Plenty of Snapper to go round these days.... http://www.pattayamail.com/current/news.shtml#hd13 Where are these when I go out fishing? -

Aw man! Don't bring this back to the top! -
ALAN LADs 50th birthday 12th oct (open at 7PM)
jacko replied to alan lad's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Not many free drink offers in town these days.... And when they come around they are announced only hours beforehand.. I bet there are a few cheap charlies at home looking hard for flight! Great offer from a guy who does it better. -
Truly... I can never get out of the Bangkok Pattaya for less than 2000 baht. Infuriating to be paying for excessive amounts of medication that are 1/3 the price at the corner pharmacy! Well done DrMick... a healthier lifestyle reaping benefits. One of those battery blood pressure monitors might be handy in case you ever feel you need to check again.

I think my neighbour's wife works there. She also cooks at his restaurant by the lake on Soi Siam CC. A restaurant charging 120baht for a beer is excessive, and enough to keep me out. I frequent a place where I get a large Heinekin for that. Trouble is most people look at the food prices in a restaurant and order the beer without. They might benefit by offering reduced drink prices to those ordering food. I have a friend who also suffers from Russian tourists who ask for free hot water in his hotel restuarant, to go with the pot noodle and bottle of beer they bought at the 7-11.

So there shouldn't be any foreign restaurants anyplace? Bradford probably does a good curry. And as to the available food in Nebraska, I hope it isn't limited to burgers and KFC. Oops, a burger is German.

Sounds like you have a rather indulged/ fortunate daughter there..... Take the £160 and have a good night out ..... I get the impression that the once 'super' Eva are a little less anxious to please these days... You might have done better if you daughter could have come up with a better reason... illness or a bereavement.

Wow, expect a herd of computer nerds, complete with pocket protectors and thumb drives on cords around their necks! Certainly a great video and a credit to advertising..... This board is getting like the Pattaya news Channels...

Anyone know how to fix forun glitches?

Search just worked fine for me... -
Yes.... Or she can go in there alone for a smoke.... Or a customer can go in there alone for a smoke..... What really happens in there I am unsure of, as I don't smoke and don't go in there.... but I am sure people smoke......

Well thanks for pointing that out to me... I don't use the search function before I post. It is exactly the same incident. Thanks for confirming it as I requested. To save me time, perhaps you could also point out the other incidents for the 'than usual' comparison. (This is depressing, I must have read that previous post and have no recollection of it......I'll be forgetting how to abbreviate 'you are' next) -
Joe, I think that is the best post of yours that I have ever read. Absolutely clear. To the point. Persuasive and accurate. No dizzy after effect...

I received a message and some pics relating to an incident from last November... of an Airbus 340-600 that the ADAT (Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies) test crew managed to crash into a blast barrier during pre-delivery tests. The pics most certainly showed a messed up Airbus in Ethiad livery..... The message claimed a news blackout to protect Arab sensibilities...... If this is accurate, I hope none of these guys get to pilot flights! Anyone else heard rumours? Confirmation or dismiss as bunkum?

Sometimes my phone selected Edge, sometimes GPRS... all transparent to me and depended on location. I can only say that I seemed to get the slowest speed where I lived, East of Sukhumvit, Pattaya. Likely due to the number of people logging on. Seemed much better in other locales, Korat, Chiangmai, Nan... where it was available that is. My ADSL isn't great and 3 times the price! Can't take it with me too!
-
Not sure what you mean by 'private clinics'.... The system is based around small clinics run by doctors (hopefully), government hospitals, and what I would term 'private' hospitals.... private only to those who have the money /insurance required.

Perhaps the condo offers a sea view? You would have to see the properties yourself. You say 'in the same area' but location is a primary factor on price. The house is a town house, which are always cheaper. One is perhaps aimed at the expat market, the other at the occasional tourist. There is a wide variation on prices within Pattaya. Can't say too much as those involved in the property market will be on my case!

I see you keep stating GPRS... but my mobile was using EDGE. Does your mobile support EDGE? Certainly EDGE was available where I live. My mobile displays the network type. But I like your approach, find an alternative rather than beat the problem to death.

I expect they will do good business commuting the LHR staff between home and work.

Have to agree to disagree there W, when I see 'LD 95 baht' on the posted pricelist, and agree to buy, and she returns with an umbrella in a fruit cocktail, and drops a bill for 180 baht into my cup, I feel aggrieved. There are no 'cents' in Thailand, there are 'satang', but you wil not see them used on a bar bill. Perhaps your upbringing did not teach you respect for money, lucky you. Also, if we must talk 'cents', American I guess, the difference is normally about 150+ of them, neither 10, nor 20, nor a quarter.

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, AT A PRICE
jacko replied to Gabor's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Pattaya One news showed them being rounded up last night, along with the Thai pimp being arrested. The report claimed them to be from Uzbekistan, sure were an unattractive gaggle. Keep them doggies movin' Rawhide! -
I used to use my mobile on 1-2-Call (Edge) months ago... it just kept getting slower and slower.I think it was you Bob that once recommended the 1-2-Call package at the Expats Club. I found that I could rarely access my email (UK hosted), outside an early AM or mid afternoon window. It is possible it has deteriorated further since I had ADSL piped in, and the connection to the USA is slow. Find a pal nearby and see if he will let you connect to his ADSL network to see how that works.

It should not be a problem for you. Whilst ashtrays are scarce, ask and you will be supplied with a receptacle. I can only think of one or two places where you may be asked to go upstairs, or use a special room.

They have a section at the back now where, behind closed doors, smokers go for a quick one. It seems to be popular and for once smokers seem to be adhering to the restriction. So for me it is a place to get a cold beer, at a reasonable price, and a break from the smoke. Sadly a subsequent visit there seemed to be a dearth of ladies. But I soon had a giggling lovely sat on my lap .....You buy LD in this place and they love you....

Sky high, I reserve for Angelwitch, Top Girls and all of Bangkok. This was 120 baht for a bottle I think. A draught drinker most certainly sees a wide variation on prices. I might be in there tonight.
