I just flew with China Airlines in Biz class, booked it through Gazelle travel. Manchester on KLM to Amsterdam..... It was a good flight, punctual and very nice Thai stewardesses. Sadly a couple of very drunk English yobs in front of me were making the girl's life hell. They weren't enhancing the flying experience for the other passengers around them either.

Yes, they have one at the Oz Embassy once a year, whether they need it or not.

I once deposited a UK cheque into my Bangkok Bank branch account. It took about 3 weeks to clear via the London branch and the costs were the same as an international 'telex' transfer. (In fact that appeared to be what the London branch did!) I concluded it wasn't a good way to transfer my money to Thailand. I have a relative deposit sterling cheques into my UK account and get at the money by international transfer or ATM card.

Bite the bullet frosty and go to one of the visa run outifts... (Sportsman Soi 13... and Wetherspoons, soi Buakhao.....not sure whether Wetherspoons is still the HQ). They organise a run to Malaysia which is advertised on Sophon. Come back with a new tourist visa. I came to Thailand many years back with a triple entry tourist visa from the UK, got 8 months out of that.

I like this option, and a delux trip at about 2400 baht is not bad compared to the 1900 baht for just 7 days extension. just remember to take proof of your trip out of Thailand with you.

I think a dining experience is improved by first getting away from traffic. I would rather spend more and go across WS and dine 'over the sea'. Some people like to dine down Soi 15, with the passing motorcycles, mongers and general bedlam. Most of these places cannot go beyond barbecuing seafood and something quick cooked in a wok.

The ones on the Walking St have got it together, and are great for the tourist. But for those that live here they are overpriced. Look around and see how many Thais are eating there. For a change, go right to the far end of Jomtiem beach, where the estuary is. There are 2 good ones there. Try Pattaya Nua,between the 3rd Rd and Tesco Lotus, called 'Jay Jook'..or something like that. On the corner where the large parking area is for the 'Traditional Massage place. The latter does not have the near the sea ambiance, but any monkey can barbecue prawns.... and I don't like tricks like the 10 baht cold towel!

Thanks a lot guys, I am quite amazed some of you get into that mess that is between Phratamnac and Walking St. (My driver mate can't park for shit so it needs to be easy). I have also been 'trapped' by food stalls too, of course they have a right to set up where they like as they are a business . Murder to get out.... We like to come in and out on Pattaya Klang. Best so far seems like The Avenue.

Well I might add I don't mind paying too... I am doing to the attendants now. Anybody know what time the car park at 'The Avenue' closes? Joe....a bit confused, there are not many sois off Walking Street, and even fewer you can take a car down...Walking Street itself is closed to traffic then. Time is at a premium, and cruising at walking pace to find a place is not really an option. One can hardly walk down those streets. Would infront of the Bali Hai pier be okay at night?

Parking for a night out. It's never easy to park in Pattaya, and when I go for a night out we always ponder where to park. Used to be able to find a spot at the bottom of Pattaya Nua, but not always, and it is such a haul to get to and from Walking Street. Many use the Wat, opposite the school on Pattaya Tai, just before Second rd, great location but a pain to drive to.... and sometimes you lose bits off the car! More recently I have used the Ruen Thai restaurant car park, opposite The Marriot on second rd. Another great location for ease of Walking St..... and no need to suffer the baht busses. But they seem to know we are not using the restaurant now, and the squeeze is on for more cash for the attendants. Where do you put the car when you go a carousing? What tricks are required to be allowed to stay for over 4 hours from 8pm?

KLM fly from Amsterdam to both Bangkok and Manila, so an open jaw with them would suit.The KLM website doesn't apear to support this so you would need to use a travel agent or contact them.

Yes the above caused me to do a manual update on Spybot and AVG-Free. I don't think there is an option to block ads on IE7... let me know if I am wrong or there is a free add-in. I know Firefox can accept one.

LOL.... yes, previously there were too many distractions en-route to make it al the way down the street. I bet the deck chair renters at that junction are doing a roaring trade......soon there will be a herd of FL gals congregating there like the Nana carpark at 2am. I can see all these guys emerging out of soi 6 onto the beach road, looking bewildered, lost, confused, frustrated. And they won't have had their pockets picked by the katoeys so flush with cash!
