Also against the AUD.... my attempt to relate with another currency that is out of the group but strong. But I think the underlying improvement in the USA labour market and factory output helped the old greenback. The dollar wants to rise.....

Darn, what a chore. I position all my English language channels at the low end and have obviously got used to where they are. I also put all her favourite ones (for those awful soaps) in a block. It takes me a while and then I have to match my other TV as well.You are right, they don't seem to have much respect for all their customers. Still it is a lot cheaper than the satellite stuff. Switched on the TV this AM and was surprised to see a Russian channel where the BBC should be. My sophon channels are all screwy, missing channels, channels in different places. Not just the TV as it is the same on another! Anybody in the Pattaya area seen the same..... don't know if it is the total network or just my area!

I have often wondered.... do they record your actual IP at the proxy server? Are they required to by local or international law?Surely if they had YOUR anonymity at heart it would be prudent of them not to keep such records, and perhaps inform you when the subpoena/court order lands on the desk, and you would stop using that particular proxy. There is also the possibility of a proxy server based in some country that might laugh at a subpoena/court order from say the USA?

Other than that, it was OK then? I always had the opinion that they were awful on the ground (check in, boarding etc) but the service on board was ok (back then it seemed to be mostly Middle eastern young males who were great).
