Ummm Soi 7, if you are talking about the same day we went and raced......I seen to remember you being pushed around the track by a rescue car most of the time! That was damn good fun flying past you at 60 mph! Cheers, Mark
-
Pottercess, It's a bit late for me as well. We'll see you in PTTY. Pieman, I've sent you a PM. Cheers, Mark

Anyone interested in sharing a taxi Sept. 18th to Pattaya? I'll be at Nana and would be interested in sharing a taxi. Cheers, Mark
-
If by chance you are staying at the "Sky Top" hotel...I'm quite POSITIVE Alex will know exactly where it is! Cheers, Mark
-
I'm sure even Soi7 would have a good idea about this one. He's the same guy that buys TWO 1st class seats just so he can "stretch out" on long flights. I don't even need to go on about his trips to gold shops. Cheers, Mark

Emil, I'm going to do my best....you know, THOSE guys are pigs! I've already got the mini-bus booked for our arrival day so we can tour waterfalls, Historic Catholic churches in metro Manila, small cultural show followed by a traditional Filipino dinner and then it'll be bedtime. I just know they'll love it! Cheers, Mark

3 words for you Emil: Kiss My Ass! I'm jealous...have a great trip! Mark

Help me out folks - never been to Pattaya
OnMyWay replied to uktraveller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I've got a confirmation at Eastiny Place for 750 baht. Mark Nookham is the Manager and responds to the emails. When he gives you a quote, just let him know you've stayed before at 750 baht. Cheers, Mark 59 days and wheels up! -
I've booked 2 free trips to BKK and used my FF miles on united. They put me on Thai airlines for those flights and it was great. Last month I flew to Manila, again on FF miles and they put me on Singapore. It was a great airline and the new airbus A340 is superb. No problems booking my free FF trips on United. Just my 2 baht worth, Mark 66 days and wheels up!

Wang Thong Hotel Mae Sai
OnMyWay replied to The_Fat_Controller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I can't speak to that hotel particularly. However, Mae Sai is the border with Laos and it's always BUSY. Many buses doing visa runs and people everywhere selling junk and begging. Many hotels right there and I can't imagine any of them being very good. The reason I feel that way is because most just stay one night for the visa run and they pretty much have no choice if they don't feel like traveling back. The touts will be on you tighter than a 2nd coat of paint. Hope you find an acceptable hotel. Cheers, Mark -
Simple Answer, Eastiny Place. Soi 8 and in the heart of the action for 750 baht a night. Rooms are big, clean and air con will put frost on your nuts. Cheers, Mark

Although this hotel is not CHEAP by any means it's priced right. I think about 1100-1200 baht? I stayed there and the location was good, hotel was VERY nice and service was good. I do have pics of the room and if you PM me with your email address I'll ba happy to forward the pics to you. Here's the hotel info: www.rachaphruk.com admin@rachaphruk.com (044) 261-222 (044) 261-278 Hope that helps, Mark

This hotel appears to be a GREAT deal. But, the two twin beds would not work for me. I'm a bit "large" <cough> and I don't care to sleep alone on one bed! ha Too bad they don't have a few rooms with King beds for those of us that like to bury the wood! Cheers, Mark

Any Updates on Inn House on Soi 13?
OnMyWay replied to kingfisher's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hey Guys, If I read correctly they are charging seperately for water and electricity? Anyone stayed in the standard room and how was it? Cheers, Mark -
I too have stayed at The Grand Inn and it's worthy of a repeat. It's a smaller boutique-type hotel right next to a tailor shop. Don't blink, or you'll miss it. The only downside, it's just like Majestic suites...no place for a taxi, loading or unloading of luggage. MOVE FAST! Room was ok and air con was fine. Guest friendly for sure.... Cheers, Mark

Wolfe, Not sure where you are flying from out of the states. But, Philippine Airlines has a great deal! They fly LA to Manila, allow you stopover and then from Manila to BKK. Most airlines won't allow the stopover and want to charge as though it's two tickets. Give them a shot with your dates and see what happens. I looked at their website, got the airfare and then called them directly. On the phone, the fare was $80 cheaper than the website! Cheers, Mark

Sleepwalker, You must have fell asleep when reading a lot of the comments above! haha You aren't the first and won't be the last that Alex has stiffed for a ride. Cheers, Mark
-
Alex also stiffed myself and Soi 7 one time in BKK. When he didn't arrive we gave him a call and he simply said "oops, forgot..oh well". It's his ATTITUDE about the horrible service and disrespect that killed it for me. I realise everyone has an occasional mistake...but not so much as an apology?? I'll NEVER use him..... Mark

Emil, Soi 7's planning his future maybe?? You know, things like child care/day care could come in use in 8 or 9 months. And besides, money is no issue to Soi 7. After all, this IS the man that buys TWO first class seats on his flight so he has room to "spread out". Cheers, Mark P.S. 16 days and wheels up!
-
I filled up my car with petrol today and would have sure thought I had purchased a ticket to BKK during HIGH SEASON! Cheers, Mark
-
Kevin, I always stay at Eastiny Place. I did a review with pics that you can see here on the baord. Just do a search and take a peek in this hotel section. Have a great trip, Mark
-
BKK-Manila can also be flown for about $188 return on Kuwait Air. But, the flight times are not so desireable. I flew Thai and paid about $300 return but the times worked great for me. Larry, just buy your TG one less baht worth of gold and you can make the trip! Cheers, Mark

I'm in Angeles now and I can recommend the Sunset Garden hotel. Nice pool with 24 hour bar/restaurant and the hotel is CHEAP! 820 Pesos a night is the the weekly rate. 870/night if less than a week. Exchange rate is 56.20 pesos/US $ right now. I don't care for Manila at all. The best part of Manila for me was seeing it out the back window as the taxi headed for Angeles City. Try a couple of websites for basic info: www.balibago.com www.theville.com Hope that helps, Mark

Don't give the Mom 1000 baht for god sakes....she might feel obligated to reciprocate with a short-time for you! Cheers, Mark -
