  2. I was in T2 myself and in one of the airline lounges, where I would hope to get a freebie. To be honest I got fed up of trying out the several wireless networks I could see there (the ones I wanted not showing up) so just got the dongle out.

  4. Quite right and thanks for the update on the Tesco ones. When I go to Homeworks I take the umbrella out of the truck. I wouldn't risk the one in Carrefour, US on Tuesday again.

  6. On my recent trip the only place I found free Wi-Fi was at Bangkok airport. Couldn't get it at Doha or Manchester. Manchester surprised me, I thought I would find it there, but the few networks I logged on to wanted money. I had expected my 3G dongle contract to allow me onto some wireless network (The Cloud, or BT Openzone)but no signal to be found. Sign of the times these days, very little offered for free, even if free is at the cost of an elitist ticket price.
  7. Emirates, for example, seem to charge more for legs where the A380 is utilised. I noticed when trying to book recently. That suggests there is more of a demand for the A380 seats. Even on a personal level, I would like to give the Emirates A380 Biz Class a go, it is just that I prefer to pay less not more. As to when the A380 will be profitable... He said the A380 program was not behind its production plan for 18 months and should be profitable in 2014 or 2015. Source. Plenty of places where you can find such a statement, whether it is credible, well, who knows, money gets moved around from column to column doesn't it?
  8. A more relevent pont I read recently was that effectively the EU is subsidising the demise of it's own airline industry. Carriers like Emirates and a few others have made big purchases from Airbus using 'credit/finaqncial arrangements' offered from Europe. That in itself is Europe subsidisnig Airbus, but nothing new there. Sadly, those very aircraft then compete with the European carriers, Lufthansa, AF/KLM, BA etc etc. The number of flights leaving daily from Manchester to the Middle East now certainly is not all oil worker passengers. Travellers to Far afield will use these ME carriers, which often offer better prices and quality of service than say BA. I use them myself. But I have a phobia about BA and Heathrow.

  11. Yes just go to the Air Asia site. Book directly with them early and you could save a bundle, I just did a quick check and got 2500 baht for a return flight in early November. Irrelevant that you are in the UK. The booking will accept a UK CC and you will have to take the hit on currency exchange.
  12. No Country For Old Men.... (Modern enough for youy buggers?)

  14. I believe so, doubt they will stop this lucrative earner that doesn't upset any locals.
  15. Well it is certainly cheap enough, when I went it was completely free. It was about 3 weeks back, I think it was the 29th May. I was able to walk over the bridge and get to the pits which was great as a friend was racing. This was 1000 cc bikes. You are correct that I couldn't really see what was going on behind but I was able to get right up next to the track. being right on Rt 36 makes it easy to drive to and park. Next meeting is 3rd July, election weekend, so if the bars are closed it might be a good day out. Mind you there are a lot of twisted individuals go there, I was oggling up the pretty girls carrying the countdown cards, but most of the others were looking at bikes and touching themselves up.
  16. Now now, 80,000 baht might get a few of us expats through the shorter months.
  17. Well I might go along with the possibility a TG interprets a well dressed person with an affluent one. But I have also seen plenty of girls go off with scruffy guys. I woulldn't put too much weight into a one-off event with a scruff who also happened to be a cheap charlie. I still believe the girls go for someone with a smile and a well padded wallet.I recall some half wits on this very board going on about buying local deodorants, as the girls preferred the smell and would be more likely to go with you!
  18. Let us just move on and stay in the real world with....Anthony Hopkins...
  19. Aha, so Insomnia is operating under a restaurant licence!Nah, I'll go along with the big-bribes.

  21. Had you lived in easy proximity of a border the visa runs would be acceptable. I just thought the new Non-Imm O from the UK would be the best for you. Everything you want is not always possible.
  22. So I am kinda thinking they rather like this recent Police effort.....now.
  23. is it? Richard Gere.... (who also flashed his bits, not too impressive..... )
  24. He may be somewhat phased by a guy eating the bananas then......
  25. From what you have said in the OP and the thread, I am inclined to disagree with Joe and say get another non-Imm O multiple while you are in the UK. Particularly if your couple of months there will be mostly after Christmas. It will give you a potential 15 months beyond your return from the UK. Then perhaps you can make the spousal extension without paying the 'fee' of 19,000 baht. Be aware that I hear Hull are not as easy going as they used to be with their non-Imms, and you will be on the 90 day visa runs to Cambodia or wherever. Good luck.
