2 years ago the Pattaya City Hospital was not yet open to patients... ?? It opened - slowly - around mid-2013 and stay more than 1 year in test-mode, with only a few general practitioners and emergency service. I think full opening (with patients allowed to stay during the night) was in second half of 2014.

We don't know exactly. The doctor said it was probably a spider. She didn't see it, didn't fell the sting, but the venom reaction later... She was really in pain; it made me sad; but nothing I could do. That made me really angry against these amateur doctors !

First, Goof report Gozo. Thanks for it. Happy to hear a good report about this Soi Buakhao hospital ... for once... Until now I mainly heard bad reviews about it! - by farangs because of the very high prices they now quote them - by Thais because of the low quality services... The last experience of this hospital is just 2 weeks old: A friend of mine get stung by an insect, and as the day after it's still very painful she goes see a doctor here. (She is registered in Pattaya). She had to came here 4 times I think (4 days) and as that does not heal she decides to g

It's already happening. I have read on a forum about DanceWatcher, a company who rent condos in VT6, sending an email to people who already reserved for an agreed price, asking them to pay more because they now have some VAT to pay...

Right, your wife can't sell the house, but she can decide to sell the company (!) if things turn bad with you. You could finish as a lender of a company you have no relation with, company who owns a house you couldn't use anymore... Be careful...

Automatic Immigration Clearance Machines at Bangkok Airports
Idefix replied to jacko's topic in Expat Issues
Thai Passport owners already have access to similar automatics machine at Bangkok's airports, a few years already I think. I am very curious to know how it will work with stamps ?? To not have an entry or exit stamp could bring you into (temporary) troubles... -
Register your Thai Mobile Number or Lose it !

You don't have to register your phones, but you have to register all your Thai SIM cards... -
Yes Gary, but usually it's not a problem. The register deed, the chanote "โฉนดที่ดิน" is the safer way. It looks like that: and on the back you find the history of owners or people authorised to use this land (usufruct here) : Outside big cities it's very frequent to only have a Nor Sor 3 Gor It looks nearly the same and contains nearly the same information These are the only 2 documents I would trust to buy a land in Thailand, being Thai or Farang does not change anything on it. There are many other types of deed. I don't know them. The frequent one I saw is a

My steps for getting a Thai driver's license
Idefix replied to BeerBelly's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Thanks a lot Gonzo I would add to your list: as usual don't forget to sign all your copies The only tests I made at Pattaya DLC were for the first 1-year temporary DL, 7 years ago. The blindness test was not from a book but from an image on the wall: a big circle filled with small disks: green, orange/yellow and red, but all pale/light colors. Looks like what you got yesterday. The depth perception was not the vertical one you had before but more like the horizontal one you got yesterday. Don't remember how were the commands but remember the examiner just had to lift a lid and -
My steps for getting a Thai driver's license
Idefix replied to BeerBelly's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Thanks Gonzo. I will have to renew my 5-years license in 1 month, so good information for me :) Can you please tell us more about "the colour blindness test has changed" and about "the depth perception test has changed to a more difficult version" ? -
Very often when a couple buy a land, it's done to the wife name, name added at the owners list on the chanote. For many years already, Land Office makes the husband sign an additional document (sometimes the last/4th page of the chanote) where he certifies that: - the money used to buy the land doesn't come from him (of course ) - the buying is made by the married couple As Fondles said above, the husband will then inherit the land if she dies. He will not be able to keep it (land must be Thai owned) but he has a delay to sell it. This delay doesn't seem to be in the law, but people u

That's one way, but not the only one. - you can own your house, built on a leased land - you can own house and land, when buying it with a very long term bank loan (if you can get one!). Its possible because technically this land/house is property of the Thai Bank until you finish to pay it. You can't keep it when finished to pay though, so the idea is to make the loan longer than your life expectancy... - a few other legal ways that I don't know in detail...

