  1. I've read on another board that Bobby had started doing the same thing for breakfast recently.
  2. To follow in the footsteps of one of our BMs who likes to be precise on member's posts, you definitely misread the post. If the post had been changed it would have been indicated on the bottom of the post that it had been edited. The first buffet place that I encountered that charged additional baht if you left an excessive amount of food was the BBQ place up on 3rd RD where you do your own cooking.
  3. ANA is part of the Star Alliance group and I've flown a couple legs with them when I use my airmiles for a free flight with United Airlines. I put them above United and Thai but below Singapore and Cathay Pacific. Whenever I'm in Narita for a connection I alwys use the ANA lounge instead of United lounge as they have better munchies plus ice cream.
  4. Not sure about any building inspector, do you really need one? Don't condo owners only own the interior of the unit? Also you should have a warranty period of a few years so you should have plenty of time to check out the workmanship, check your contract. I also put a deposit down on a condo last month, the Prime Suites near Foodland. The exterior is completed and about 75% of the units are completely done and occupied, but they are now doing the interior of my unit and have until the end of November before they have to pay me penalities. Its in their best interest to not drag it out becasue they receive the bulk of the funds upon completion. I also used the services of the Magna Carta and BM Tony. If your not aware you'll have some construction noise in your area for awhile. They just recently began construction on the Urban Suites which is located where the sales office was located for your condo. Hope you enjoy many years in your condo.
  5. Ibis is set back off of 2nd Rd and just north of Soi 1. Directly behind it is the soon to be open Holiday Inn and their 350 rooms which will be added to the Pattaya inventory. With the exception of the small guesthouses and hotels which will fill up quickly, I wouldn't be surprised to see lower prices this year during high season once it nears. Beside the troubled economies throughout the world, the Pattaya area keeps adding more and more rooms every year.
  6. Looks like a candidate for Big D's next place to call home in Pattaya.
  7. There is a new hotel that is soon to open just north of the Amari Orchid on Wongamat Beach called the Centara Resort. This place looked huge from the front as they were still working on the grounds when I last passed by so I couldn't do any exploring. This place reminded me of one of the posh hotels on the Vegas Strip. I have no details on price but it won't be cheap.
  8. I didn't look at that website so I don't know if it also offers the ability to see what seats are also booked. What I do is go to the airline website and look at the seats that have already been booked, then I'll select the seat that doesn't have anyone next to it. Even if I decide to book through a travel agent I'll know what seat I want. Doesn't work if your selecting well in advance of the flight.
  9. I don't know it name and I'm now back in the states so I can't check it out. If you have stayed at the Citin then it is west. Next to the Citin was a residential building then next to that was a vacant lot. Across for this lot (west) is where the new place is located. Also if you continue north on Soi AR a few minutes walk from the Citin and near Jamesons, 2 more places should be ready in the next few months. Another Nova and the other place doesn't have a sign yet.
  10. A place called either The Mook or The Mooks opened a few months ago. It's located on 3rd Rd just north of the enterance to Carrefour. Don't know the price but if your interested and no one can provide it I'll be back in Pattaya around mid Sep and can check for you. Also nearby a condo called TW Condominum just opened and they were advertiseing rates at around 14K, don't know if it will stay that price till you arrive.

Fortunately I never had the desire to smoke. Not only is the smoking bad for ones health it is also costly. This cost savings allows me to sometimes be a LDOP but at least I'm not a LDS.
  12. Bring a tent if you want to stay at the Little duck as its currently under major renovation. Many small places around this area just off of Pattayaklang. Just noticed a new place down the small soi where the LK is located plus another new place just opened down from the Citin.
  13. A word of caution on those seats. The seat next to the window is not all that good as the emergency exit door protruds from the fuselage of the aircraft and prevents one from stretching their feet out in front of them, get the aisle seat if possible. Also because the trays are within the armrest you will be siting in a smaller space as your hips will be confined to the seat and cannotextend under the armrest, not a problem if your not a big guy.
  14. The Sabai Empress opened earlier this year and is located on the corner of Soi 1 and 2nd Rd. They are currently running a 50% discount so for 1250 you can have a new room with pool on the roof, lift, I believe they have in room safe, don't know about wifi but they have free use of a computer down in the lobby for guests.
  15. No problem, however I didn't direct anyone to a website so I was not familiar with the quote.
  16. Soi AR is located off of Pattayaklang between Buakaow and 3rd Rd. It will go about half way toward North Pattaya Rd and then take a turn towards 2nd Rd and intersect at Bangkok Bank just about opposite Soi 6. At this bend it will intersect with another road that will continue north and runs directly behind the Big C and intersect with North Pattaya Rd. The Amari Nova is next door and Jamesion's and Nova Park just a few meters away.
  17. I got the right place and even checked out a room back when it first opened about 4 years back. I'll mention again that there is pile driving going on now.
  18. Vance, I was refering to the one that you provided on the website which is located between Soi 15 and Buakaow.
  19. Haven't stayed but be aware that some new construction has started on the other side of the soi, pile driving going on right now but not a problem if your up around 8AM.
  20. It's been around for a couple of years and right now its surrounded by new condo construction (the Urban and the Nova) which should be almost finished by the end of the year.
  21. If its the place that I think, then its less than 30 seconds from Pattayaklang on the small soi the runs north of the Soi Buakaow/Pattayaklang intersection. I would be very surprised if they even have a website. There are numerous small hotels/apartments/mansions in Pattaya that are very cheap. If you want websites then be prepared to pay more for accomodations, but if you want to save some baht then surf the sois instead of the internet.
  22. Many places available this year offering special deals with more hotels opening every month. I took a friend to the Siam View on Soi AR. 4500 baht a week with lift and pool on the roof. Free wifi and if you don't hvae your own lpatop they have 2 computers down in the lobby free for the guests.
  23. Hilton is scheduled to open 3rd quarter 2010. The Holiday is susposed to have around 350 room while the Centara has about 550 rooms and the grounds are huge. Centara looks like a resort one would see on the Las Vegas Strip.
  24. This hotel is located on Thappraya (sic) Rd which is the main road between Pattaya and Jomtien. Its just a very short distance to where the Marine Plaza hotel is located. From the Marine Plaza hotel you can either take the short walk to Walking St either going towards Covent Gardens or past the Coyotee go-go and Blues Factory to Walking St.
  25. I know of 2 things that have changed in the last 4 years, a fuel surcharge has been added and the BKK departure tax is now included in the ticket. Singagpore is a great airline and I'm always thrilled when United places me with them when I'm using my United airmiles and flying free. However I'm not that excited about that price. I just bought a ticket on United departing on the 2nd of Jul from Sacramento for about $970 USD. That includes the domestic leg plus my stay is 47 days (best fares for United are more than 7 and no more than 30 days stay) so if someone was flying out of LAX or SFO for less than 30 days they would have a lower price and if their flight was after Sep probably even lower. Plus I'll earn a little over 34,000 miles or slighty more than 1/2 of what is required for a free flight.
