  4. The way the negotiations are going, and what I perceive to be very negative treatment of the UK by the EU (some will say they brought it on themselves, but I say the EU brought it about due to intransigence), I just want to get out of their domineering clutches whatever comes! The UK will be offering free trade agreements to anyone else who wants to come too. And if they land on your shores, they are yours!
  5. They didn't seem to reduce prices ex-Bangkok for late August.

  7. Although to put that into perspective... population may not be everything else India would be more important. In 2017, the share of the European Union in the global gross domestic product based on purchasing-power-parity amounted to an estimated 16.52 percent. The EU GDP amounted to 13.92 trillion euros in 2014
  8. Interesting, although it is not entirely unexpected for me.
  9. The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean. (I always remember the lines, 'How'd ya like your horse?'...'Blue')
  10. And similarly I expect the rights of EU carriers to overfly UK airspace and use UK airports and fly into the UK will need to be renegotiated? This was a one way street all along where the UK became a bit player.
  11. And it was my own past response... my memory failed me...... Burt Lancaster

  13. There has been a lot of scare mongering lately, the leader of the IMF, Lagarde, recently spoke and I expected her comments to drive Sterling down more. I picked up a free copy of the UK Newspaper, The I, I was very surprised by the anti-Brexit rhetoric, and quite blatant fear mongering, mind you, I had been buying The Mail previously so quite a contrast. I am sitting on the wall again about sending funds to Thailand, rate is currently so low, but the future may hold some very big shocks to the UK economy, and Sterling... I failed previously to move money ahead of the Brexit vote and that cost me 15%! But of course, in the UK, they focus on the important stuff like making misogyny a hate crime!
  14. Today's rates....
  15. I have a 125 Yamaha, had it for about 11+ years now. A bicycle, no, afraid I am a bit too lazy for that. I think it is a bit dangerous for day to day getting about, and wouldn't carry enough shopping.
  16. Actually I believe you need a Non-Imm Visa to get a Thai driving licence. Many a person goes ass over tit first time on a motorbike.... it's a right of passage. You appear to know it all so I shan't waste my or your time further! Later Edit: A residence certificate from immigration is actually what is needed. A thread here details both to a degee but more focused on a 5 year renewal.
  17. Coincidentally wifey's nephew in hospital right now after a motorcycle accident this morning hurrying to school. Has a head injury... ....not wearing a helmet of course.
  18. Sometimes people are avoiding the cost of seeing a physician... and the subsequent tests. Particularly true for retirees in Pattaya.
  19. Good post and a problem that seems to be escalating. I recall attending the Fireworks competition a few months back, and walked along the beach from the Dusit to soi 6 area before sunset, it was truly disgustingly litter strewn. A stroll down 2nd Rd to Klang exhibited many piles of fly tipping. Later, sat on the Beach, even the locals were complaining how it looked, and this was before the event started. As I rode my bike through some casava fields yesterday, a snack bag flew out of a truck window to join many similar, and many much larger items by the roadside. This will keep tourists away.
  20. I think my tightest ever was with KLM in Schipol, made it and surprisingly so did the case. I always consider transfer times when booking, rejecting short ones as airlines struggle to get short shuttles off on time. Over 5 hours is rejected outright unless I know there is a good lounge I will be admitted to.
  21. Have you been to Thailand before? It is not place where they are well trained to ride bikes or even think much about it. Firstly you should have a motorcycle licence to even rent a bike, and an IDP. Also, again as stated, the most common bikes here are fully automatic, twist and go driven, so not much to be learned from them. The learning really starts out on the roads and is fear based. My best idea is to find a good LT beer bar girl who has a bike and practice in condo parking on hers, and progress to maybe riding up and down Jomtiem Beach Rd to build confidence.
  22. Is that a 747-400 Butch, doesn't look like it unless it is upper deck? There are 4 seats across middle row on many carriers using 747-400 regulars.
  23. Despite the fear of going off-topic, I do know Atlas is a bit of an expert on bored mothers!
  24. Most bikes here don't have a clutch, and are fully automatic. Do you have a motorcycle licence in our home country?
  25. Back in LOS and glad of it!