Hi. The company-houses are far less illegal than these renewed leases. I remember an article of a lawyer a few years back (in Bangkok Post?) about the dangers of these leases. It was not "lawyer speech" only because he illustrated his article with real cases who turned bad. Even if some legal office says it's "no problem", these "90 years leases" imply to sign blank contracts, to sign documents without date or with dates 30 or 60 years in the future (!) and - the most important - to lie in the registration documents at the Land Office... The only "shock" in this article is that Phuket se

Mandatory registration of SIM cards in Thailand
Idefix replied to DrPat's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi. I registered a Happy (Dtac) SIM yesterday as I was at BigC Xtra. DTAC has an "office" there, upstairs nearly in the middle of the alley. I gave the lady my phone & my Thai Driving License and it took about 3 minutes. My phone received a confirmation SMS with my phone number & passport number. You can make this check by calling *102# (is a Dtac SIM card) As I was there I asked to extend my number validity to 1 year. (Currently was 3 months). Very fast done. It cost 6 baht per 90-days extensions. So it cost me 18 baht all You don't need to have a lot of money in -
Hi. I just come back from Jomtien Immigration where I needed a Re-Entry Permit. Big changes inside ! You can forget everything you know about how this Immigration Office works... When you enter you now see a huge central area full of seating where people are waiting for their turn. All desks and officers are now along the walls all over the place. At the entrance you must now turn on your right toward a new desk where 3 ladies will check you documents. They will check form, copies, signatures,... and will make you fill some form or make new photocopies if need. They will make you

No. Why should it be? Alcohol is lighter than water. Just checked Google: Alcohol density is 0.789 (when water is 1) so 400 ml -> ~316 grams

Hey Gabor, do you know that you are not the only one to have a fish tank and to use these 6L bottles ? I have 2 fish tanks, and I use some "decapitated" 6L bottles to cultivate floating plants on a balcony. I did have slightly a problem like yours. I don't have it anymore since they regularly clean the big roof tank.
-
Hi Gabor. I would think Parkwahn is right here. We had this kind of problem (but not so much) years ago The management now makes the big roof tank cleaned, several times a year, and water now is clear even the bottom of the tank and no odour at all at the top. Other source of dirt/rust were some of the old big distribution tubes, running from the roof to ground floor. They all have been changed last year for PVC one. Now Center Condo tapwater is nearly crystal water . I could drink it I think, but I stick on big bottles for drinking.

Hi. The topic of Greg_B about a drunk farang made me think about this pic I took last week : Don't worry, I didn't drink that, not even a drop , I just "stole" this bottle from the "glass trash can" at my condo, to use as a temporary vase There is a guy on my condo floor who throws away this same Vodka bottle *every day*. He is no more young (70++ ?) and barely quit his room. He must stay alone most of time as I very rarely saw or heard anyone with him. I think he spends most of every night looking TV while drinking (or the reverse) . I noticed that the size of his bottles inc

Because in this condition he is not able to think anymore ? I am very sad seeing some people fully drunk, nearly every day for some of them ! I mainly think about a guy I several times saw falling from the taxi-motorbike when arriving in the condo... and he was already smelling alcohol the few time I saw him in the lift... in the morning!

Hi. Today I entered in my [ 15 days - 7 days ] period before reporting limit date so I decided to try the Online Reporting site of Immigration... just to see 1- On the Notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days page of the Immigration site, there is now a (Work in process) note near the link to the Online Reporting 2- I filled the "Personal Information" form shown above but could not go further. Any "Submit" try, on several browsers, all gave me : I checked on ThaiVisa and no report yet of anyone who manage to report this way. Some "information" that the sys

Why that? You do know what I meant... "nobody else", or "nobody except you". Do you know such people with problems because of non-registration ? -
Mandatory registration of SIM cards in Thailand

I would say "Strange things are happening... to you!" . I know absolutely nobody who got phone problems because of this registration, and I read several times already that no phone-blocking will be made before the registration end period: end of July. I can't help you on your problem though
