  1. Well he could turn wine to water.
  2. I put a complaint into Ebay, but like the 64GB thumbdrives from Hong Kong and China, it could be back.
  3. Generally I wouldn't think about it, but I get pissed off at being gouged, and will suffer the inconvenience for spite. It will hurt British carriers, and may even force some of the other bigger carriers to change their hubs if customers decide to do what I do. Generall I fly via the Middle East, and that shows tax of £120. I am thinking that the airport charge (+VAT????) goes on top of that. It seems unfair that airlines and tourists are gouged this way, but the goverment has been spending like a drunken sailor, and there is nowhere else to tax. I suggest any Britsh person who can afford to, pays the tax the once to emigrate!
  4. I guess I shall fly economy to Schiphol, then Biz on to Swampy.
  5. Or you could be sat in the middle of 2 of them!
  6. Yeah, we did that already!
  7. Shortage of cats......?
  8. In Pattaya, the last day will be Monday 19th. I think rogue elements will be about with water in Soi 7-8 etc April 12th.The actual holiday is scheduled for 13-15th April.
  9. The concern is to transit in Mumbai..... If you are starting your journey in London, why transit at all? Eva seems to be the best choice. Might be a consideration for smokers who need the break!
  10. Yes a little bit, I have even had the pleasure to have been scammed a bit too... some thumb drive that was configured to appear to have more capacity than it really had. Let us know if you get the refund and the £50, then we know whether the guy is straight or this is a delaying tactic. You should have actually 'bought' on Ebay, paid viaa paypal, and then I think you get the feedback option. If you bypass Ebay of course you do not. Still the guy has 0 feedback and the condo has been listed 2 times that I see. Enjoy your time in Pattaya.
  11. According to Wikipedia, the A380 has a higher maximum speed. If the figures Wiki quote are incorrect, well then that is up to Wiki.It is an airspeed quote, that will translate to a faster groundspeed for the same conditions. I didn't need to get into an argument over windspeeds, airspeeds, groundspeeds and flight plans nor who is or who is not a pilot. Funny, the definition of airspeed I found....Airspeed is the speed of an aircraft relative to the air, made no mention as to whether it was on the ground or not! Your definition seems to match Wordweb.... But since an aircraft on the ground in a strong wind would have differing ram and static pressures in the pitot probes, I would hesitate to say airspeed was zero, I would say it equals windspeed... but enough semantics. I wish to draw a line here. I will be flying back to the UK soon, hopefully on an A380 as it is faster. You need to get out and enjoy the spring-like weather in the UK, so I hear. Edit...spelling again, not as clever as a pilot!
  12. Where have I mentioned airspeed? I am quite capable of grasping that an aircraft flies in the air, despite not having a pilot's licence. The groundspeed of an aircraft nevertheless has quite a lot to do with with both the aircraft's airspeed, and the speed of that air relative to the ground. But most passengers are only worried about how long it will take to get there aren't they? More strictly, we should be referring to velocity but let us not confuse everyone eh.... speed is a scalar quantity and bears little meaning on how long it takes to get from A to B! Last time I checked, there were no special education qualifications to obtain a pilot's licence, and the arrogance and air of superiority comes free apparently. PS The airspeed of an aircraft on the ground would have everything to do with the wind! Edit...spelling.
  13. Well it isn't actually Songkran yet, and Pattaya is later... But traffic chaaos on beach rd Pattaya is hardly news!
  14. Brianthailand still seems to be offering a condo in Pattaya at £70/week on Ebay. The OP should get some negative feedback put on this guy, and register a complaint or report. Strange there is no evidence of that yet.
  15. Well the jetstream across the Atlantic runs at 150-300 mph so quite possible.
  16. You and Samsonite go ahead and have a conversation then. A bloody Porche and a transit van drive within a gnat's cock of 10 mph in the real world of the M25. The cruise speed of an aircraft has more to do with the head wind anyhow than what Wikipedia and you guys think.
  17. Well for some reason, an orphanage always has a sign in English.... THe Mercy Centre is a well known Pattaya one, supported by many Farang operations. A Google search will turn up plenty of hits..... This one has a webpage...
  18. Change will be available at check-in so plan ahead. (On a flight between say the UK and Spain, will the toilet accept Euros?) (How about London to Geneva where Swiss Francs will be in the pockets) On board £1 coins will be available for £1.25, please have the correct change.
  19. The phrase Is among the fastest airliners in service has no quantitative meaning whatsoever.... Is it the fastest, the second fastest or third.....? The A380 is quoted in Wikipedia as having a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.89 (945 km/h, 587 mph, 510 knots) also a maximum speed of Mach 0.96 (at cruise altitude: 1020 km/h, 634 mph, 551 knots) Apparently the 747-400, is stated as cruising speed Mach 0.85 (567 mph, 493 knots, 912 km/h) Mach 0.855 (570 mph, 495 kn, 917 km/h) --400ER Mach 0.845 (564 mph, 490 kn, 908 km/h) --400F and 400ERF All 747-400 models have a quoted maximum speed of Mach 0.92 (614 mph, 533 kn, 988 km/h) That data can be found further down in Wikipedias page in the specifications details. In a race you don't cruise... I stated that the A380 was a faster aircraft, the data backs that up....
  20. Are we still talking about Air Asia????
  21. Well every group needs it's fall guy!
  22. Hell no, I am staying here.
  23. Yeah, I bet he had all the passengers rolling in the aisles!
  24. Well I did and that is where I got the differing speed numbers from. You would expect the geriatric 747 to be slower though wouldn't you?
  25. What, the A380 has a better reliability record, no crashes. You don't talk approximately when comparing speeds...the A380 is stated at 0.89 mach.
