  1. The one next MaxxCity opened a couple of months ago, IIRC. When they built it several years ago, it looked like it was going to be a combination of food and beer bars, but then Covid hit. At one time I heard one of the best ROI businesses in Pattaya were laundry businesses.
  2. 2nd Rd intersection with Soi 15, the hole has gotten bigger. The work on burying utility lines is also moving south on 2nd Rd. Another Otteri wash & dry place has opened adjacent to Nirun. Good to see them planting something other than more beer bars and cannabis shops.
  3. Today's Soi Mud (previously known as Soi 15) update. Please take a moment to admire the quality Thai workmanship on leveling the concrete. Happen to come at the right time to watch them moving a section of the large drain pipe. As they started on the turn where I positioned myself to take pics, I realized as I watched the pipe start to sway I was in an untenable position. With the concrete wall behind me and a large pipe swinging it had all the makings for a very bad ending for me. Found a safer positio
  4. Sure glad my mode of of transport is two wheels. Four wheel traffic is backed up on 2nd Rd from The Avenue to M.I.T. v2 due to work on burying utility lines.
  5. Today's Soi 15 disaster update. Not easy to see in this photo, but the seam on the left side of the DIY access tube hasn't been sealed and you can see the backfill looking for an escape route into the drain. The concrete fix they made a month or two ago to bring the road surface level with the top of the drain gate is already spalling off. Another not easy to see in the photo, but looking down into the drains on the completed section of Soi 15, every one is filled to the top of the drain pipe with sand and gravel. Someo
  6. My guess is that's the footing for a crane, which means it's going to big one going into that piece of land. The pics of what's getting built might make for a good new topic along the lines of "What Is Rising In Pattaya", if you're so inclined.
  7. The warning applies to pretty much everywhere in Pattaya.
  8. I expect rents are pretty steep on Beach Rd, so probably not enough customers to cover operating costs.
  9. Be nice if that were an Olympic size, 50m swimming pool they're putting in. One can dream. 🏊‍♂️🛌
  10. Today's Soi 15 update. The owners of the two pairs of shoes were in the pipe and looked to be clearing it of debris. Wonder how they're going to repair the separated sections of pipe. One would have expected them to do that before they backfilled. The backhoe threw a shoe. Korando's is now riverfront property. Nothing happening on the 2nd Rd end. There's something definitely wrong with the project when the pipe is full of water and we haven't had rain in over a week.
  11. If only reality would catch up with what the AI has produced. Heck, we'd all be happy if it was just plain, old, boring concrete for a road surface.
  12. Noticed last night quite a back up in traffic on 2nd Rd. First obstruction is at the Soi 15 intersection. Then starting at The Bayview they're digging holes in the road again. The holes are for putting utility conduit underground. No idea why they're doing this again as last year they had the road dug up for the same reason. Amazing Thailand.
  13. Soi 15 progress update. I like the new water feature on the soi. The headwaters for the Soi 15 creek. At the pace they're putting the concrete road in, there's no way they'll have it finished by the end of this month.
  14. After an unpleasant encounter with a Chinese couple at Bali Hai a group of us had a great day out yesterday drinking and swimming while anchored off the Ko Sak beach, the small island just north of Ko Lan. Paying the price today with a nice shade of red on my face and upper body.
  15. WS with overhead signs removed. XS Gogo is getting a new sign. Annoys me to no end the selfish pricks that block the footpath with their parked vehicles.
  16. Soi 15 update. I saw on another forum a picture the section of pipe with the access tube "welded" to it in the ground, but with the weld having broken. I didn't think of it when I first saw them redneck engineering an access tube, but I can understand now how the idea might not have been such a good one. While fairly stiff the HDPE can flex when the fill is placed around and over the pipe. Add to that the weight of any machinery used to pack the fill down and it's not surprising the welded joint would separate. I believe the picture below is the section whe
  17. ^^^ Good exercise hiking up the hill, or did you use Bolt?
  18. I only using booking sites (esky.com and google.com/travel/flights) to find flights in the price range I'm willing to pay. I then book directly with the airline. If things go pear shape on my flight, I'm in a much better position to get help on rebooking by dealing direct with the airline.
  19. Another shower? Have they finished the first one yet? Pic below from the 12th, and it's been like that for several weeks before that pic.
  20. @blue_flag, would you mind if I request the mods move this very interesting topic to the General Discussion about Pattaya section. A friend passes the time using Adobe Illustrator for designing shirts and I'd like to send him a link to this topic as an example of what the bleeding edge of photo shop programs looks like. Perhaps he and others might join the forum when they see topics like this being discussed. What is the module that produced these results called? When we talked I think you mentioned AI generated, is that correct?
  21. Just amazing how far the photo editing software has progressed over the years.
  22. Never in my wildest imagination of where I would end up during my retirement years did I imagine I'd be having fun slogging through the jungles of SEA. But here I am and mostly enjoying every minute of my retirement here.
  23. Pics from yesterday's hash run. To say it was a wet trail would be an understatement. So when the heavy rains came it didn't do much to dampen our spirits. Of course, Eskys full of beer helped too. 👣
  24. No time today as I'll be heading out shortly for a hash run in the jungle. Perhaps now that @blue_flag is back in Pattaya he can amble by Soi 15 and take a few pics.
