If you're that desperate, this place is closer! http://www.pattayasheepfarm.com/?lang=en

Apologies. For some strange reason I thought the discussion was about EVA!

On the LHR / BKK route, some are 3-3-3 and some 3-4-3. If you want to know which before you book, you need to 'phone them.

It neither speeded up nor slowed down my processing. However, I saw one IO have to leave his seat to assist an elderly Chinese-looking guy with it. Just need a few of those and it will slow down things.

The talks today failed. Strike still on. https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3736942

Yes, BR67 and 68 are not listed amongst the cancellations they have published from today to 12 July. I wonder if they are going to spread the pain and include them in the next lot of cancellations.

Ditto me. Oh!! That's a shame. I hope that fate does not befall the LHR/BKK route.

Yes, you've hit the nail on the head. I'm not looking forward to what I think I'm going to have to deal with.

The food court at the Second Road end of the basement of Central Festival mall will be closing today. It is moving / has moved to the Beach Road end, next to Micky D's. I suspect shortly a larger area will be open than is currently the case. -
It's gone tits up! https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3734979 Breaking News: Taiwan’s EVA Air to continue strike as talks break down The management refused to withdraw punitive measures against flight attendants taking part in the strike By Huang Tzu-ti, Taiwan News, Staff Writer 2019/06/29 22:16 TAIPEI (Taiwan News) –Flight attendants at EVA Air have decided to continue their strike following failed negotiations with the company’s management that lasted for three hours on Saturday (June 29). Earlier in the day, members of the labor union had voted to accept a compromise deal, bringing hopes that the 10-day strike could end as soon as the two sides ink an agreement later. The negotiations broke down over a number of sticking points, including refusal by the management to withdraw punitive measures against employees taking part in the strike. The next round of negotiations will take place on July 2, according to the union. The "ambush strike" that started on June 20 has led to approximately 2,000 flight cancellations and losses estimated to be NT$1.8 billion, affecting hundreds of thousands of passengers, EVA Air said in a news release.

Strike probably called off but problems for a few more weeks: https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3734838 The complete resumption of normal services following the vote by flight attendants Saturday (June 29) to end their 10-day strike might take until the end of July, EVA Air reportedly said. Since June 20, about 1,000 flights were canceled, affecting an estimated 200,000 passengers, with public opinion divided between supporters of the employees’ cause and critics who blamed the union for disrupting travel plans. After 14 hours of voting Friday and Saturday, the Taoyuan Flight Attendants Union announced the majority had agreed to end the strike, but only after the accord was signed by both sides, which was expected to happen later Saturday. EVA Air said that due to general scheduling procedures, restoring a completely regular schedule would take some time, but it might be completed by the end of July at the latest, the Liberty Times reported. The new pact reportedly included more money, regular talks between the union and management, the right to sleep over on some flights to Beijing and Tokyo, and a promise to abstain from retaliatory measures against the strikers, according to the Liberty Times. The fate of legal action by EVA Air including demands for compensation against the union still had to be decided, the reports said.

Potentially good news: https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3734292 Breaking News: Flight attendants’ strike at Taiwan’s EVA Air on verge of ending Union members will vote from Friday night until Saturday June 29 noon TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A meeting between representatives of the Taoyuan Flight Attendants Union and EVA Air Chairman Steve Lin (林寶水) Friday (June 28) afternoon might result in the signing of an agreement and the end of the strike on its 10th day Saturday (June 29), according to the Ministry of Labor. More than 2,000 flight attendants at the private carrier walked out on June 20 to underline their demands regarding overtime and long working hours. Supporters said difficult workingconditions were sufficient reason for the industrial action, while critics lambasted the airline staff for disrupting the travel plans of thousands of people. About 1,000 flights have been canceled since the beginning of the strike, affecting an estimated 200,000 passengers, the Central News Agency reported. Following Friday afternoon’s meeting, reports indicated that both sides in the dispute might sign an agreement to end the strike around Saturday noon at the earliest. The breakthrough followed apparent concessions proposed by the union, including dialing down demands for a higher overseas daily allowance, the appointment of a labor representative on the company board, and benefits restricted to union members. During Friday’s meeting, Lin reportedly showed goodwill on issues not directly included in the union’s eight core demands, thus laying the basis for an improved relationship, CNA reported. The results of the meeting will be submitted to a union vote beginning at 10 p.m. Friday and likely to end by noon Saturday. If the members agree to the new package, the strike will be likely to end Saturday.

I'm beginning to get a bit worried now; I'm wondering if EVA has in mind to do to the cabin crew what Reagan did to the air traffic controllers in 1981.
-
I am reminded on the EVA app I have on my phone that if I booked through a travel agent, it is the travel agent I need to contact, not EVA, in the event of a problem.

All very well getting a refund but how will you get a replacement ticket at the same price?

I've read that the Americans think the opposite, and have complained that the Baht is being artificially held down. -
That's surprising. Who made up for the Chinese? Maybe the Indians?

I arrived at Swampy at about 3.40 pm yesterday. There was a man holding a board with my name on it at the end of the gangway. He took me to the Fast Track Immigration counters. I didn't have to queue. The fingerprinting was easy and quick - but the instructions were in English, so I'm not sure everyone will regard them as straightforward. I didn't have hold luggage, so I'm not sure if the guy would have stayed to make sure such luggage arrived. As I might have guessed, I gained very little by paying for this service: neither of the regular Immigration areas was particularly busy.

Where to stay for a 4-week trip?

Are you sure about that Teelack? From memory, at the top of Soi 2 is Siam@Siam hotel on one side, and a soapy massage place on the other.
