Strategically hung plastic snakes. I use them behind my air con to stop the buggers shitting down my wall. Used to happen everyday. Now not once in 4 years.

Despite the muslim Mona Lisa avatar, and the English sounding board persona I 'ken' you're a proud and unbiased 'Scotchman' yourself. And I'll add as cannie as a jewish bookie on Derby Day. So not surprised to find you're right.....As always! However, I was surprised to learn that Don Budge joined a Scottish duo already well known, for their wee pipes, called the 'Gay Gordons' And formed with them a new group called 'The Kilt-Lifters'....The full band line-up, (best read with a scottish lilt) was.....Ben Doone....Phil Mc'Cavitie and .....Don......Budge.

Murray is a proud Scot thru and thru. His victory in the US Open is for Scotland first and Britain second. His Gold medal is for Scotland first and Britain second. Nothing wrong in that! Connery and Ferguson would have him by the pubic hair if it were any other way. 99% of the kudos and the credit goes to Scotland. That's how it is. As a proud Englishman first and a Briton second I support the English over everyone and Britons over everyone else, so I wanted Murray to do it and was pleased that he did..... ....But 'If' there was an Englishman out there, that was in Murray's 'parish' in terms of ability to thwack a tennis ball, and they were matched together then...... I'd be damning Murray as a'scotch' (winds them up) bastard........... That's only natural, isn't it?? As it stands, well done Murray you thoroughly deserved both these victories...... And if us English take a measly 1% of the kudos, it's only fair, as being British you've had fer' yerselfs a similar % in that English twat, Fred Perry's success for 76 years. I think that explains it bigDelta

Bugger...I got up and watched the first 3 sets...... thought I couldn't take the disapointment of him losing another final which looked likely in the 4th and decided to get in an early 9 hloes of golf before I was too depressed......Got home and he's kissing the cup. I should have more faith! Well done.

There are a few things that make me cringe to be English.........This is one of them. ...........Even worse than being an American and knowing that the world can see Republican or Democrat Conventions.

I always give a tip. Usually it's 'don't try to tie your laces in a revolving door!'

I read yesterday of 2 guys in a Honda jazz giving about 40 bike riders hogging the road abuse and then pulling a gun and killing one and wounding others before driving off towards South Pattaya.

Firstly, I have a problem with the flouting bit. I couldn't tell you the difference between a 5000 bt tesco bike whizzing by and any other......I'm sure there are those that could........But I couldn't and I think I'm in the majority. The guy just wants a good bike to ride, not to keep in a 'safe' as an investment, or to hang on his wall to look at. Bikes are made for riding. Secondly, I could, if I wanted to 'sound' much braver than you Tomcat, sitting here as i am, in a corner of a restaurant with my tea infront of me and a full breakfast on the way.... but I'm pretty sure my brave sounding words would just be 'bravado'. Faced with 2 unpredictable Thais, pointing a gun at my naughty-bits.....on a empty road...in the middle of nowhere I'd give the bike up. But that's just me, an honest coward. 'Maybe' you'd do exactly as you as you 'say' you would do. Maybe you would. Anger makes strong men stronger yes? Let me posit a situation. You're driving a car down a lonely road. Some idiot cuts you up and you nearly crash. That 'fear' you just felt fuels your anger. You charge after the bastard flashing your lights and screaming out of the window. The car infront stops. Blocking your way. 'Good, this f..ker's gonna get it now.' 4 men with baseball bats climb out of the other car. I'm betting, if we are all being honest here... That the anger fuelled 'bravery' instantly evaporates and our natural survival instincts take over........This is in 'reality'! What would we do now? For me Tomcat, I head for the hills.....Sod the car. I was angry, I made a miscalculation, a mistake but I can't protect it against these odds and I don't want to die for it............... .................UNLESS? .....Unless my son is sitting in the car. If he is.....these 4 guys had better be prepared to die.......Because I would be prepared to kill and to die..... For him. I've learned over 60 years that 'Love' as naff as it sounds, is stronger than any other emotion. It overides and conquers all the others. Anger, hate, 'bravado' sound tough, but they are not in love's league. Now, if you 'loved' that bike Tomcat I'd believe all you 'say' you'd 'do' and that you're a brave man.....otherwise it's just a question of numbers.

