  1. I did not know any of that. Thanks for educating me!
  2. I saw the whooping. I didn't hear the manager's excuse. I can understand the player's POV. They are middle of the table. They won't be in the top five. They won't be relegated. I posted my opinion of BLM in the politics section. They chose a great name but I suspect most don't know much about them apart from the great sounding name. As I said, I naive on much about the UK beyond general history. We are like that here. You all know far more about us and your continental neighbors than we do about you. I do now a bit about Germany because my mom was from there and I have many cousins
  3. With the plane/banner? Yes. The game was televised here. The aftermath, no. At the time the owner threatened to impose a lifetime ban on those responsible. I recall that players had been alerted to its likelihood in advance. That's all we got here.
  4. I am very naive about your football on a professional level. The sport itself is worldwide of course. I don't know the motivations of individual owners or who most of the owners are. From what you are saying, if I read it right, is that you have many owners who are more concerned about profit than in winning cups. I am not saying that to be disruptive in any way. That describes my country's entire professional sports industry, which I enjoy. My points earlier are that I enjoy the way your system works also. Nothing is perfect. I respect the loyalty to city and citizens to team
  5. jacko. A red is unnecessary for a moderator. I am not fighting with you but you seem to have continuing issues with me. My use of language was only to draw things out and not therefore meant purely pejorative. If I was not on topic, I apologize. I sincerely applaud the Premiership and how your leagues function. Go Reds!
  6. With all the money we have printed lately, I hope in a way others benefit. This thing about a nation's currency...even after 50 years of paying attention is difficult to grasp at times. I hope you and your countrymen do well and far into the future. Thanks for your perspective!
  7. It was related to the Premier league and a wonderment how you do things so I disagree. I take it you were the red.
  8. Was the beginning more working class England?
  9. Do you agree with that assessment? Short term? Long term? Just curious.
  10. I'm not sure why a red for simply explaining how I see your better system in Europe. I was not promoting ours over yours. I wish the coward would come forth and explain why the red. It was cowardly. I think your system is better. It is community based. Ours is profit based on the side of owners. I may be wrong but I would like to learn why I'm wrong in my comparison.
  11. Yes. In many ways all of our sports are equally popular in the USA. In your football, there is also relegation which we don't have. A club can be in the top league one year, back down the next and then back up again. Being in a lower league does bot mean you won't play a team(s) from an upper league for a cup. We have nothing like that. We have lower leagues but it is players that move up or down (or overseas) and not teams (owned by top clubs for player development). Even our pro "soccer" league has no relegation. Your football is far more about community than anything we have. My late b
  12. We love our sports and our teams but it isn't like what you all have. Maybe if we had just one sport...but you all have cups and the best of Europe have a championship and then leagie players are off to their national teams for World Cup play. There is no other love affair in sport like your form of football. In South America, wasn't it so raucous at one point they built moats in the stadiums? That was a story many decades old, if true. edit: I found this https://imgur.com/gallery/JBjNv
  13. Football is an integral part of life in many places, not so much in America. Maybe we have too many sports and too many teams. How many cities in the UK don't have a football team? You grow up with a team and stay loyal for life. I'm happy for the fans of Liverpool. 30 years is a long time between league titles. It's a shame that the city can't celebrate as shown above but that is the times. They have a great manager, great players and a promising future.
  14. She said "Đau quá!" - "It hurts too much." Full Metal Jacket
  15. A very underrated Pink Floyd song imho.
  16. VP, you come up with a lot of good ones!
  17. I recently had an endoscopy. Because of GERDS I have been taking Prevacid for decades. They found approximately 75 benign polyps in my stomach caused by the medication. Over the decades, my manhood has appeared to be decreasing in size. Your theory now makes things crystal clear. It likely explains my divorce as well.
  18. Perhaps my favorite Jethro Tull song. It starts off slow and mellow but builds and builds to the end. Crank it up!
  19. Tull Took a sad song of one sweet evening I smiled and quickly turned away. It's not easy singing sad songs But still the easiest way I have to say. So when you look into the sun And see the things we haven't done Oh was it better then to run Than to spend the summer crying. Now summer cannot come anyway. I had waited for time to change her. The only change that came was over me. She pretended not to want love I hope she was only fooling me. So when you look into the sun Look for the pleasures nearly won. Or was
  20. I was headed there for number 70 in November. I hope they find a vaccine or I will likely never get to go back.
  21. Not a bad time for salting a few extra pounds away. Wait a minute. You're from the UK. That can be taken two ways.
