  1. Did you join the board specifically to get into this argument? Perhaps to help a friend or yourself in need?It looks that way, welcome to the board by the way.
  2. Interesting Joe, so how does PT remember where I left off when I move to another computer????
  3. Good Karma will beset you....
  4. Could you recommend a Pattaya dentist who will perform 6 month check-up/scrapes? My UK one retired and I really should get back to regular treatment. (Most in Pattaya seem to be into cosmetic stuff only). I tried to get an appointment at some Pattaya Klang recommended place but waiting list was long.
  5. Cookies are small files left by websites on your computer that track you.Few are malicious and some can help you as when you revisit a site they already know a bit about you. Wikkie cookie. Some anti-virus software will list tracking cookies when you do a scan and give you the option of deleting them. Firefox gives you the option to block them, and delete them under Tools-Options-Privacy-Show Cookies-Remove All. Some sites will not work though if you block their cookies.
  6. The people in the kiosks will try it on sometimes, don't be misled into thinking Thais are any more honest than other people, they are not. People handling money all try it on one time or another. The girl issuing the tickets for the bus from Bangkok to Pattaya will charge you the motorway price and give you a regular ticket. The change from the bar might be a 100 baht note short... (oo solly sir) The currency exchange kiosks will give less than you should get... ( these arrogant pricks don't apologise when caught out as if it is your fault!) The Thais count it infront of them, falangs have less sense and try to play Mr Cool Big man and swagger off without counting it... I always think back to a bar owner who employed a succession of very cute and apparently honest cashiers over a period of many years... he said every single one of them attempted to cheat him. Cheating a falang isn't the same you see....
  7. Where was this falang operating a food stand......?
  8. Yeah, I drop them 10 baht, not much but it seems to surprise them and bring a smile to their face. They seem to have quit cleaning the windscreen these days, but sometimes I get a free bottle of water.
  9. Be a little more specific..... many serviced apartment may claim cooking facilities, but what you generally get is just 2 electric pan-rings. I think by 'cooker' you perhaps mean you need an oven as well, maybe even a grill. This is less common.
  10. I was just looking at Qatar fares Bkk-Manchester and BKK-LHR (Biz Class) and there are better prices available to London, particularly if you use QR613 (daytime flight.) I hope these bargains will come for Manchester flights, or do they collude and keep them up to protect BAs domestic/ shuttle service?
  11. Laab Moo is cooked, or it always is when I get it. Sometimes it gets left sitting around and could be a risk. One of my favourites and generally is cooked fresh.... well apart from the cabbage, string beans and mint. Like you I have had a quite few bad stomachs in many a place, nearly never in Thailand. My bad experiences in other countries (India, Mexico, Bangladesh) make me wary though. To the OP, bratpack is right, Thai food is super, enjoy it. You might get a few chilly after effects though .
  12. killers
  13. You are going to get a set of yes and no answers. Generally food in Thailand is safe.... more so than say India, but I suggest caution. Anything freshly cooked from the wok or BBQ is going to be fine. But beware of those dishes where hot water is simply poured over various ingredients to make a soup.
  14. The Butterfly Effect.
  15. Pulp Fiction
  16. Catch Me If You Can.
  17. Apocalypse Now
  18. I don't think it is that bad... Dr Mick seems to have made a meal of it. It is certainly easier (and cheaper) with the 800k in the bank. Khon Khaen sound a little more stringent. Easier for a 50+yo Brit to get a retirement extension in LOS than a 35yo TG to get a UK tourist visa.
  19. Is that all it is? I have parked in the Avenue and there I am sure it was over 100 baht for a few hours. It's a pity, but in the evenings, getting from Sukhumvit to the RG in a truck takes so long... either Pattaya Tai or Buakhao to take on. I often park in Carrefour and get on a bike when alone. Thanks for the effort MM, I think I shall take a look at that place when I am next on the razzle... I get the TGF to drop me off!
  20. Well I might agree we make the best breakfasts, and the UK (particularly Brum) are becoming world famous for the curries. Wow MM, I never knew there was a restaurant up there, but it is a new area and I think I have only ever walked through it once. But pay for parking......brrrrr
  21. Good Kudos there... £180 pounds saved... a couple of soapies and a few free nights out there.
  22. The Matrix.
  23. Hardly surprising with current events in the ME, and the financial instability there. The Dubai FM has fallen from 1600 to 1375 in the last couple of weeks. The same company cancelled 32 Boeing plane orders last month.... Oil prices are going the wrong way for the Aircraft industry... expect more. Edit...last month not last year!
  24. Agreed, you used it to point out an Indian restaurant to me and I used it as a research tool to confirm the name of another. It certainly shows how things have built up over the intervening 2-3 years. I suppose it is the same as Google Maps where you can pretty much look at any UK street.
