  1. I have been having annoying discomfort in my left abdomen. I didn't think much about it. It bothers me only when sitting or bending, I see my doctor every three months and today was the day. I brought all of this to her attention. She has scheduled an ultrasound to rule out a hernia. The good news is upon palpitation, she could feel no protrusion of anything through the wall of the muscle. She also said it is right on the borderline of where one might consider it to almost certainly be a hernia. She had me do the cough and the pressurre isn't forcing any intestine out. So, this is like
  2. God help us then with the left wing demand to expand Medicare. Even with the state contribution, I am paying over $2000 a year for a supplement plus $82 a month for prescription supplemental insurance. I think I am also off of that scheme the article I read suggested. I am now dependent on government and not just private insurance, which has in their interest cutting costs. It was worth a try for the OP to at least mention it. Sorry for your issues and your mom's. I need a new knee. Have back issues enough to have me give up golf and occasional hip issues. Knock on wood! or
  3. I'm bitter. I hate those games. hehe
  4. Not me in the States but too many nights in Pattaya
  5. For sure writing is so important. Seinfeld took his stage act to TV. He paired with Larry David and his character was himself, a standup comedian. On the screen you have to be a good actor with a good vison of the character you are playing. That is where a good director comes in. I admire standup. No net. You sink or swim.
  6. I would be careful with that. A beloved bar owner is alleged to have lost it once over a favorite lady.
  7. Reminds me that with the exception of one book I got for Christmas last year, since 2016, I have read nothing but non fiction, history, politics, current events...time for a good escape. What is best that is new out there in the fiction realm?
  8. Lucky bastard then! The disease for once was worth the cure.
  9. I am no expert on this but I read an article in the States years ago about insurance companies finding it cost effective to send patients overseas. As your location says UK and I do not understand your national health plan, is there any chance that you could find information on medical tourism from the UK. It isn't much, I'm sure. Had you private health insurance, I would suggest starting with them. However, perhaps your government plan is also interested in less expensive options. I have no way of knowing that.
  10. As to Dangerfield, Caddyshack was great but he wasn't the main character but his part was funny as he antagonized Ted Knight's character. But that movie had Chevy Chase and Bill Murray.
  11. Mahrez good esp. 1st half Arsenal may have a good player in Guendouzi. He got better as he got more comfortable. Cech! Pick it up! jeez
  12. Arsenal very exciting but down a goal at the half.
  13. Those socks! Who selected the City kit? Must be color blind.
  14. About 20 minutes to the most interesting match of the first week. How will Arsenal perform under a new manager? Will Mahrez make a difference for City? City should dominate the table again but Liverpool made a statement today. Poor West Ham.
  15. I never cared for Atkinson. I didn't find Mr Bean at all funny but humor is subjective. I enjoyed Jerry Lewis but many Americans didn't. The French loved him.
  16. He was a late bloomer and Americans love self depricating humor. First standup, then late night TV and then movies. He paid his dues. One may not like his humor or his persona but he paid his dues.
  17. I watch many of these recommended shows, the gritty drama shows especially. As an ex-infantryman, does anyone know how to shoot out the tires of a vehicle. Don't ya think running on rims is less effective than running on rubber? Just a pet peeve. A lot of these shows fail me with their inability to simulate realism. They are still fun but I find myself nitpicking them too much. Please note I mentioned no titles. I am not singling any show out.
  18. That is why nothing in my checked baggage is a show stopper. Everything I have to have plus one change of clothes (+ 1 pair of shoes) is in my carry on. A lost bag is only a nuisance. I don't even use expensive luggage.
  19. Many decades ago there was this notion of the Ugly American traveler. It was because of the self righteous, holier than though attitude toward others. I think that contagion has spread to other cultures. Fortunately there is a cure. Being aware of that perception and not succumbing to it. I have no doubt that foreign officials know about it. Some may actually be hoping for it. Let's call it, The Ugly American Syndrome but note that it is not exclusive to Americans.
  20. A lot of incidents seem to center on people who don't understand how visas work or overstay a visa and exacerbate their problems by not showing deferential respect to foreign immigration officials. Yes situations can be bad but we can certainly contribute to making them worse. Best to exercise self control no matter how stressed we get. It is not our country and it is not our legal system.
  21. Yes the original was great. As an aside, Redford just announced his retirement from acting. I caught part of The Sting the other night. Such a great movie with a terrific cast. For a great Redford movie try Jeremiah Johnson.
  22. Vardy's point blank miss at 90:30 cost Leicester a point. Players I liked and disliked today. ManU: Sanchez. A big fat zero. Even late, when they need possession, he turns it over and that leads to the last second corner. Bailey. Strong guy. Played pretty well until late. Fred. Not impressed. They were talking him up in the US pregame show. I thought early he should have had a couple of yellow cards. The one he got he didn't deserve. Shaw. The goal bailed him out. He wants to be a midfielder. He supports on offense but one play at about midffield he made a horrible pass
  23. Where did the tradition of walking out hand in hand with children come from?
  24. She thought buying a return trip ticket and another long flight was unthinkable. She stated she is out 30,000 pounds in legal fees, drained the bank account and had to close her practice. Maybe she should have thought a little longer. I have seen people lose it in foreign countries at immigration control points. Do they stop to think that they are not in their home country? I think her definition of unthinkable may have changed.
