Pictures from around Pattaya

I noticed that half of Klang was blocked off yesterday from 2nd to Beach Road. At first I thought it was to do with cable burial but it looks more like water pumps, there was absolutely no work going on, simply the road closed off and equipment left there. Also some delay on 2nd Rd just ahead of Central Festival (BR) Mall. At first I thought it was the usual mess from the car-parking there but it was work on the Beach Side, closing off part of the road. Traffic heavy in town, and a little impatient, those on motorcycles getting crazy due to having their brains boiled in their helmets. -

There have been a lot of rumours and false information bandied about. I read one report saying it was impossible to fly an aircraft into the side of the building due to woods, despite the fact that the Pentagon is surrounded by an ruddy great open car park. The conspiracy and cover up I see is that these buildings were built using a method that failed to 'hold up' to the aircraft strikes when I believe they should have. One tower that fell without being hit is also suspicious.
-
I suspect so as it was not a Jumbo jet but a 757. There was a ruddy great turbine engine sitting there on pics I saw.

Haha yes, I am losing track!

Usually quite civilized, but you do get access to a lot of free booze. I think he was in First but Vinnie Jones made a lot of problems up front once, and I had a couple of drunked up Brits creating problems in Biz on Air China once, but they got on the plane like that. In Economy you have to start sobering up, but there is a culture of hitting the bar in the airport pre-flight in Britain, whatever the time of day.

Apart from a ruddy great jet engine sitting there smoldering!

Well City only managed a single goal to retake the lead, I haven't seen the game but looks like an early goal and then resting the attack. Big games for them both on Tuesday.

There was a similar amount of wreckage but more widespread, which might depend on the angles they hit the Earth.

Might be simpler to have a system that works rather than needs to be disabled. Having an aircraft full of screaming passengers likely distracted them.

Well a friend was there recently and it took him a long time but he got the extension. He had to show the money coming in and where it was coming from. They didn't want to apply any leniency though for the new rule and wanted to see a full year of transfers. (Although I have heard of some renewals with less) He also failed in that some transfers exceeded 65,000 and some were less, as he had transferred 'what he needed' and some months are obviously more expensive than others. I get the impression reading Thai Visa that Jomtiem is still quite amenable wrt Retirement extensions excepting combination. I will be leaving 800k sitting pretty for 12 months and have started more regular updates of pass-book.

Sadly, another of those sites wanting to add cookies and know about me. Maybe I am paranoid but I always feel inclined to say no.

It seems ironic that a system designed to prevent a stall, (and the aircraft falling out of the sky) , falsely made that determination and caused it to dive to the ground under power. Such are the realms of design. This, following on the 787 issues with batteries that caused fires surely is a cause for worry. I would really like to know is there is some change that caused critical failings in their QC processes.
-
Sounds straightforward and without any problems. Good feedback. I am reading elsewhere that 'combination method' is a problem at Jomtiem. I bet you were glad you got the affidavit late last year to save you any complications. Also pleasing to read that the affidavit was sufficient alone and did not require any further proofs. Obviously yours was near 5 months old. There won't be many more. Thanks.

Well some of the potholes are back, particularly in front of the Nightwish bars on Soi pothole. One has to look on the bright side though, I got to use the upstairs VIP room at a particular establishment there, as the ground floor was mucky after being flooded on Tuesday. But business goes on. Nervous riding home under black and rumbling skies yesterday, but it never amounted to anything. -
Plus your duty free and any other shopping at the airport, that could catch you out at the gate. (That said no gate checks in Bangkok)

No biggie mate. Sometimes I have to park in LK Metro as parking near TT might get me in a fight with the WINs! It's the only exercise I get!
-
That's an awful lot to be allowing into a cramped 777-200ER, Boarding alone would be hindered.

Sad indeed, my very thoughts. So much time and effort and money. Also what was superficially a good result, but the usual underlying poor design and quality fails. We are having some early rains this year and heavy at that, it does not bode well for Pattaya Beach.

Great pics FBWU, and thanks for posting! I saw some pics of Sukhumvit under water too and wonder if the tunnel was effected or simply the cause! I know someone who went into town early and got caught up in it. Apparently the police were for once out turning people back from deep areas which is good to hear. Boy did I dodge the bullet when I saw the clouds building at home and deciding not to go into town for a naughty! If you have time and the inclination how about going to see and evidence how the Beach reclamation did after this. (Whoops, I see you did already, good one!) -

Coincidentally I have a Swedish guy staying at my place. He uses a big bike in Sweden and rented a PCX here, doing fine (other than getting lost and riding both through the tunnel and on the motorway). He seems to think the main issue is the stupidity of the other drivers around him, including the Westerners, and that isn't taught. There was a similar question a while back here and no real answer other than getting a TG with a bike and practicing where you can, some of the Jomtiem roads was suggested. Here is a link to a similar past thread. Most people think you have to be nuts to get on a motorbike here but I have ridden for many years. -
I wish they had, never remember their names, beer and my memory don't associate.

Is it not the falang lady helping Phil and doing the cooking? Usually spelled 'Eileen'..

I flew them last year from Bangkok to Manchester and back, I got a ticket via Expedia in Club world. My complaint was the domestic connections between LHR and Manchester which were all late and boarding was only missing the border collies. Service on board for Club World was poor, so god knows what Economy will be like, deaf and dumb stewardesses desperately ignoring you I expect. They aren't far removed from a budget carrier. Positives, non-stop between Bangkok and LHR gets it over with. £400 is super cheap and worth enduring it for.
