  1. She was likely thinking of cashing it in next week!
  2. It is where the Expats Club meets on Fridays. Yes the pool area has had some work, a few slides and showers to make it appeal to children, and is quite decent, although it has been hemmed in by condo buildings around. There is a coffee shop type of place and meals served around the pool. Not been in a room for a while but remember they used to be small dog friendly, although I think that was reserved for particular floors. My problem with the place is they now get many Indian customers. Sometimes a coach load arrives in the morning and it seems they have breakfast included and will pack the coffee shop.
  3. Grumpy Old Men
  4. Is the issue mostly price as I find flights of 15.0 -> 17.0 hours quite easily, and mostly landing early morning in Manchester. (That is the topic)? I find the European carriers, like BA and KLM now schedule with late Manchester arrivals, which doesn't suit me at all.
  5. Yes. and free visas for Chinese and Indian..... they are the preferred market.
  6. Stock markets dive after German results announced. Everyone blamed Brexit for the UK economy contracting but it is happening to Germany too. No deal seems the only solution! I have posted rates in GGB Reviews.
  7. The flight Helsinki to Bangkok with Finn Air is okay BUT the flight from Manchester to/from Helsinki is on some budget carrier and for me was bad. My friend flew Oman and spoke highly of it. Personally I am an Emirates fan though. Avoid BA!
  8. You do right to be wary. Quite a few Thais renting cars only have regular insurance, and in the event of an accident I would be worried whether it would apply. I too suggest you talk to Pool Hustler.
  9. Interesting. That makes me wonder wrt the health of Emirates. All that investment on capacity and numbers dropping.
  10. But you all should get out of the vehicle which is a bit of a drag. Particularly if it is hot and you are still in your travel togs. I still use Mr Toom... it is his son now as the old boy died. That is pickup and return to Pattaya, the other way I drive myself and the Mrs brings the truck back. Need to do my share destroying the environment!
  11. My favourite is 'it will bounce back". It is a long time coming or a bit of a dead cat bounce. Sitting waiting for it to 'bounce back' has likely cost me plenty and I am running on fumes now. And more in line with the topic, can I support myself at the current baht/ £ rate. The current UK State pension is 6000 baht/week. That is not going to pay for a night out! Bye bye Brit tourists.
  12. Just up the road from me. I was behind Teelack in the queue so decided not to bother.
  13. I jumped in here to post this awful Sterling News, you lot are ahead of me, Sub 37, fuck me, what a state. I will have to go to the UK for a cheap shag!
  14. And here we are.....
  15. Massage, don't forget the early afternoon massage.
  16. Yes I must admit I was looking to see the rates improve for the foreigners, not much evidence of that. I will try and get a pic from TT today.
  17. It is a lot to put up with and easier for the fit and young.
  18. Today... I know, it says Thursday again.......
  19. You will get sub 37 baht/£ if you change money at the bank this morning. https://www.scb.co.th/en/personal-banking/foreign-exchange-rates.html
  20. I recall back in June, 2016, several days before the UK's EU referendum, I was in the UK, so my mind wasn't focused on sending money to Thailand. It should have been. The rate then was around 51 baht/£. I simply cannot insert enough banghead emojis into this post to justify how I feel!
  21. It is a holiday weekend here, maybe that is affecting their updating. King's birthday Sunday, bank holiday in lieu Monday.
  22. I flew with them early in the year to Bali, I thought non-stop would be good after having some horrible transfers at KL with Malaysian. Couldn't afford their Biz Class, or rather far from worth it at about 45000 baht. Economy not that cheap, remember thinking Malaysian Biz about the same. What I hadn't realized is Thai must be marketing a lot in India, and transit fares via Bangkok especially. My flight packed, nowhere to sit at boarding gate except on somebody's feet who seem to think they have a right to occupy 4 seats. Lot of couples, few too many kids, reasonable flight but too packed. Queuing for check-in and boarding at Bali on return a bit slow and chaotic. Thai have always lost money, they give seats away to their cronies. But I think the Thai 'face' will keep them going.
  23. You see, I never know where I am. Sense of direction goes to pot. I always thought the fountain was at one particular end and that had moved .
