Songthaew Fares in Pattaya
DP Gumbypgh replied to papillon's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Almost as much as the forum needs another Baht bus thread, I am sure that all of the baht bus drivers are reading the drivel from the OP and are waiting with bated breath to find out what they should be charging. -
Traditional barber shop
DP Gumbypgh replied to Nightrider's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Nearly all the barbers put in a new razor blade in the holder before shaving you. Only ever seen one with a cutthroat razor and he was only trimming with it after a haircut. Getting shots for Hep A and B should be recommended for anyone. Next you'll be recommending that we should be using condoms. -
New Cherry Bar Opening Party - 15th September
DP Gumbypgh replied to Hammer's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
The article was first published in October 2012 I think, they just recycle a lot of their stories if they don't have anything new to publish -

I stand corrected never tried to cook them but my mother made ones that tasted more like Scratchings, they were cooked in the oven and not deep fried.

You can buy Crackling from street vendor almost 24 hours a day in Pattaya. Any time there is a roasted pig at a party you can get it too.

The dreaded Pattaya cough
DP Gumbypgh replied to teelack's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Great video, have tried about half of the foods that he showed, the Putrid fish and the raw cow wouldn't even try for health reasons. -
Thanks Atlas2 you have summed up exactly why I have been living here for four years now. The same comparison works with the USA too. I don't know why all of the doom sayers are still in pattaya if it is so bad now. Perhaps they can't afford to go back to their home countries and not work.

My Way has the best Filet Mignon that I have had in Pattaya and is relatively cheap 345 baht for two good sized pieces. Located across the arcade from Beefeater

I concur with Idefix. Been living right in front of it for over a year now and have never been bothered at all by the cremations. -
Calling a Toll Free 1800 Number in Thailand?
DP Gumbypgh replied to biggles's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Must agree with the previous poster. Just did same in Pattaya. Only other thing that is also needed to call 1-800 nos is you must have some credit on your Skype account, the 1-800 nos are still free but without the credit Skype will not let you call a non Skype no in the USA. -
You can contact Mike via his website http://www.amuzingthaicartoons.com/ or email him at AmuzingThaiCartoons@yahoo.com He sells them as ebooks mainly but can buy originals from him too. He doesn't make any money out of them, all proceeds go to charity.

Yes they take it out every year ( 700 first year and 500 baht after that.)

Depends what coverage you are talking about and for what vehicles. I paid $400 per year for third party coverage on a Jeep Grand Cherokee and about $500 per year when I had comprehensive coverage with about a $500 deductible In the USA

Don't worry Mightyone JP is not affected had a policeman come in and tell them to turn the music down once but that was it.

I first opened a Kasikorn account 18 months ago on a tourist visa to get ready for retirement visa/extension, very easy and no complaints about them. Got the retirement extension with letter from bank. Without warning TDAmeritrade stopped doing business with Thai banks and would not wire transfer money to my Kasikorn account. This forced me to open an account with the Bangkok Bank, very easy when you have a thai driving license as ID. They have a New York branch which allows ACH transfers (these are similar to wire transfer but cheaper and take two to three days instead of being next day) They also have a London branch which can do the same with swift type transfers. Comparing the two banks: Bangkok is cheaper per year and has less fees when transferring money from the USA. Kasikorn's Internet banking is better and also allows you to top up your phone easily. Kasikorn has many more ATM's in Pattaya than Bangkok Bank. This is not much of a problem now that you are allowed to use other banks ATM's four times a month without charge. It's only 20 baht per withdrawal after that. Bangkok Bank is also the only bank that USA Social Security Pension's can be sent to when you are eligible. Overall Bangkok bank is probably a better one to open an account at if you can meet all their requirements.

You will be killed in your room
DP Gumbypgh replied to Hami123456's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
No we just do not believe all the shite posted on the internet. Cut and paste the actual bit you are objecting to and post a link to the original post and we might believe you are not a troll. -
Do forum members have to be in the bar before 10:30pm to get the happy hour all night promotion? The situation I mean is if I come to your bar at 12:00 and ask for the two for one drinks will I still get it? By the way was in your bar two night ago and had a reasonable line up. Shows were going on as before so you are back on my list of places to visit.

Love the way they are ignoring the ATV behind them that is illegal to drive on streets in Thailand I think. I wait for JK to correct me on this if I am wrong.
