I tend to think you pay 200 baht for a haircut purely because of where it is located, in the centre of Pattaya and catering to falangs/tourists. Too many bloody puffs cutting hair in town...... I go near where I live, that is what I call well located. Get the shaved neck and ears, nose hair and eyebrows done and the girl gives me a nice shoulder massage afterwards. She has strong hands too. It is airconditioned, I have a TV to watch and it is always fun trying to communicate with her limited English and my screwy Thai. Sixty baht is a bargain. Sure, knowing where to get a good haircut in town is useful, but good and bad charge 200 there!

Ah yes, this was mentioned to me at HSBC when I was in the UK. As a retired person the requirements for having a Premier Account didn't appeal. I can do better with the 50k than the interest offered there. I think my non-resident status for the UK was an issue too.

Well it can't be initiated until 9am Monday UK time, so I will see how it looks Monday. There were a lot of exchange rate changes yesterday, SCB had 16 issues! Link Highest was 48.87. So a volatile day on the markets. You did good, (if the weasel words didn't affect the actual exchange rate,) but I don't have a HSBC acct here. Last time I used HSBC for a transfer I was pissed off as it went from my Manchester branch via Barclays who took another £30 quid (not to LOS). I actually haven't tried HSBC to Thailand yet. How much were you charged?

It will affect the price of rice for sure. And what about what is going on in the UK affecting the old £? The last big impact was old Melvyn again, causing a 50 satang drop. There has been partial recovery of that fall over the last 48 hours. Inflation reports may cause the foolish to believe a UK interet rate rise is possible, but that isn't going to happen. I think Thai flood effects have been factored in already. I too am waiting to make a transfer UK->baht, and have deluded myself to think I can wait for 48.6-48.7 rate to be hit.

I would jusst like to chuck in a good result. I bought a LCD TV which was on sale in what was then Carrefour. Damned thing kept turning itself off (I have a Philips DVD/Audio centre does the same). I was miserable with the prospect of carrying it up the escalator looking like a berk, until I realised there was an LG service centre on Suk. Into the back of the truck, they seemed to know about the 'ploblem' there and sent a guy to carry it out for me, and I got it back fixed without charge after 4 days. I had suffered the problem for over 2 months.

Not really, I doubt they would cheat me in there, but the 110 did look like 140. I have seen this before else where with a screwy 1, funny how the leading 1 looked normal. The total was correct at 185....(+75 baht for a happy hour bottle). Who knows for sure eh?

There are a lot of Thai people and Thai food restaurants, hookers and GO-GO bars and traffic jams! Road signs in Thai language, didn't see many of those in Lima, nor London. You can buy edible bugs on the street. I don't think that Pattaya is particularly like London nor Lima, haven't been outside LA airport so cannot comment on that.

Quite sure I only paid 110 in Champions only Thursday. I recall as when I first looked I thought it said 140 and was corrected by the staff after the smelling salts took effect.
