  1. RHT has become a really excellent place to eat. I hope nothing happens to change that. I'm currently there eating this, and very tasty it is too ?:
  2. Not sure I'd describe it quite as a "government decision". The UK has a social security agreement with PI which provides for it (like most other SS agreements that the UK has entered into). Unfortunately, there's no SS agreement between the UK and Thailand.
  3. All the information you need can be found here: https://www.pattayacityexpatsclub.com/expats/docs/ExtendingStay.pdf
  4. I usually have my main meal of the day in the evening but, yesterday, I'd had a bite to eat in the afternoon, so was looking for just something light in the evening. I was walking through The Avenue and noticed a blackboard from The Robin Hood Tavern, and thought the Lite Bite Special might be what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the menus I was given did not include the food on the blackboard - a point management needs to address. However, the waitress knew what I was talking about, and the order was duly placed. The food arrived in a reasonable time, and was delicious.
  5. That's a massive "if"! (I assume you mean get an overall majority, not just the most seats.)
  6. If it's there, it's not posted on the relevant thread.
  7. Do you mean as a developer or as a private buyer? Ever more blocks of condos go up, so I have to assume that there is still money in developing. About 10 years ago, I was told that a condo developer had to sell only about 50% of the units to break even. As to being a private buyer, I'd say that, generally, the answer is "no". However, there are quite a few fire sales at the moment, and you might be able to pick up a bargain and resell it in a few years time.
  8. So what do we do to prepare for a dry season water shortage? I assume/hope it will not affect bottled water. Can anyone confirm that?

  10. I took a Baht bus from Pattaya to Jomtien this afternoon. Usually, the bus goes along Jomtien Beach Road until it gets to Soi Chaiyaphruek, and then I get thrown off. Today, the bus just kept going towards Na Jomtien. I stopped it at Lumpini Park Beach - about 3/5ths of a mile past Soi Chaiyaphruek, but it felt much further. The road is single lane each way at that point. I walked back along Beach Road until the road takes a sharp right to Pattaya - about 2.5 miles, I think. The walk along Jomtien Beach is very familiar to me, and nothing much has changed except I was ver
  11. I believe it was some sort of awards ceremony which took place in the evening.
  12. I think we have to differentiate between hotels which: 1. Won't allow a joiner at all 2. Will allow one joiner for an extra charge 3. Will allow one joiner free, but charge for a second 4. Will allow one joiner free, but won't allow more 5. etc.
  13. There was some sort of event at Central Festival Mall, Pattaya, this afternoon. With the absence of all but Thai signs, I have no idea what it was all about! If you can read Thai, it would be great if you could tell us: With the TV (and/or film) cameras there, I'm guessing it was something a bit more than the usual food festival! There were a lot of Thais dressed in traditional costume. My guess is that it was some sort of awards ceremony for the great and the good hisos.
  14. And these were the rates at TT on Soi Buakhao at 22:14
  15. Money Exchange on Soi Diana usually has rates very similar to TT. This is what they were showing at 20:44 today:
  16. People who take up the width of a pavement/sidewalk or escalator, thus stopping me get by.
