300 Baht for Minibus/Bus Pattaya-DonMuang
upena replied to dibidabi's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
why be a tight ass on vacation...spend the 1200 - 2000 baht to get from the airport to pattaya in comfort....why take a van to the bus station and then a baht bus in Pattaya.....the key is getting from the airport to Pattaya in record time and in comfort You are there for a 2 - 3 week vacation where you are going to spend a couple of grand and you guys worry about 20 bucks. -
you will be better off going straight to Pattaya and maybe doing Bangkok your last day before you fly home. Bkk is dirty, too much traffic, girls are not as friendly, more expensive, etc. Granted there is a lot to do in Bangkok but it takes forever to get to whatever it is you want to see.

usually at CI website it is difficult to find fares and other info so far in advance and prices there arent the best. I usually get my ticket 1 - 2 months out and check CI site, travelocity, expedia, orbitz, local travel web sites and local travel agents over the phone to find the best deal.

not sure if Dynasty still offers this but they used to have a deal if your staying in BKK one night and then booked 2 nights in Pattaya they provided free transportation to Pattaya - in a van with about 6 - 8 others. Transport back you had to pay but I never used it as it left at about 1330 back to BKK and I usually leave Pattaya at 0900-1000 to spend some time in BKK. but - up to you havent done this in a while as I usually head straight to Pattaya - but last August my buddy used Dynasty/Dybasty and free ride from BKK

http://www.worldtravelguide.net/country/du...&NAV_SubRegion= according to the world travel guide The following goods may be imported into Thailand without incurring customs duty by any person, irrespective of age: 200 cigarettes or 250g of tobacco or equal weight of cigars; 1l of alcoholic liquor; one still camera with five rolls of film or one movie camera with three rolls of 8mm or 16mm film. I have violated this every time I visit as I bring more than one carton of cigarettes with me. I have NEVER been stopped by customs in over 30 years of visiting. I dont flash my duty free items in the plastic bag - all my goods are in my suitcase and I dress casually - jeans and a T-shirt - nothing fancy and nothing grubby. Grab my bags off the carousel and hand my form to the customs guy and walk on out. A smile and a "Sawasdee Khrap" doesnt hurt either. Returning from Thailand to the US is a different story. I get stopped about 50% of the time. No rhyme or reason in the US....1 year - 4 trips - never got stopped in US. the next year - 3 trips and stopped each time. Last year went 3 times and got stopped once. Asked a bunch of irrelevant questions (where do you work, what do you do), a cursory look at my stuff and then sent on through. I wouldnt worry if you are visiting as long as your stuff is in your bags. There have been some stories on this board about rip-off guys telling visitors in the parking lot that they owe duty - but think these are scams. And some stories from those who live in Thailand getting stopped upon return from their home country, and I think I read one of someone transiting Don Muang airport with hundreds of cartons of cigarettes and getting stopped and fined heavily. The only reason I bring the extra cigarettes is that they dont carry my brand (Kools) in Thailand

I have been going to Thailand for 33 years and have never, ever been stopped at customs...and always, always bring in cigarettes - usually 6 - 10 cartons depending on how long I am staying for - i dont flaunt a duty free bag - they are in my suitcase - and I dont buy any at BKK - they dont have my brand. and the reason I bring them from the states is they dont have my brand in Thailand....most of the time i wind up with a carton or two left over and bring them back home and have had US customs check me...and have told them that I bought them in US and took them to Thailand and brought them back...so far...no problems. I think we need to differentiate between: 1. those coming to Thailand who actually live there - whether Thai or falang 2. those going through Thailand and just doing a layover - carrying oodles of ciggies 3. those coming to Thailand for a vacation - bringing enough for the trip (even though over the 200 cigarettes (one carton) linit) Folks going through here in Hawaii to somewhwhere else in the US get treated differently than those of us who live here (we get scrutinized more)...and by the same token...those that are tourists coming here for a week or two get the quick once over from customs

this story circulates every 6 months or so..wouldnt put much credence in it

New Airport Opening later this year

New Airport -
most airlines will tell you that you cannot book the exit row seat until the day of the flight...and in person...but if you can sweet talk, tell them how tall you are...you should be able to swing it....call the airline directly and talk really, really nice.
