  1. I'd agree with that. Lot more relaxing than the food court in the basement.
  2. I had 4 more pictures to upload but am being told they are too large. THEY AREN'T!! I've reduced their size, just as I did with the 4 above.
  3. I think those comments reflect how badly publicised The Food Loft has been. With proper publicity, I think it would not be closing. Here are a few more pictures:
  4. Until this afternoon, I wasn't sure what they were doing at the front of Areca Lodge (on Soi Diana). This is what it looks like at the moment: You will see that the area to the front, and the bar on the right side, have been demolished. This artist's image is posted on the hoarding outside of how it will look: This seems to indicate that the place is getting a facelift, a water feature at the front, and a bit of an extension on the right side. Here you can see the work being done on the right side:
  5. Yes, it is like that, except you don't "buy" the card: they give it to you. I'm very surprised you found the place packed. The busiest I have ever seen it was about 20% full.
  6. 3rd Floor, next to Power Buy, overlooking the sea.
  7. I went there yesterday and was told it would be closing at the end of the month. I'm a little bit sad but not at all surprised. It is in a prime location and has very few customers, even in high season.
  8. Not a good idea for the neighbours, though!
  9. A while ago, I read that people ought to be careful about using the fish massages. Apparently, the fish can pass infection from one person to another.
  10. Yes, in both the basement supermarket in Central and in Villa Market at The Avenue.
  11. That looks to be another place that cannot fry eggs properly!
  12. I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago and had to play around with browsers until I found one which worked.
  13. That's interesting. Thanks. It would appear that many of the ground staff working at Heathrow aren't aware of the exact position.
  14. I had a curry in Secrets a few months ago and was impressed. Definitely English style.
  15. So I have read. But it is difficult to believe from what I see in the gogos.
  16. Yes, I am glad too as my condo development also suffers from the AirBnB stayers, but am not holding my breath for it to be implemented. My instinct tells me that there won't be much change, but I could add a couple of other reasons as to why there might be. Firstly, the AirBnB landlords are usually not filing TM30 forms, so there is a large group of tourists not trackable. Secondly, there is a tax loss to the country as most of (probably all) the landlords aren't reporting the income for tax purposes. If those same people stayed in hotels, the income would be recorded (at least, theoretically) and tax paid on it.
  17. Current name is Travelodge. I have no personal experience of it but have read only good reviews. Like so many other places nowadays, Indian and goblin tour groups seem to use it.
  18. Indeed. I even asked if it was OK before I took my drink upstairs.
  19. Thanks. ? Flightstats isn't quite right, though, as we didn't start taxi-ing until 00:23. There was suspense to the end. In the departure gate area, about a dozen young loutish Brits were behaving badly and were rat-arsed. They were taken aside and spoken to and had to board ahead of everyone else. My guess is that they would have not been allowed to fly had it not been for the irreparable delay unloading their luggage would have caused. They were still causing trouble by keep standing up as we were coming into land. More quality tourists for Thailand! ?
  20. ^^^ The latest news is that the flight is delayed to 23:55. I asked about the curfew time and was told that it is 23:59!!!!
  21. I'm sat at LHR waiting for BR68 which has been delayed at least 2 hours, so it is questionable whether it will go out today. It's interesting to see what happened to the inbound BR67 flight. It seems to have started the day at U-Tapao and then flown on to Swampy.
  22. Good to know you had a good rehearsal for the main event next month. ? A few weeks ago, the drinks upstairs in Doll House were 5 Baht more than downstairs. Thanks, Frosty, for the comments. None came as much of a surprise except for the ones about Windmill and Doll House, which were my joint favourite places back in February/March.
  23. Some people would regard that as an oxymoron!
  24. Just read the bar crawl thread and it made me wonder if, perhaps, you could charge a small amount (say, 100 Baht) to attendees? Alternatively, if we don't ask for two-for-one beers in the gogos, maybe the gogos managers would be willing to pay you a kick-back for bringing people to their places?
