  1. Stay away from the fires...at least as much as possible since all of California seems to be on fire now

    Thai sim card

Not 100% positive but I suspect they are open 24/7. They are open when I arrive around midnight
  3. Hep A is a 2 shot vacine 6 months apart while Hep B is 3 ahots over 6-12 months. tetanus/diptheria within 10 years is also a choice, although thise should be up to date anywhere. For most people heading over, you will not be at much risk unless. If you plan on heading out to remote areas then maybe
  4. This question was debated a while back. The resident exoert at the time said it was not possible..the train only went part way. This in spite of being shown the schedule that it went to a station on the darkside. I have taken trains three times over 18 years (Bangkok to Chiang Mai in a 1st class sleeper car, Hua Hin to Bangkok in 2nd class sleeper and finally BKK to Pattaya in cheap charley class) I recall it was not the most comfortable ride, seats were a pain in the butt almost immediately. Schedules are not for anyone expecting to get to the destination even close to ontime. Still, i
  5. I was in line for 4 1/2 hours and got to the temple gates at 3. Not sure what circuit you refer to but but at 3 it was several short lines to get a flower and then to the plates to present it. A quick bow or curtsy and done. As you left, you got a pamphlet to commemorate the event From the time I entered the wpWat till finished seemed like a few minutes (5?) at most. Certainly nothing I would consider a long circuit
  6. Comparing 80's to now is totally lame. The world changes. Even Pattaya is totally different today
  7. I have been here several times during this period. Most of the sailors have to be home by midnight so only a few hours of criwds in the bars. They are WELL behaved and out in groups the few times I have seen them . The article mentions Satahip for the Navy so few will make the trek to Pattaya. Not sure why you would call the claim they have no effect fake news?
  8. Ever drive in Arab countries? Alexandria Egypt roads lanes mean nothing. Common to see far more cars then lanes. minor scraps are expected and routinely ignored. In Bahrain it is common to have cars driving on the shoulders, one time I even watched a car pull up on a sidewalk just to get to a roundabout a few seconds sooner.Thailand is far more civilized.
  9. He who dies with the most posts wins. Relevance or value is not a consideration
  10. Another article on the tax. http://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/cigarettes-alcohol-and-sugary-drinks-to-cost-more-in-thailand
  11. Airlines tend to be up to date on this. I used to fly AMS-BAH 2 times a year. Flights used to skip flying over Iraq until the air force threat was eliminated. Then they over Iraq
  12. seriously you show a post that is not a response to this thread to PROVE someone jumps on this this thread... nice try.. Post#9 here in THIS thread agrees that there are problems with short connections...but you refuse to read or comment on that. As for why I bothered to post to air anxieties and negativity ... do do even remain her what your response to my comment was ... Let me make it easier for you "Is there a high level of depression from where you hail? Just wondered, as your only comment was a negative one. A bit more of a positive outlook on life might help."
  13. Just how many people are interested in an open jaw flight out of LA and then having to find a way from Kuala Lumpor to Bangkok. After eliminating everyone not in the US, and then Those not in LA the response so far has been 0 posts patting you on the back for the great find. My response to your open leg cheap charley airfare was "55 minute connection .... no way I would risk that" Others have posted similar experiences....warnings to new international travelers that this is a concern......yet you have choosen to go totally nutcase only on me. Why the infatuation....I have absolutley no
  14. The flight you show is the last one that day. Later flight means next day or shelping bags to Haneda for a midnight deoarture. But whatever, you are an incredibly lucky person going theough life with things going 100% your way. Must be that positive attidude of yours. As for ANA taking care of you..yeah with the cheap charley fare you show you will be taken care of...LAST. Seroiuslythough....by saying not reading my long winded post, you mean just the last sentence? You obviously read the rest because you quoted it AND choose to bold a section. How about showing some class
  15. How does the representative help if your arrival in NRT is 60 minutes late? ANA's website says minimum of 45 minutes connection time...but that is only for no costs to you not a guarantee that you will make the connection. They certainly will not delay the departing flight for a few passengers, especially if it is already oversold. The trip meets that requirement so you would not be out of pocket for changes and they would reschedule you on the next available flight.... Maybe a different airline. Maybe the next day. Off the plane, Security screening and getting to the next gate has ta
  16. NO DEPRESSION. Not an egomanic either that can not take comments. I fly enough to know that on an international trip, short delays are not uncommon. A simple flight tracker search shows arrival times for the flight from LAX tendto be early....... BUT the flght departing LAX on 19 July arrived in Narita at 1644. Your 55 minute connection just shortend to 31 minutes. Unless you are flying in business class, are afrequent flyer with status to get preferential treatment and special security line access or counting on a delayed departure for your connection, you better hope that no other fl
  17. 55 minute connection .... no way would I risk that.
  18. They fly to HND from there. I was only looking at flights to NRT when they still had the NRT-BKK flight. No way would I fly into Haneda and depart from Narita. Moot point now since they have stopped Bangkok flights.
  19. The passengers on flights with no IFE systems would be in for a rude awakening if the US ever does ban electronics larger than cellphones. As for long non-stops, I can see it being a bit more convenient for passengers not to connect in A hub, but the airlines would have to see a market for daily flights to that market. The hub system was setup to enable airlines to fly full planes by consolidating pasengers from many depature points onto one flight to the destination. With more non-stops, many passengers would by SOL. I fly Delta and had to always connect in Tokyo to get to BKK. They
  20. Is that dog the small white one in the corner shop in th enew building? I thought that it only hated me. I am happy to hear it hates everyone...although it has never bit me.
  21. Just when would the airline accept a bid? I would suspect that as the flight fills, the amount bid would have to increase and low bids would not be accepted until the airline is almost certain they could not sell them. At say 50% full, you would expect a low bid to be accepted. At 90% full it would need to be close to the full price. Once on the plane, how would you feel seeing most people not travelling as a group having an empty seat that you just paid for. Another problem would be the possibilty of someone in a full row wanting to move to a row with only 1 person in it ( but paid for
  22. I had that same issue on my 3GS. Went to a phone shop in Tukcom and they fixed me right up and turned off internet. As for your old Iphone, if it is truely an original iPhone, it is worth a few bucks.... Apple never actually had an Iphone 2 but some people refer to the original as the Iphone 2 because it only supported 2g. Some Thai providers have said they will no longer support 2G, Not sure if that ever happened though
  23. Not much has changed. The road is alot busier and the baht buses have to make a left at the overpass. Rooms are still nice. If you ask nicely they still give you the rate (1500) they did before...at least for me :-)
  24. Yeah Hillary would have quietly taken care of it .... the heckler would commit suicide the next day and not disrupt her again
