  1. I know that in the UK a minibus is supposed to be limited to 62 mph (100 kph), in LOS I thought the speed limit was 120kph.There was a nasty mini-bus accident of a group travelling between Cha-Am and Phuket in the last several days... and if you ever travel down 36 to Rayong you will be passed by one doing Cambodian Visa runs... unless you drive a Cessna. I have often been a passenger in one and although the driver seemed adept, I was uncomfortable with the speed. Sometimes your driver being competent isn't the only issue.....
  2. I think that is it.... he wasn't in many big films but there were big names in this one...... Pepe.
  3. Well I for one would be glad not to have to report every 90 days.... Sure it isn't often, but it's like going to the airport, you have to switch off and go into a trance so as not to react to having your time wasted or being fucked with. Sure sometimes it is a breeze... sometimes not. I hope Mr Colonel gets rid of that unpleasant man who has the button pushing job who specialises in giving you the wrong form and being rude. I live 12 km North of Pattaya so Jomtiem is a bit further, there is near zero parking, roads that wouldn't be good enough in Zaire, and if I never have to go there again it would be too soon. Pity Internet reporting can't be sorted..... not sure of the postal system.
  4. There is also the aspect of being in the rain which makes a disc a slight worry.A wet road can give you a wheel lock...... and the rain can cause the disc to be weak. I hate riding in heavy rain as I go slowly then assholes in cars get up your ass and honk at you when there is plenty room to go round. Thais seem to think you belong in the gutter where there is 3/4 inches of water!
  5. I would prefer to stay below 120 in a minibus, that driver was going too fast.
  6. Around The World in 80 Days.
  7. If you regard a burger as steak then perhaps you are correct.I always felt the Americans enjoyed their steak pre-chewed!
  8. I thought MM, preferably known as Marty, told us all her name was Pin, not Pim, not Ping. Now here you go telling us all he is wrong, and you are right. What a storm in a teacup.
  9. Yes, I have been searching Ethiad and Qatar and now I ain't so sure. (Manchester) BA of course can gtf.
  10. Obviously aimed at the 'man who can't put his phone down' market......I also like to be in control of the brakes myself, and avoid the front disk on some road conditions, as it can be a little strong and lock up/snatch and put you on the ground. Does the PCX have any features to prevent front wheel lock? Sorry Hamleklek, the scooby-doo (like the Fino) look to be aimed at the girlie market for me too...
  11. Seem to be a few off topic post bouncing around. Back on topic, it's ABSOLUTELY pissing down right now where I live, just north of Pattaya.
  12. High season jinxes? I tried the PBG twice, on recommendations I read here... both times I was unhappy with the wait time and the food. Many Thailand restaurants fall to pieces when they get busy. The Coolhouse has served me a cold pepper steak twice in the last month or so, they won't again. I am not much into up-market eating as I am frequently in a hurry to go on the town and just need a good base to put many beers on. I join the cheap Charlies in The Seasider, consistent basic food if you don't mind the dogs around your ankles. Pete shouldn't need to be told.
  13. Jeez, battery life of 2 days and carping on about it like that is good. I get fed up recharging my mobile every 5. Don't know why they can't use the bigger batteries they put in the cameras instead of those like an after dinner mint.
  14. It just seems worse this year to me. Trips to Jomtiem were always a hassle but the bog standard back down 2nd rd was previously easy. It is a tourist town and the locals thrive on ignorance.
  15. Yeah right.... and who will police that?
  16. Would it not be taken off you as over 100ml of water?
  17. It never rains in February some guy said to me as I peered out of the window in Carrefour, looking at my motorbike parked there, that was last week. Fortunately yesterday I got back ahead of it.... it is deadly out there on a little bike when the rain and strong winds come. I am also going to have to buy a weather-proof light fitting as the fancy one I got from Homepro lets the water in and the bloody bulbs pop at 100+ baht a time. Spent 3x what it cost me for the fitting on bulbs so far. Ah well, it was pleasantly cool and the air was clear later as I drank a cold one looking out over the grass that I didn't have to water......and watching the sodden cat skulk in, head down, was a bit of a chuckle,
  18. The police will get to the bottom of it.

  21. It is utterly infantile and selfish.... truly Thai exaggerated by farang imbeciles.
  22. Absolutely..... I have had to wait for a baht bus for several minutes after a night out... I normally try to get one after walking through soi 15 to Phratumnak, and catch one going straight across Tai down second rd. You can see them being packed in like sardines across the street to go to Jomtiem, and a similar process is going on across Tai, with dozens of empty busses queueing, blocking the road, and again Thais acting like herdsmen. No chance to flag one there... Many pass empty, many seem to refuse, they are basically looking for private hires and the 10 baht pickup system (which I believe is their charter) ignored. I have been there 10 minutes sometimes and I look for a bus with 2-3 Thais in and just jump on. High season antics.
  23. Oh I am sure they have ample experience regarding fitting in.
  24. Thoroughly Modern Millie.
