  1. Sorry don't use BHX but can simply say you should like the Emirates A380 service... I love them BUT, have always flown Biz Class.
  2. Today's rates at TT, soi Buakhao.
  3. Well that is interesting. Kinda nice to know he is still pedaling around brightening up a few people's day. All except the cabbies I expect.
  4. But why was there a plummet straight after.... just sensitivity in the market?
  5. I just checked Transferwise and they are, right now, 37,56 nett of charges to transfer from a UK bank account. It appears when parliament are not in session things are better, get rid of 620 more Boris! I noticed yesterday at 8am UK time it spiked up then took a good dive, but recovered. I expect it will be calmer now until October 14th when the circus is back in town.
  6. I would like to refer to it as it was called, Club World, and I flew to quite a few places with them back in late 80s and 90s. Sometimes trying to catch some sleep in the quiet room in the old T4 lounge, en-route from the Middle East to the USA or South America. I used to get quite excited for the return trip, a UK paper, some Stilton and port and to hear those lovely English and Scottish accents again. And when I quit, due to an attachment to keeping my head on my neck, I tapped into an abundance of Air Miles and flew BA First to Bangkok, a delight. (Although leaving a little late as BA 009 was apt to be.) So, for old times sake, last year, when all airlines were charging the earth during the peak season, I got a cheaper BA Biz Class via Expedia.... not a Club I wish to be a member of any more. Rattling old aircraft, service far inferior to what the Middle East Carriers offer, awful seats, noisy cabin. Delays for the shuttle services, and to be honest, border collies could have done a better job of controlling boarding! An insult.
  7. Aren't there a lot of cheaper pilots to be had around at the moment, didn't Ryan air shed a few. Disappointing show, but their quality of service and reliability were shot already. I 'gave them a go' last year for my UK trip and that about did it for me.
  8. Today's rates.....
  9. What? I thought he meant New South Wales.

    New Car

Renault and Ford have joined forces to create the perfect small car for women. Mixing the Renault 'Clio' and the Ford 'Taurus' they have designed the 'Clitaurus'. It comes in pink, and the average male car thief won't be able to find it - let alone turn it on - even if someone tells him where it is and how to do it. Rumour has it though, it can be a real bitch to start in the morning! Some have reported that on cold winter mornings, when you really need it, you can't get it to turn over. New models are initially fun to own, but very costly to maintain, and horribly expensive to get rid of. Used models may initially appear to have kerb appeal and a low price, but eventually have an increased appetite for fuel, and the kerb weight typically increases with age. Manufacturers are baffled as to how the size of the boot increases, but say that the paint may just make it LOOK bigger. This model is not expected to reach collector status. Most owners find it is best to lease one, and replace when it becomes troublesome.

  13. I just recall that the cost of flights was the main barrier back then, although that is well before even my time. I am betting they are the same in £Sterling terms that they were back in the 80s. I always recalled a BA Club World to Bangkok came in at about £3500 back then, probably still more than it is now. People were only just becoming accepting of short hops to Spain on charter flights and suffering surcharges when they got to the airport. Everyone seems to be able to afford an economy long haul every now and again these days. I was changing my Sterling at a worse rate than it is even today during my first few trips, but still recall feeling everything seemed so cheap in Thailand. So what has changed, exchange rate back where it was and a pound substantially deflated in purchasing power, and yet I see things as expensive now. Could it be a lady drink in a beer bar at 150 baht when she used to get a 50 baht beer or Spy from me? Could it be plates of mainly fried rice for over 100 that used to be 30 baht? Some GGB owner wanting 1200 baht for a LT Barfine when it was 500. Having to even think about where I go and what I buy. A non BF boozy night around the GGBs costing 6000-8000 baht when a couple used to cover it. I still think my £ should be 50 baht considering what I get for that nowadays.
  14. Let us not do politics here. But you are getting ahead of yourself.
  15. No problem with optimism.... but 'The Deal' has been rejected and the EU unwilling to renegotiate, so another option is only to extend or repeat the referendum. I will avoid the news until tomorrow.
  16. It was worth more with you sitting in it!
  17. You suggest all the other member states except the UK have a veto?
  18. Quote: Thai public hospitals can now legally charge foreign nationals higher rates for services under new regulations published Friday. More than dual-pricing, the new regs set four tiers of rates that can be charged based on a patient’s visa status. Treatment costs are set at four levels: Thai nationals, foreigners from neighboring countries and working foreigners on non-immigrant visas. The fourth group consists of tourists and retirees. While foreigners from other ASEAN nations appear to pay the same rates as Thai patients, they increase significantly for the third group – which includes most expats – while retirees and tourists really get the shaft. For example, a simple antibody screening costs Thais and ASEAN residents THB130. Most expats will pay THB190 while retirees and tourists pay double – THB260. Want an HIV test? The THB160 charged to Thais and ASEAN nationals goes up to THB240 for working expats and THB320 for retirees/tourists. Thailand’s medical tourism brought in an estimated THB18.4 billion baht ($US600 million) in 2018, but most seek treatment at private hospitals. On the higher end, a spinal MRI that costs Thais and their neighbors THB18,700 jumps up to THB23,375 for working expats and THB28,050 for retirees/tourists. The new rates come into effect Sept. 29. The new rules essentially make it legal for public hospitals to charge more of foreign nationals, something that has been a source of complaints over the years when it happened illicitly. Late last year, media reports said the health department and Hua Hin Hospital would refund over THB20,000 (US$650) to a Dutch man following years of complaints he’d been made to pay hundreds of baht in extra charges every time he traveled from Prachuab Khiri Khan for cancer treatments. It was unclear whether Erwin Buse ever received the compensation. More anti-Western sentiment? Higher Insurance Premiums? Source.
  19. He may just ignore the law. Another discussion is to ask for an extension, but the mainly Brexit British component in Strasbourg could veto that! Meanwhile, Sterling plummets.
  20. Well it certainly went down yesterday. British politics eh..... what a shower of useless twits.
  21. A Touch of Class.
  22. Well usually a crappy seat with no leg space pushed forward, and often a place for the driver to chuck some stuff and, as said, a place for luggage. They are expecting 3 lots of luggage. YOU did not specify a car, but did you tell them 3 people? Did they know it was a short trip? I suppose the SUV could have been all that was available too. If you want a car, specify that. Just a miscommunication.... Is this her website.
