Mandatory registration of SIM cards in Thailand
JONPAT replied to DrPat's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The figure I read was that 90 million sims are unregistered. I just don't see how they can get them all registered in six months. It will end up worse than immigration where every office has their own interpretation of the rules and if you get a short tempered clerk you'll find out later that your registration didn't 'take'. If I give my phone/sim to another person, will it have to be reregistered ? If I lose the phone and I in trouble if I don't report it? Will I be shook down by some official in order to report a lost sim? -
Register your Thai Mobile Number or Lose it !
JONPAT replied to Fireman Sam's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I had to give my phone number on the TM7 for retirement extension, why the heck isn't that good enough for registration? They got my name, number, passport, address, and copy of my picture. -
I thought this was a Polish joke.

I always wonder what they do with the rest of the meat between evenings. Is it refridgerated or just covered with plastic or how the storage is done.

I've had pizza from there, not the best in Pattaya but far from the worst. At this price it would be worth one if you were hungry for pizza and in the area.

Roast Duck at Leng Kee Restaurant (update June 2, 2015)
JONPAT replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Mandarin is probably the on at Big-C 2nd rd; for sure Chinese influence. -
The pictures of the welts on the child were taken 5 days after the whipping. My opinion is Adrian Peterson went over the line. His penalty by the NFL is up to the contract he has with them. I'm sure the players union will see that he doesn't have scabbing welts 5 days later.

Good review, thanks for spending your time and money. Is there anything at the GF you think you might like to try?

Swamp Cabage with Mushrooms; Some kinda Fish; plus two large LEO and two cooling rags (15baht each); total was 956 baht. I though a bit expensive but it was delicious and healthy. -
USA Real United City USAREALUNITEDCITY probably should have added HAM or FC to the end, oh well, next year.

Update: Hamburgers and Other Food at Sky Bar on Soi Six
JONPAT replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
ok, I see. On facebook look for 'skeeter' not skybar -
I get mine cleaned every 3 months. The first time I got mine cleaned it was 800 baht, each subsequent cleaning was 500 baht. I'd like to think this was because the first time I wasn't a return customer. My girl friend hadn't had hers cleaned in two years, the charge was 1000 baht at the dental clinic she went to, not the one I go to. The place I go to is 'Dentqal Art Clinic' on North Soi Baukhoa, 502/34 Moo 10 ; 038-720-990 or 038-720-991 . I believe there is another one on Soi Lengkee that the dentist switch between. FYI, 2000 baht for a night guard. 2000 baht for a upper&lo

baht buses from jomtien to beach road
JONPAT replied to jay5678's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I stayed in Jomtien last season. It got to be a bother to catch bahtbus to/from Pattaya. Many times a bahtbus would be full when they pass you on Jomtien Beach road. The system of filling up the bahtbus on 2nd and Tai isn't all that bad except the drivers usually insist on getting six to a bench. Years ago when only Thai's (slim) boarded up that was ok, now fat westerners and fat Thai's just don't fix 6 to a bench. Sometimes I road in the cab, and paid 20 baht, but it was air conditioned. I could have been taken for a ride on the price, I didn't mind. -
International transfers (American Bank to Thai Bank)
JONPAT replied to simplelife's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
MM, do the financial institutions in USA charge for the ACH ? My Bank of America charges $3 for sending up to $1000. I can not send more at one time unless I signup for their OTP. Schwab bank doesn't charge anything. Social Security goes right to Bangkok Bamk New York branch and credited to my account next day. -
Try flossing once a day. Next cleaning your gums will not bleed.

Bad news for 30 day tourist visa exempt stamp holders
JONPAT replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I thought there were countries that don't get entry without visa, for these countries they do have to get a visa on arrival, (Latvia, Lithuania, Malta as examples) don't they? Anyways that is what Wikipedia says. -
Darn, Nid was using Squid Sauce instead of Fish Sauce. Still, it tasted alright.

that yogi taught me the 'hunch while typing' position. You can do it also in bars while sitting and sipping.

Where to drink good coffee in Pattaya?
JONPAT replied to chouttoumatte's topic in Restaurants and food
In USA McDonalds sells a good cup of coffee at a fair price, so does Burger King and Dunkin Donuts and Subway. Not as premium as connoisseurs want but good enough for plain people. Chic-N-Coop, a bar on 2nd road bar complex across from Mike's has a decent cup of coffee. -
International transfers (American Bank to Thai Bank)
JONPAT replied to simplelife's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I use Bank of America to ACH to the Bangkok Bank in New York City. I opened the Bangkok Bank account in Pattaya on 2nd Road down near Soi 6/1 while on a 60 day tourist visa. I ACH 1000 at a time and BAC charges $3 to do so. What Bangkok Bank charges I can not figure out but they do get it to my Pattaya account number. Occasionaly I transfer some money from Bangkok Bank to my Kasikorn bank at 12 bahts per transaction.
