  1. Has there ever been a better band than Pink Floyd? In doubt it. They sadly remind me of my surfing days in Ulu Watu, Bali. Up at six in the morning for the short motor bike ride to Ulu Watu, just before Nusa Dua. You had to be early to get in line with the aggressive Aussie surfers. Ulu Watu would have consistent but at times scary right handers. I lost count of the many leg ropes I broke. You would swim back to the beach a couple of times for a bit of Nasi Goreng and water to stop you from getting dehydrated. After a month surfing, having lost 10 kilos was considered normal. In the evening I usd to ride back om my rented bike back to the losmen in Kuta, for a massage, a joint and one beer and a little food. Then went to sleep listening to Pink Floyd or the Moody Blues ready to face face the next day of surfing. Alternatively I surfed at Jomtien Beach, close to Kuta, when the surf looked all right. I had the same Balinese GF for mote than 10 years. We thought about getting married for a long time, but I was then talked into visiting Thailand, which changed everything. I feel ashamed and sorry, leaving Wayan Yanto for not telling her that I was not coming back to her. She was a great girl, wokingg in her little shop on Kuta Beach Rod, making and selling Batik items.
  2. Great to put faces to a great band.
  3. At least Roland was is a is a great poster, unless some of the rubbish some of the contributors on this board are dishing out these days. I hope he is well.

  5. Not trying to insult, but you Kiwis are famous for your love of sheep.
  6. I wonder how many of the blokes on this list where born when the Platters were at their prime. Their music is timeless nevertheless and a hard act to copy.
  7. Ah, the good old days.
  8. Better looking than your average bar girl and a good singer as well.
  9. I had a few Brit backpacker sheilas staying at my place in Darwin over the years and they were all great girls and a lot of fun. I only charged them for electric and shared food. That was appreciated, as rent in Darwin and most of Australia can be quite high, even in backpacker hostels. There was not much sex involved, as I was shacked up with my own jealous missus. I split with her a few years ago and have since been living with a Thai lady for the last few years, most of the time here in Thailand. We only returned from Oz a few weeks ago after an extended holiday to show her the country where I have lived and worked for most of my life. At present I have another Pom staying at my place in Darwin. She is my sister in law from Folkstone in Kent near Dover. She will have to return to her job in Europe soon and she will leave one of her good friends in charge of my place. There is nothing wrong with English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish people. You just have to be a good judge of people before you invite them into your house, to avoid the few rotten apples. Like someone said previously, there are good and bad, no matter where they come from. Cheers
  10. Some of the very best musicians of the modern era, in my opinion.
  11. Old Kev has always made great contributions to Australian culture. Some people might disagree.
  12. You are not wrong about the backpacker sheilas. They know how to earn a quid by working hard as fruit pickers, can drink a lot of beer and are horny as well. A lot of them never make it back to mother England and decide to stay in Oz for good. They are an asset to our country. Most of the Brit backpacker blokes are alright as well.
  13. I just returned from Oz last Tuesday with my Thai missus. Watching the Cats win their third premiership in the the last five years was impressive. The missus loves footie more than I do despite me having played the bloody game at a much lower level than AFL. By the way, I have always been a lifelong supporter of Collingwood, but the consistent Cats just made fools of us in the last quarter.
