  1. Are you sure they are boarding cards? Could they simply be a sturdier form of ticket? Second question; No and yes, 72 hours before, to be safe. I don't though. Depends on who you are flying with. Check with the airline.
  2. It's about eight baht per bottle. Maybe you should purchase the European and American rights to it, as was done with the original Red Bull from Asia, by an Austrian. I think he's doing quite well now.
  3. ...or the 90 baht air con coach from Sukhumvit Soi 63, if you're on a tight budget.
  4. Every cashpoint machine that has a VISA sign will dispense cash with a Nationwide Debit Card. There is one, as I remember, just as you leave customs.
  5. Nightcrawler You're a TWAT! Apart from those that live and work there, I probably spend more time there than anyone on this board. I just don't make a song and dance about it. Possibly because I am not there for P4P. In fact for years I thought the P4P scene consisted of Patpong. I never had any contact with that side of Thailand. Reading these boards has certainly opened my eyes as to what goes on there. I have gleaned interesting info from the boards and attempt to give something back in return. Hence four hundred plus posts... I don't care if you want to run around the streets playing with the rubbish or whether you pay girls to sleep with you. That's up to you. All I ask you to do is to f**k off and leave me alone. I don't want to have anything to do with the likes of you. Goodnight
  6. American Express TCs are best overall. You'll appreciate the difference if you ever have a problem.
  7. Richerts It doesn't matter who your ATM card is from. You will still pay a cash withdrawal charge(That's your £1.75 per withdrawal) plus, a foreign exchange commission of between 2.5 and 2.75% per withdrawal(This is not indicated on your statement, but is included in the fine print of the terms and conditions) That's a minimum cost of around £4.50 per £100, providing you take out at least £100. It you withdraw less, the cost goes up. Contrast this with the 1 to 2% cost(spread from the mid market rate) with Sterling TCs and the Nationwide debit card which has no cash withdrawal charge or foreign exchange commissions. Their debit card forex rate is normally within 1% of the 'wholesale' mid market rate.
  8. Don't you be worrying if it's good value. You've already paid for it. As for whether you have to pay the joiner fee. Firstly, speak to the manager and assure discretion. Maybe they'll waive any joiner fees. If not, it's up to you. ST rooms can be had from 250 baht for all night. As for the Cashpoint/TC question.... Unless you have a Nationwide Building Society debit or credit card, take AMERICAN EXPRESS STERLING travellers cheques. At the standard 1% charge, they'll cost you £10 per £1000. The exchange rate you will receive in Thailand will be approx 1% higher than the cash rate for Sterling. So, you won't lose out. Again, if you haven't a Nationwide debit card, the rate that you receive with cashpoint access will be worse than you receive via Pound Sterling TCs. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are not from the UK.
  9. Each time I have called Ebookers, I have been routed through to India. With the result that some 'complicated' queries may not get answered. Calling at nighttime should ensure you get put through to the Delhi centre. I was so p***ed off, I booked with someone else. Saved money too.
  10. From the original post: Another way to send SMS to Thailand is to use Yahoo Messenger's SMS service. It's free. Download here: http://messenger.yahoo.com/messenger/downl...structions.html What other countries were you hoping to send to?
