Social Darwinism. I can see how this can be spun against guns blah blah blah. But we do stupid things in many types of situation. I have an ex-brother-in-law who was not careful on a ladder and even after surgery has major problems with the shoulder he landed on. I took a drive a few weeks ago to Las Vegas, Grand Junction CO, Lakewood CO (outside Denver), Albuquerque and from Albuquerque headed to Flagstaff AZ. I don't mind as I need to sleep. From the time I left home until I arrive at the hotel is basically a full day with just a tiny bit of sleep. When I was working, I often worked the day I went to the airport as well. It can be an ordeal.

It is discouraging that Thai Air has given up west coast routes. I am not sure if they fly to the USA at all any more. Still, there are plenty of others flying there. EVA I believe is the only one that gets you to Swampy by late morning. All others land at night I believe. At least from our west coast.
