1. I thought he meant one of these things. I'm not sure where you're meant to drive them in Pattaya though - a bit dodgy on the road methinks.
2. Presumably when they put Solar Air out of business.
3. Toom's card ...
4. The folk who've been pumping the money into all these nice hotels and family orientated places might have other ideas.
5. LOL. I can imagine Chivas knocking one out reading that!
6. Is there some form of licensing to lend money? Or, are you unregulated and unlicensed? Apologies for all the questions.
7. What do you want us to call them? The Büttner guy seems a bit handy. Psycho Mk II.
8. I'm glad you pointed that out. So, who are you regulated by, if not the National Bank? That's good to know.
9. Lots of folk refer to the weekly game schedule as rounds. It just means "game week" or "matchday".
10. Have I missed something somewhere along the line?
11. Thanks. Where do I find your company's website (apologies if you've already posted the info)?
12. Any particular reason you have gone from 20%+ down to 15%? And why did you choose not to reply to Grandpollo (Post #62)?
13. 1-2-Go ceased to exist a while back - it operates as Orient Thai nowadays.
14. Look on the bright side - the golfers will be able to claim relief.
15. This should answer a few queries - but no idea of prices or journey times. From the MCOT website ....
16. I think you have to bear in mind how ASEAN is going to affect tourism in the region. If a joint visa is agreed, even amongst a few neighbouring countries, it will open up travel opportunities that were perhaps a bit more difficult to undertake in the past. I had a look at going to Mandalay in November when Thai AirAsia starts the route but finding a hotel was an absolute nightmare - now the building of new hotels will pretty much detract from the attraction of the place. Catch 22.
17. They're not much different from Bangkok Airways. Bangkok generally does Siem Reap at 11k Baht return from BKK, Angkor does Siem Reap from Saigon for 10k Baht. They're not a low-cost airline as such. FWIW, Thai Smile has already announced it will do Phnom Penh as one of its first international routes.
18. It would be even more serious if they had any anything more than a website. I think it's more likely that Cambodia Angkor Air is a more credible candidate/competitor - backed by Vietnam Airlines and the Cambodian government. If nothing else, at least they have little things like aeroplanes (from Vietnam Airways) and crew. Likewise, the benefits of flying to UTP as a primary destination, rather than BKK, aren't immediately obvious. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of code sharing between Angkor and Bangkok Airways on the route at some point. I don't think it's a straightforward as that (ignoring the fact that Thai doesn't fly to Siem Reap). Bangkok Airways is the outfit that has taken the (considerable) risk to invest in the likes of Siem Reap, Luang Prabang, Sukhothai, Samui and Trat when no-one else wanted to know. I think it's only right that they have enjoyed some protection to get a return on their initial investment.
19. Yes - 12 noon until 2.30 pm. This is from this week's Pattaya Mail. A good venue and great value to boot!
20. The buffet is well-recommended by several mates who have eaten there.
21. Neither have I, but I didn't reach the general conclusion that Thais don't like farang food. I've never seen a gaggle of Thais drinking in the Pig and Whistle either; does that mean Thais don't like beer? I'm not disputing your experience, only your conclusion.
22. Next time offer to take her to Krispy Kreme. Seriously, it's a bit of a stretch to say that a TG won't like farang food because none of your dates have fancied a hamburger at the Pattaya Beer Garden (I can empathise with them 100%). There are loads of restaurants the length and breadth of Thailand selling farang food where you'd be hard pushed to spot a farang face.
23. I'm planning a long weekend in BKK for the end of the month and need to stay in the vicinity of the Cultural Centre MRT station (near to Esplanade/BigC Extra/Robinson). I've found the Amanta so far - any other suggestions?
24. MK is a safe choice, but why do you assume she won't be impressed by farang food?
25. Well, not quite. There aren't the same issues with low-cost carriers in general operating in/out of Bangkok. AirAsia, Nok and even Orient Thai are pretty dependable nowadays, as are flights that are actually operated by Tiger Air.
