  1. The main thing that I find about those who get so high and mighty about the term "LDOP" invariably feel quite at ease bandying about the "Cheap Charlie" description/synonym in their posts.
  2. Edit: removed as another BM posted same post simultaneously elsewhere.
  3. United have the "normally debilitating" trip to Russia midweek prior to the derby, City are home. Just getting the excuses in early
  4. Extremely close match yesterday but you always thought that the Aussies would just scrape through. Very lucky though, and they played really poorly; and that is not disrespecting the Scot's game, which I along with most of the English contingent, were supporting. Both myself and the Australian I was sitting next to thought we saw an Australian "knock on" just prior to the unfortunate, but correct final penalty decision. Also Maitland's banishment to the bin for deliberate knock on was extremely harsh. Decent referees ask for those sort of situations to be shown in "real time" after the slow mo
  5. Pulis v Fat Sam this weekend. 0-0 would probably be a fair bet for that one at about 8/1 ! Provided he manages to instill the slightest bit of fortitude into the the Sunderland defence in his short time there.
  6. Thai Thanksgiving day is any day the "missus" finds my unguarded wallet. !!!
  7. Edit ...Oops answered the wrong postFor Mutiny on the Bounty Richard Harris
  8. Gawd ! Now we are really showing age !The Wild Bunch
  9. I managed to exchange my tickets for Ireland v France for tickets at Kingsholm for the USA v Japan match (due to constant pleading from "missus", who thinks the Japanese fullback is a very very "sexy man", but probably a "big butterfly" ) Surprisingly difficult, but a Gloucester committee acquaintance came good A good decision though; Even though the match had far less significance, it was one of the best matches to watch, that I have seen: Certainly better than the previous nights' England walkover at the "wrong" Manchester stadium! The crowd, especially the Japanese contingent, were excell
  10. Top end; Bruno's have done them in the past.
  11. That is quite expensive for the lounge pass. Normally they are about 200 AED which is about £35 or 2000 Baht, but are for 5 hour max (the missus had one a while back), so I suppose your higher quote would probably cover the 8 hours. An added bonus if your onward flight is on an A380, is that you board directly from the lounge. £60 is quite a chunk though, if flying on an economy fare, and the airport has many lay flat loungers, and reasonable seats should you not mind the noise. There are also some "Japanese style" pod " coffins" or capsules around, but I am not sure of their cost. 8 hours is
  12. Ahhh the iconic shot ! Jack Lord
  13. Apparently it was/is being shot on location in Hungary. Make of that what you will !
  14. Whilst in the UK at the moment I have noticed them advertising an historical drama series called "The Last Kingdom" which is a TV adaptation of Cornwell's Saxon Tales. The series starts on BBC2 on 22nd October, and started 10th October on BBC America. Don't know if you have access to either of those channels via your "minix thingummyjig", or whether you are interested in "novel depictions for the lazy of mind"! I am, and hopefully my normal access to BBC Iplayer is not compromised in UAE when I get back.
  15. If you are travelling Biz or 1st for sure; Or if you have the right tier frequent flier membership (Skywards Silver) that allows you entry into the lounge. The lounges in the A380 terminal are enormous (Each one seems bigger than the whole of Edinburgh airport terminal !) They are obliged to offer you free refreshments if there is a certain unscheduled delay (2-3 hours) from an EU airport, but not sure on the rules outside of the EU. I have heard rumours of a free voucher for the delights of a McDonalds or slice of pizza for scheduled waits in excess of 4 hours, but it involved going to a ver
  16. Capons would be a fair substitute. Do they still have such creatures in these days of water pumped, steroid induced, genetically modified chickens though?
  17. You ostentatious snob. Flashing out all those 5p !
  18. UK ones could be disguised horsemeat, so they should be OK Boootiful !
  19. An improvement with regards to PR could be made with relative ease and not to much expense (I don't necessarily think they will manage it to any "noticeable" extent though). They all say they will but..... Jeez, even Ryan Air, a notorious UK budget airline, with a truly appalling attitude to its customers perpetuated by an equally obscene CEO is trying to "clean up its act" in that way and failing. The problems with United are more than skin (or thick-skinned) deep though, and the whole product needs a major overhaul, including cabin furniture. Costs for them to catch up after years of neglect
  20. Yes those 10 across seat configurations are pretty much universally condemned. They originally put them on the Asian routes, but have now spread them to all routes.
  21. Posts are hanging for me, but edits go straight through.
