Precisely the point dear boy - I wouldn't fly half way around the world to drink the same stuff I get at home. Also it tastes like Siddiqi hooch in Saudi Arabia so I drink it with my eyes closed, feel glum, then open my eyes and see the beautiful Thai ladies. Off topic almost - just paid 689 euros for June '12 for Barcelona-BKK-BCN Swiss going Austrian coming back thus avoiding French strikers be they rail or air. Spanish probably too worried about their jobs (I hope). Almost half was tax - how do they do it? Main thing is - I have a ticket ! 1st visit in 2 years. You can always whack an "underdone" steak back on the barbie, if it's kizzened you can't go the other way. Good move by the chef there (wouldn't want a 500 baht sales price ingredient getting chucked!). Each country has its own definition of "medium" in my experience... Hi BB Not been any whispers of unrest in the UAE (Abu Dhabi - Etihad and Dubai - Emirates) that I'm aware of (someone might correct me...). There was some fuss in Bahrain (Gulf Air still use that as a hub?) but that's gone quiet. Qatar (of the Airways) also quiet except for kerfuffle about World Cup 20XX in summer or winter.... I wouldn't make any changes unless Libyan Arab Airlines/ways was my carrier of choice. Price/comfort issues still the main factor then - nice to be ABLE to go! Enjoy. Andy
