  1. No good news here!
  2. Agree with tallguy,. I was in town for the fireworks and traffic was stationary on North Rd and 2nd Rd. M/C taxis could squeeze you through if need be. My past experience was to plan around it, walk a good bit or park yourself hitched up to a beer,
  3. I think women's soccer is more popular in the USA than in Europe after winning it! When a goal scorer starts ripping their shirt off it may get better spectator numbers.
  4. And the right to privacy? A picture of you asleep, drooling and clicking your false teeth goes viral before you land in London!
  5. And those incessant beeps and bongs and favourite tunes.
  6. That's true, many an expensive Audi around!
  7. I don't believe so, I was always under the impression it was a cash only sort of place. Debit cards of course OK at banks.
  8. I was a regular Emirates traveler and they brought in Wi-Fi. Initially it was pay for, cheap for a block of data. Then they made it free in Biz Class. Wasn't much good, okay for Messaging Apps but not much more. Also a lot of dead expanses as we flew over the wilderness of Asia. Not worth the effort or frustration. Put the damned phone away and watch a film or get some sleep. Some MP4 files on the lappy works good.
  9. Do you come across many that have their own cars? I have met a few but not many. They might actually own one, but it is in the village being used by a brother or father.
  10. Interesting, so a few times each year a large lid will be taken off and the convicts sent in there? Great news for the people having businesses on that corner. Any strainers in there would be clogged up after a single rain shower.
  11. No. Rainy season starts from end of May through to the end of October. Prior to that is the hot season. Don't get me wrong, rainy doesn't mean cool, simply cooler. Plenty of heat between the showers, Heaviest rains come late in the season.
  12. Well I am sure it is useful for those people back 'home' if only to stop them buying their baht there at awful rates. I know when I am flying out of the UK, I often look at the rates being offered by the exchange shops in the airport, and will pull my phone out and see what Bangkok Bank would give me. Difference is criminal, and of course TT Exchange will be better!
  13. Usually I get the rate on Friday so it will reflect the weeks changes and set the tone for the weekend. Yes, there is a lot of inflow of money into Thailand and the projects on the Eastern seaboard , so the currency can be expected to strengthen, especially against the massive debts the Western ones carry. I can only hope it will bring up the value of my land and house along with demand and I can sell up in a few years and look to rent for a spell. All this seems to contradict a Pattaya that frankly is a dump in a lot of areas, and is frequently under water.
  14. Didn't stop by yesterday to get the usual picture. Was on the bike and rain was making life difficult.
  15. Having your own vehicle makes traveling around much easier so I would say yes. Pool Hustler advertises on here and he rents out vehicles, both pickup truck and car. Usually about Weekly 6,000 baht, 1 Month 16,000 baht. There are always renters around the old Xcite disco area but these are ones with regular insurance and not renters cover. If you can stomach being a passenger with the imaginary pedals let her drive, but most of them are pretty bad! Bad for your nerves and I would say do it yourself. International driving licence required to keep the police happy.
  16. Yes, after St Paddy got rid of all the snakes in Ireland, he came and eliminated rabies from the UK.
  17. I doubt the average Thai soi dog or cat has ever been near a vet. The toy dogs Thai women love, yes likely, my cat, assuredly, most dogs with very little fur sat scratching, certainly not.
  18. Strictly speaking condos should not be rented out for less than 1 month. In Bangkok such places are being raided and all residents checked for address reporting. In the past I used to bridge the cramped hotel room to a spacious condo where I can make a bit of brekkie and keep my favourite beer brand at hand using the Residence Hotel and Nova park. Always liked having a separate bedroom.
  19. I would expect a photographer to have a little more experience with such questions.
  20. In my experience they don't make the best neighbours. I would go as far as to say I would deliberately avoid them.
  21. Yeah a friend confirmed he was done on arrival 10 or so days ago. They obviously got them working. It will not be so easy to dodge behind dual nationality and by getting a new passport in the future,, and living in Thailand on Visa waivers or tourist visas is getting harder.
  22. Very popular with the Chinese coach tours and a cause of accidents on Sukhumvit. I frequently passed when the tunnel construction forced me up there. I doubt much to be seen, although don't forget King Power Duty free!
