I watched it in 3D last night. The best part was the trailer for Life of Pi.

ThaiRegional Airline Promotions 1000 bhts
CheshireTom replied to Dr Mick's topic in Airline Discussion
They were due to start Chiang Mai and Phuket flights on 12 December - they never happened and all flights have been cancelled up to 24 December when they may start a limited service. -
No, not that one! The movie. It opens on Thursday in Thailand - I'm looking forward to it.

HK only requires validity to cover your stay - up to a maximum 6 months. I believe the visa/permission to stay situation is that the actual visa can be valid beyond the expiry date of the passport, but the permission to stay, either initial or extension, cannot ... i.e. you can be issued a 1-year multi entry visa on a passport with only six months validity, but your permission to stay will not exceed the validity date of your passport. Of course, the same visa can be used with the new passport.

The aircraft on the LHR-MCT-BKK flights are Airbus A330s According to SeatGuru, the IFE boxes are under seats A and K (window seats).

I think Dr Mick is confused with Thai Smile. I can't see how Thai Regional Air will be allowed to start low-cost ops from BKK when Air Asia, Orient Thai et al have just had their arses moved to Don Mueang. The Hua Hin service is a small commuter thing - scheduling A320s to Chiang Mai, Phuket and Khon Kaen is a completely different ball-game. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out. -
If he has pensions, it's irrelevant that his Thai deposits dropped below 800k as long as his combined income (deposit and pensions) meets the 800k threshold. All he requires is a letter from the Brit Embassy confirming the amount of his pensions (original paperwork needed to confirm the income) and a letter from his bank/copy of passbook entries confirming his balance. IIRC, if you are applying for an extension based on a 'combination of income and funds', there is no minimum seeding period for the "funds" part. Don't quote me though. A quick trip to see the nice guys at immigration would be my first port of call.

Does he not have any regular income from the UK at all?

The seating has nothing to do with the make/model of the aircraft.

Caveat emptor. I remember they were meant to start ops to Hat Yai - it never happened. If you check BKK's real-time departures/arrivals, there's no mention of any of their scheduled flights to the likes of Chiang Mai and Phuket. -
The parts are for a PCX - I need something to carry my lifejacket in.

Yes - and they take your TM.6, and collect any "fees" due.

Pattaya Beach today covered in rubbish

I think it's a regular occurrence around this time of the year - after storms have impacted on the Gulf of Thailand. -

I think that 3-4-3 in Y on the 777s disqualifies an airline from attaining a 5-Star ranking on Skytrax - quite rightly so IMHO.

I think you had to supply a 50 kg rice bag and half a dozen PET bottles and string them together to make your own Blue Peter version. From the pics, there didn't seem to be much snorkelling or fishing going on. -

It's called Koh Krok - belongs to the Sabai Group. You used to be able to do day trips through the Sabai Inn/Lodge - not sure if that's still possible. -
BXPs = Border Crossing Points. I don't know the locations of providers in Pattaya - it must be available because I am given the option of 1st Class Insurance when I rent down here. I'll have an ask around next week though and see if I can get a contact number/e-mail/website ...

Giving them to the maid? You could have exchanged them for a Hello Kitty lunch box! Seriously, they are worth 1 or 3 Bahts (silver and gold respectively) and can be exchanged for promotional gifts or goods. They are really aimed at the kids - hence the cartoon themes - and getting them into the 7-11 habit. What they are not for ...

TRAVEL TO DON MUANG - NOT USING TAXI
CheshireTom replied to biggles's topic in Transport in Thailand
According to Bell's site, you have to take a van from BKK to DMK - which is what, I believe, the OP was trying to avoid. -

CheshireTom replied to Dr Mick's topic in Expat Issues
That's true, Mick. On the flip side of the coin, if you have been insured for several years, the insurance company will probably have built up a fairly good list of pre-existing conditions to pretty much limit your coverage in the future. -
If he can get short-term 1st-Class insurance (or even 2nd Class (3rd Party Fire and Theft)) (it's certainly available at BXPs) he will be covered except for repatriation. Of course, an amulet, a couple of pieces of mangy string wrapped around your wrist or a dodgy tattoo works just as well - or so I'm told.
