  1. Aye but you Yorkshire lads are so nice. I felt a similar way in a hotel full of Chinese.
  2. I might also try looking for a private sale and save on the commissions. Those Estate agents inflate the prices.
  3. Of course plenty of people watched it in Patts, and in Thailand, despite the late hour. (Well a late hour for me but a regular hour to be in a bar for many). Quite disappointing that England's top side can be made to look so second rate.
  4. Yes that sounds pretty good, although my friend was trying to move a larger amount from Halifax and met with problems. I have never gone back to them since they cheated me out of money when they went from a Building Society to a bank (1997). Coincidentally I have an old Sunday Mail nearby which has the headline 'Santander is Still the worst offender' Halifax, now HBOS, is owned by Lloyds, another bank I dumped many years ago when they withdrew some local facilities and said I could go 15 miles to another town for that service! I went 50 yards down the High St to another bank. Halifax has only been a clearing bank for 6 months, I bet you these transfers will go up! But again, I reiterate, why is there any exchange rate at the UK end? I always transfer £, and the Thailand bank make the exchange. How quickly was the money transferred?
  5. The Robert Mitchum one.
  6. Where BigD is concerned I doubt you would get much of an argument here. But knock off perfume... well it can be a reasonable gift to a few BGs, how do you feel about knock off clothes, handbags and watches?
  7. They got a cup or two, not that one, again. Not doing too well on either side of the Humber are we?
  8. I thought the best advice was to chuck it in the pool instead of boring the tits off everyone playing with the damned thing.
  9. Well of course there should not be an exchange rate if you transfer £ to LOS, and anyone who transfers Baht is really throwing money away. You make Santander sound hopeless (formerly the Abbey National Building Society I think). I have heard complaints regarding Halifax, they put daily limits on you (10k) despite it being your money. Many times I hear bad tales of Barclays when attempting international transfers. I use HSBC and Standard Chartered and you never know when some interposing/clearing bank will come into the arrangement and skim another unauthorised charge off you, effectively hitting you up twice. (I paid nearly US$60 for one and £45 for another when hit twice.) I have had success going into the bank and complaining about this and getting a charge refunded, but this is rarely possible for me. It seems the banks prefer poor people who live off credit rather than solvent guys who do the odd international transfer. A necessary evil like Government.
  10. Yeah my TGF sold her empty bottles to some girl peddling around the streets. She offered me some porno DVDs.
  11. It may be a bit late for you but I normally top up my phone using Bangkok Bank internet banking. (A slight correction, I do it using my phone, rather than my computer) I see no reason why you could not top up to another's phone.
  12. That is the way to go, buy coming into Bangkok.Doha looked expensive to me and there is always currency changing expense. As to Heathrow, well apparently T5 is pretty expensive, more than say 3.
  13. The Pirates of Blood River.
  14. My transfers to LOS cost me the $25+500 baht. But I had to pay a bill to a French account recently in USD, I paid my $25 at my end, but another $28 vanished en-route. Cheaper to send money 6000 miles overland than about 100km over the channel. I hate banks...well European ones, the Thai ones are much better.
  15. I never use that one, is it 'reliable'?I normally go to the one in front of Homeworks, South Pattaya/Sukhumvit BigC. There is one in the corridor to the toilet at Carrefour, but I have only spotted it on-line once. Yes a local bank ATM is a good option, I have also had 25k from a Bangkok Bank ATM. A £300 limit, only 15,000 baht, is a bit limiting.
  16. There are more Thais in Pattaya than any one other nationality. And I am guessing anyone offering babysitting services will supply a Thai. I responded to the comment that no-one in Pattaya is to be trusted with kids......Although there have been a few incident of late. Link
  17. Sweeney (of course)
  18. Pah, likely it happens more here than many western countries. Likely there are few as most have an abundance of relatives who will do the job or the kid gets taken to work.
  19. I went to ARC on Sukhumvit and they came round and fitted one for me, it was all straightforward. Just shop around and compare prices. A studio likely needs about 12,000 BTU and they seem to be around 20,000 baht, installed. Generally they hit you up for an extra charge by saying the distance to the compressor is more than what is included, so beware of that. You will need space in your electrical breaker box for a dedicated breaker, 32 amp. Numchai in Naklua or again on Sukhumvit is another option and they are quite good on service.
  20. I tried the cheque option once with my Bangkok bank account, passing them a UK cheque here. They charged me for transferring the money from BB London to LOS. I do a telex transfer now each charged at about $25, then have to pay 500 baht when it arrives here. (I live in LOS). I don't think you can do better other than finding another USA bank with cheaper charges..... just transfer larger amounts, less frequently, to make the total charges less.
  21. Tom Courtenay.
  22. Oh FFS Joe!Why not edit your 'Interests', it needs to be a little longer then each of your posts occupy the complete screen with blank page!
  23. Yes, as soon as I started to read your post Dubai came to my mind, and their unbelievable prices on single malt scotch! Not now though. I am stunned by the price of a sandwich and beer at swampy these days.
  24. Well I know the Hilton offers a babysitting service, but likely only for guests. This came up under Google...
