Whats the lowest fare you've ever paid to Los ?
jacko replied to Chivas's topic in Airline Discussion
Well have to be a lot of Gin and Tonics to be worth it, but what the hell.Did you book this directly with their website or through an agent? I am getting about that for Biz Class with some carriers, and it would be well short for my favourite Singapore! -
Search function........

That is okay, I live in Banglamung and am quite happy with being 'close' to Pattaya but not in it. Transport required, truck or car for shopping, and a little bike to get about here and there. Not sure about 'investing in condos'... well not Pattaya ones anyhow. I feel it is a risky market and the cash could get safer returns another place.

Yes, but where. I already read the ladie's house bit. Pattaya, Bangkok, Nakhon Nowhere?Sounds like the lady won't be a financial burden which improves things.

Three trips under your belt and worried about coffee.... I thought you Australian guys liked beer. We got Bon Cafe and Starbucks and a few others, but too many guys here have the shakes already!

Thanks for futher details, interesting and I think you will be OK.As you say, with a deteriorating medical condition, the sooner the better. I manage without seeing my bank and CC statements just fine, all on the internet. Glad to hear of a solid relationship, sorry to pry but it seemed you were going in hard and fast there! The 90k is enough away from the bright lights, but with the frequent flights, a woman to support and the high expenses you are likely to see the first year it may be close. Obviously with money, more is better. Some months I easily survive on 90k, but when car insurance, medical and a few other bills come in together I easily pass that. Where do you plan to live?

'Firies pension'.... ?? You mean from being a fireman?90,000 baht alone isn't enough, I hope you have other sources, also is it index linked or something to account for inflation etc? I have my mail sent to a place in the UK, but nothing is urgent. You could have it DHL/FedExed every month or so. But if you go home every 3 months maybe not required, lots of flight costs there! I think 47 is a touch young but why not? How solid is the relationship with the TG, jumping straight into living together in her place makes the hair on my neck bristle.

Mahan Air from BHX to BKK £330 (including tax)
jacko replied to jogsuk's topic in Airline Discussion
Much as I prefer Biz Class and dislike paying much for it I will wait for some feedback.I am not exactly expecting fine wines and a little glass of Drambui after a pork cutlet dinner from them. I also am concerned how British passengers will be treated in Tehran, we are not exactly flavour of the month over there, being kidnapped for 444 days would certainly make it a long trip. Gay passengers may want to leave the tight T-Shirts and pink trousers in the suitcase too! -

I thought these guys got banned. -
Quite an eccentric routine, but planning is necessary. When the £ plummeted I had to change my plans too, I brought forward the date I estimated my death...... Like your style....

I wish....... That might not make a tourist, but it makes a happy Expat.Really ....120,000 baht/month. Quite a lot....

Well they have these extension things for the big ones, but I am thinking this guy wouldn't be able to strap himself in safely. He is a hazzard to his fellow passengers, if an incident occured you wouldn't be able to get round him, over him or past him to an emergency exit. I also doubt he would fit through the over-wing ones.!

The list before you come here is one thing.Make sure you have sufficient money/income and assets behind you, don't presume any income in LOS, presume outgoings only. See if you can get medical cover at home that will cover you in LOS, whilst medical insurance here is available, lack of it could be the ruin of you. Consider retaining an Oz 'address' and credit cards/ bank accounts, this can be useful. If life in LOS does not work out, what have you got to return to..(as an Ozzy, at least you have a good country, give us UK guys some sympathy on that one.....) Do you have relatives back in Oz? Make considerations for visits home, social or emergency. Don't bring all your money to LOS, nor invest all of it here. More important might be what you do when in LOS in the first year or two... plenty of 'don't dos' for that list!

Why 'hope for the best'? I have done this a few times and I was soon in a taxi, the driver seemed happy to get a long fare. Sure it was 1500, but the vehicle seemed better than the taxis that drop you off (not airport taxi-meters), and the process was straight forward.

Well I accrued a lot of miles with BA travelling on business, so when I retired I decided to burn them off (hate BA), flew 2 round trips business and 1 First. No miles with them left and the problem is I hate economy now!
-
Just invest time on the internet, for me, that is hardly an effort as I just work in another tab.I still think over a month but not over 5 months ahead averages out. Another good opportunity is soon after some big problem at the airline or airport. I got BA bargains after the Heathrow dispute, and Finnair just had some problems and I bet they have trimmed prices. Airlines that are 'struggling' offer bargains, but they might go out of business before the return flight....... I am on the mailing lists for quite a few carriers who send promotional fares out, Bangkok seems to be on there less often, or the fare is more than on the headline. Keeping with the same airline works better for the USA guys as their programs are better, I always look for price, with the caveat of reasonable connection time and no mickey mouse carriers. Mid November 2009 has gone already! If you want in that Biz Class cabin your approach has to change, either pay for it or stick with one carrier. I don't fly long-haul frequently enough these days to make that beneficial.

That might be good for the warm fuzzy feeling, but I would prefer one form of protection that I have confidence in, you have 2 which you do not! How many condoms do you use and what brand(s)?

I was surprised too, £1100 sounded good for Christmas travel. Lastminute.com came up with Air France at £805 from Manchester. From LHR Transaero (who?...Russia) for £711, Air China for £842

I have had positive results from Forex. But like brain surgery, it isn't something I would do on myself.

Or just go downstairs and get on the bus. (Actually it's a moving walkway so downstairs isn't correct) I was offered a 1000 baht taxi before I got to the bus guys. They spoke some English and I had to wait about 10 minutes.

Treasure Island too eh.... swine!
-
I have always booked between 5 and 2 months ahead, I believe that to be a good window. I also fly Manchester but am limited by my refusal to use LHR. Don't exclude Emirates because of the Dubai financial situation, if anything it might bring flights down, and outside of Christmas, and their next big holiday (Ramadan is a long time off) are not much impacted by our holidays. Avoid end-of-term, start of term if you can. Try Qatar's site, they offer some good prices directly. For cheap, Chiina Airlines via Amsterdam, Gazelle travel.

Animal farm isn't PC I guess, another reason not to go with Kindle/ Amazon, too much censorship about! Coincidentally Sony sent me a marketing email including this today. If it can be rotated, to give a landscaped reading area that would be preferable for me. The text looks a little small, can that be zoomed in-on?

Thanks, I took a look, looks like one of those personal organisers that didn't catch on years ago. Amazed I cannot transfer some of the books I downloaded to the gadget and have to get them from Amazon, like Apple software eh? At $259 it is far overpriced too. As to books on the laptop, well yes easy to obtain, but not practical. Perhaps one of the newer netbooks would work, but the thing I have won't pass to the bedside table single handed, and I would worry about it sliding to the floor when I turned. Whether I can download a book in under 60 seconds wireless or not, seems superfluous, when I was thinking of loading it like an Ipod or music to my cell phone.

Got any pictures of these things. I have had a couple of books on my computer for years, but reading from a computer just isn't comfy. Are these things the equivalent to a paperback you can read while propped up on pillows in bed?