  11. 2banana38 AIS/One2Call refill cards work thus: Refill Card consists of 300 Baht of Calltime Refill Card can be used 30 days 500 Baht of Calltime Refill Card can be used 50 days 800 Baht of Calltime Refill Card can be used 100 days http://www.one-2-call.com/One2Call/th/scri...lang=eng&menu=2 Just to give an example of how uncompetitive One2Call call costs are; Same service zone/ network 5 Baht/min Cross service zone/ network 8 Baht/min Remarks: 1. In case of making a call to number under AIS coverage or local phone Same service zone dialing means dialing to a number registered in the same zone as where One-2-Call! Phone is actually in use. Example One-2-Call! Phone, registered in Bangkok, is used in Chieng Mai to call 053-xxx-xxx (a local number in Chieng Mai) or to call a mobile phone under AIS coverage in Chieng Mai. The tariff will be 5 Baht/min. Cross service zone dialing means dialing to a number registered in the different service zone from where One-2-Call! Phone is actually in use. Example One-2-Call! Phone, registered in Bangkok, is used in Chieng Mai to call 0-2xxx-xxxx (a local number in Bangkok) or to call a mobile phone under AIS coverage used in different service zone. The tariff will be 8 Baht/min. In case of making a call to other mobile number than that under AIS coverage, the tariff will be calculated depending on the service zone. Example 1 One-2-Call! Phone, registered in Bangkok, is used in Chieng Mai to call 0-1xxx-xxxx (a cross network number) registered in Bangkok but used in Chieng Mai. The tariff will be 8 Baht/min. Example 2 One-2-Call! Phone, registered in Bangkok, is used in Chieng Mai to call 0-1xxx-xxxx (a cross network number) registered in Chieng Mai. The tariff will be 5 Baht/min. 3. Service Charge: Less than 1 minute airtime will be counted as 1 minute. The 7%VAT is included http://www.one-2-call.com/One2Call/th/scri...?lang=eng&menu= They do have a 'Special' tariff; Friend Net New Freedom for One-2-Call! users Hold on together and the rate is 4 baht/min* regardless of service zone nationwide when you call a number under AIS coverage: One-2-Call!, GSM advance and GSM 1800. *Valid until December 31, 2003. Remarks: Service Charge: Less than 1 minute airtime will be counted as 1 minute. The 7%VAT is included http://www.one-2-call.com/One2Call/th/scri...lang=eng&menu=2 They have a Freedom Bonus which is written entirely in Thai script. Nice. http://www.one-2-call.com/One2Call/th/scri...lang=eng&menu=2 So, how you obtain either of these tariffs remains unknown. Compare this complicated nonsense to DTAC/Dprompt's offering; http://www.happydprompt.com/en/index.html Charged per second, not per minute. 5 baht per minute nationwide for the first two minutes and then 2.5 baht per minute. 3 baht for the international SMS opposed to the 9 baht charged by AIS/One2Call. Plus, you can choose a time slot where calls are 2.5 baht per minute from the very start.
  12. The SIN - Samui flight was fine. I was a little concerned about a two and half hour on a plane with propellers. In fact, there are five 'International' airports in Thailand; Bangkok Chiang Mai Hat Yai Phuket Chiang Rai I'm still not sure it is possible to avoid the Samui Airport 400 baht tax by trying to check your luggage all the way through. Samui Airport is a privately owned airport. Using the Discovery Airpass will save you a substantial amount on the Singapore - Samui route.
  13. As far as I know, the free transport is a minibus from Soi Nana. I would prefer the air con bus from the bus station at 90 baht. So, jhk, the value of the transport is closer to 90 baht than 3000 baht.
  14. You can. In that case there would be the 500 baht airport tax payable. Forgot about Samui - Singapore route. I flew that route recently. 'Domestic' referred to the airport that Samui flights terminated at...Bangkok Domestic.
  15. yselmike There is airport tax and an insurance fee on domestic flights.
  16. http://www.dynastyinn.com/dy_rate.htm No pics though 1200 baht for double occupancy doesn't seem like good value to me.
  17. http://www.sawasdee-hotels.com/index.html I've seen a fair amount of young ladies hanging around the one in Soi Honey Inn. They may stay there, as it's inexpensive.
  18. http://www.woraburi.com/ http://www.woraburi.com/new/woraburi_inn/w...raburi_inn.html
  19. I'm not sure that is the case, Gus. Samui is not an international airport. It is a privately owned domestic airport, so the hefty 400 airport tax isn't a government tax. Also the flight terminates in the Domestic terminal. The 500 baht International Departure Tax from Bkk Int. is always payable as it is never included in the fare. So, it seems both taxes are unavoidable. If anyone knows different, let me know.
