I had good luck with a dentist named Dr. Bongkotrat (Dr Bee). She did two crowns for me a couple of years ago and I'm happy with the work. All in all it cost about 25000 baht (about 750 USD). Dr. Bee speaks good English. The office is clean and well equipped. Location: Pattaya Klang near Town in Town Hotel, 300 meters from Sukhumvit Road Telephone: 089-250-5757 or 038-716-444

If you're looking for a place to get this done, try Avenue Shopping Center on 2nd road across from Soi 13, second level just below the movie theater. I think its 100 baht. I haven't done this, mostly because it seems inherently dangerous. I someone does this with a foot disease or a fungus, couldn't the fish transmit this to you?

This is definitely cirque du soleil quality. I'd be surprised if some professional organization didn't snap her up. Awesome! -
Renovations at the Pattaya Beer Garden

That's good news, I think. Anyway, good luck. PBG is one of my favorites. -
Stayed in Jomtien for the month of April this year. Previously, have stayed in Patt soi 7, 8 and most recently soi 13. Found Jomtien too quiet (although the beach is generally better and the water cleaner). Spent a lot on time and money on the baht bus. Got tired of the back and forth. I'm going back to soi 13 next month.

FedEx is my preference. Used them several times.

Almost any hotel, just walk up to reception and ask. I have done this several times. Usually they want a few baht. If you stand there and watch, its pretty secure.

good luck.

I only ride the motorbike taxi when there are no other options. I have arthritis in my hip and I can't walk very far. So if I'm off the main roads, I will take one. In 10 years of visiting los, I have never had an accident, but I will admit to closing my eyes a few times.

Regarding the Kindle: Don't you have to worry about theft? What would you do with the kindle at the beach? Nobody is going to steal a used book from a beach chair... -
I recommend firefox. Better yet, people who know about these things, whose opinion I trust, recommend firefox.

Born in Canada, naturalized US, 10 years in Eastern and Western Europe, couple of years in SEA. Some people (non-native English speakers) say that I have no accent. I think our accents relate to our current environment. I spent 1 week in Texas years ago and came back with a Texan accent... for a few days anyway.

Too much money; too late at night. Hard to believe.

I plan to go to tukcom to rent a phone for a month. Any idea what I should be expecting to pay? I just want a cheap phone, calling in Thailand only. No camera, no international calling, could be used. Should I be looking somewhere else than just tukcom?

I use NOD32 from ESET.com. Highly recommended by pros.

I was in patts in October. No Mekhong anywhere. Asked the manager in the big liquor store on Pattaya Klang at 2nd road. He said, "Mekhong finit. No make no mo".

Fon tuk mak mak. ..pissing rain in Pattaya
puaa replied to dontcha's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Thanks for the pics. BTW I like a good rain once in a while. It cleans the streets and lowers the temp for a while. As long as these storms blow themselves out in an hour or two, they're a good thing. -
As to where and when... I've experienced songkran a total of 8 times. One in Chiang Mai (fun, mostly polite), Krabi (very quiet, a little soaking in and around the bars), 6 in Pattaya. You're mostly safe in your hotel, shops. You're going to get wet on just about every street in town and any outdoor bars (bar beer). You are not safe on a baht bus. Mornings are calm (the drunks are still sleeping it off). After 12 noon, plan on getting soaked. Passport, camera, wallet and anything not waterproof must be plastic-bagged. Chok dee.

Add to your list... The golden guy on the bicycle, The scary, white-faced old lady, Deformed beggars, Young children selling stuff after midnight, Punters sleeping it off in the morning in bar beers, Tattooed, pierced steroid-using body builders, The occasional elephant, gibbon, iguana, parrot, And on and on and on, Add your own...

I go to the expat meetings there. Nice facilities. Pool looks nice. Tour buses full of eastern Europeans (Poles, Russians?) Short walk to Soi 6. Haven't seen the rooms. Nor do I know the rates.

Thai Whiskey, straight, no ice (compares favorably to Caribbean rum).