old TV series that you wish you could watch again

Great stuff! Thanks Barreta I shall have a look on TW see what else was about right. Did anyone see the thing about Masers in the news today....... 100 million times the power of normal microwaves. A British scientist (of course) but based on a decades old Japanese paper......Attributed to scrap machinery and a nagging wife it's a hell of a story. Google news today. -
I was a professional cyclist..........I rode professionally for eight years and for hard cash.........Up and down Harley street delivering papers.......Hated Sundays! Falang cyclists in Thailand are 'enthusiasts'. I know a few and it's sometimes all they talk about.... 'Kevlar wheels' and the latest 'sprokets'. It's all greek to me....I move over to another table and stick-up 'Pattaya Talk'. But on behalf of cyclists ...They may ride expensive bikes to 'show off' to other enthusiasts, but most want a bike light enough to pick up with a finger, strong enough to absorb the bumps..........and sufficiently geared to be able to compete in speed with other enthusiasts. These bikes are expensive. I couldn't tell you one bike from another so if it's flaunting, as in the same as wearing gold in 'plane' sight it is wasted on me and on most of us i'd suggest. I quickly passed on 4niceights useful warning to some friends but they already knew. .......You have to feel sorry for our 'enthusiast', out on his dream bike, enjoying the fresh air and the exercise, minding own his business and then.... having his, 'pride and joy' nicked...... ....'And' to rub salt in.... to be told that by riding his bike.....he's as stupid as a soi 6 strumpet, flauncing about on her high heels and flouting her bling. Oh yes, but he's not done with yet!......The poor sod is basically a coward to boot for failing to act as some people 'say' they would. I don't think to two situations compare.

I know how Sam meant the title..... and that after our slow start he felt maybe it didn't suit.....But it always suited..........everyone. From everywhere.

10 more golds in London!

I like to dip into other countries Google News to get the comparitive views. From what I read in the Australian news, their Channel 9 were really appalling actually making The Ausssies angry.

As for 'Fornicator' himself, one of his old school reports has come miraculously to light, it reads..... English Grammar. '.......and his tendency to over-use the exclamation marks not only means that he fails to emphasize the point, it also makes the reading of his work more akin to trying decipher a, 'bar code.'

I can't speak for all the subjects but On behalf of 'Latin' ......XXX

What was so gay? Ok, George Michael was sporting some new bugger's-grips that made him look like, 'Yosemite Sam'. And true, he was walking a bit lightly in the loafers in the 2nd number, looking like he was waiting for 'Village people to turn up, (They're a well known butch US group). ....and 'One Direction' looked like they might travel in both. ........And the Pet Shop boys are not 100% straight ...... But apart from that?

I think the movie was banned in parts of Wales until last year.

Would like to see a bit more of Darcey's Bussel!

old TV series that you wish you could watch again
atlas2 replied to LocalYokul's topic in Idle Chit Chat
I agree with Nus01 we were easier to please then and most of these shows would not be the hits they were today....unless they were jazzed up. But that almost doesn't matter....... I brought back with me from my last trip......... numerous old tv series that i just wanted to see, 'one more time'. The cars, the street furniture and the clothes of the London I grew up in........The social mores and attitudes that have changed.......(some for the better), I've enjoyed, for one reason or another all the stuff I crammed into my case and brought 'home' to Thailand. But there's not much I'd show my son and say, "You'll love this" For me they're a personal journey, from the pre-PC and banned early, 'Popeye cartoons' to the still edgy and gritty, "Callan The Monochrome Years". As Paul Simon said...."Preserve your memories they're all that's left you" -
Those locks that fit over the handles are a good sign that no one's home... but they seem to work as a deterrent. I think leaving a condo for a few months at a time is less of a risk than renting it out. In my block unscrupulous agents have rented condos out without the owner's knowledge. Also in the past young Thais have rented condos....copied the keys and used the rooms for weekends.......One owner coming back to find a doz' pairs of shoes outside his room. 2 scare stories for sure..but true. Many rent out regularly and do so without problems...but if it's going to be somewhere you want to live in yourself, unless you've got someone you trust to keep a good eye on things for you I wouldn't bother.

Balanced refereeing ....... He made the right decision .....then felt the need to balance that with a wrong one.