  20. http://www.sandyspringhotel.com/ Just tried it....it seems to be working.... Taking a second look, there is only a front page. None of the links are working.
  21. NightCrawler Dear oh dear.. My statement was that Boxing was a form of self defence, not Thai Boxing. You really should learn to read. Luckily for you, fat boy, I'm taking this with good humour. Newbie? You idiot! I don't know how you surmised from my posting on another board, that I'm a newbie. I certainly didn't understand your reasoning and I'm sure any else on this board, if they could be bothered to read your crap, wouldn't either. This thread has been viewed over 900 times and it seems you are the only one angry about something, yet you haven't posted a single relevant piece of information. Also, every single assumption you have made about me is completely wrong! You are a spectacular arse! I know you think that you're a big bad boy, but..... If it would be important for me to take action, I would. Really? I don't care. There are far more important things to me than hurting you physically. There a huge gap about talking and fighting. I know you're a talker. I don't give a sh*t about what you do for a job, though tell me, why this job? Good hours? Good pay? Is it that you get lots of time off to go P4P in Pattaya? Was it that the school system couldn't see your true genius? Tell me. From what you written here, you sound to me like a fat, ugly uneducated saddo. If you want to come on here, making assumptions and throwing abuse around then you will get people making assumptions about you. Now, do me a favour, **** off, so we can get back to the purpose of the board. That's sharing info, not listening to your [smiley=bullshit.gif]
  22. I wasn't aware that I called you a liar. We have differences of opinion, both valid. I asked for details of fares, that you mentioned, which were not forthcoming. Never mind. My original statement about Thai Airways Economy cabin being somewhat behind the competition you didn't agree with. So what? We are allowed to have our own opinions. Some will see my point, some will see yours. It's a little sad that you feel it fitting to defend Nightcrawlers actions. My reference to his lack of 'brains' was linked to the stupidity of his threats of violence, against someone who knows nothing about, for the purposes of...? He puts himself in possible danger, to involve himself in an online debate about airline flights. Which, did not involve him and to this date he has not contributed anything to the debate. That I attribute to a lack of 'brains'. I was/am genuinely interested in the fares that you have mentioned and I am sure many people who read this board would like to avail themselves of them. You have refrained from posting where we can get them, thus far. Do we call you to get them? If you wish to keep these details to yourself because you intend to sell these ticket yourself, then I fully understand. Your reference to Hitler isn't worth commenting on. Your comments on boxing? There is something wrong with the people that watch it? What about football hooligans? Drunken rugby fans? You seem to be quick to judge people, though not so quick to see the impression that you are making. There is an art to boxing. It is an art of SELF DEFENCE. I don't go around hitting or threatening people. If I do, it is only in my defence. Why comment on something you know nothing about? "Lacking in intelligence and comprehension"? That statement is pure nonsense. Stick to what you do well and advise us where to get cheap fares UK to Bkk. The people that read this board aren't aren't 'sheep'. If you post something, don't expect it not to be scrutinised. Don't let yourself down.
  23. As a dustman, I'm not expecting you to have much in the way of brains. So far you have made a number of assumptions that are incorrect. First you assumed that Crackpot and I had a problem, that I was old. Then that I had been to Thailand once. That I do all of my training in Pattaya.... I normally train in Thailand in the winter(December to April) After training on Samui, I fly to U Tapao and stay in Pattaya to visit friends and keep up my training before heading to Bkk and... I don't like to talk about fighting. If it's it going to happen, I deal with it then. Talk is cheap. I don't want to judge you, but so far you seem like a total dickhead. How about you just stay quiet and stop showing your lack of intelligence. So far, you've contributed nothing to this board, but [smiley=bullshit.gif] You're a long way from getting me mad. Now go away and get on with your life.
  24. Just in case you don't like tracking cookies like ad.doubleclick..... http://www.singaporeair.com/usa
  25. I don't know anything much about the Diana Inn. I took a look at their rooms once. There were a little old. They do seem to have a variety of properties though. Here is the URL; http://www.dianapattaya.co.th/diana.html
