  1. According to the latest National Thailand University study , there was 3570 thai laksa stalls as compared to 43748 'others' laksa stalls in thailand. The studies was done in thai so I have no way of verifying this. B.S.pedia has in on its website that most thai laksa stalls are actually mutations of the real coconut version so I guess 100% of laksa stalls are a part of the original coconut version.
  2. No it is not that common and I haven't seen the stats too....
  3. There are several versions so there is no definate answer unless rightsaid confirms what he had in Australia. rightsaid - Just dug this (http://onlinestore.prima.com.sg/onlinestore/onlinestore.asp) up so maybe they deliver
  4. There are a few versions ; Singaporean , Indonesian and Malaysian ; all different in taste. For example the Penang version is the sour type while the singaporean is the one with coconut in the soup. Haven't seen on in Thailand ; I can send you the 'just add water' paste/powder. PM me your TQ2 address and I'll see if the thai postal allows it thru! Or you'll have to wait till Songkran.
  5. You may be thinking of Denmark. Many of the ladies employed or bought the franchise now have their own booths ; like the nice lady that used to operate the Denmark booth next to Ice Inn. She's now just across the street at Soi 10 running a burger booth called Happy Hamburger.
  6. that ice cream stuff is dangerous! Its advertised as low fat so I went on a a low fat diet based on the stuff and still managed to gain weight!
  7. Damn you made me hungry now ....... sticky rice with a skewer of chicken , one pork and some intestines and chicken feet! The girls like the rice BBQed and crispy but I prefer the rice soft. Top that up with a yougut and watermelon and a small bottle of water with StarWars Ep3 on cable tv!
  8. I'm surprised no one mentioned Black Canyon. Similar to Starbucks and Coffee Bean but the winner here is the traditional kopi "http://www.blackcanyoncoffee.com/ Kopi Ancient Coffee The Chinese ancestors brought their love of sweet coffee to Thailand. Traditional Chinese coffee is always served with milk and sugar. The right mix of coffee, condensed milk and sugar make this ageless ancient coffee drink an all time favorite for everyone in the family." Ohhhhhhh ...... and the carts outside Central before the shopping centre opens its door! The guys make a mean Nescafe!
  9. Correct me if I am wrong. You can push your bike thru Walking Street after its been closed but just cant ride it.
  10. Really? Excuse the pun but think again long and hard! Imagine the drama of bringing another girl back to the room after the novelty of the Soi 6 bar has worn out.
  11. I stayed there during Loy Krathong and they have made some improvements. The TVs have been upgraded as well as their aircons. No longer the noisy antiques they had! The plumbing is also better ; no longer multiple flushes! Still great value in a great location for a very average hotel
  12. Not sure if i undertsand the problem as I've not seen it. Usually its becoz the nut does not have a stopper (at the underside end of the sink) so it's free to move around. You could try two nuts (the 'nut and bolt' type ; not the drunk type!) oe even three to try stop it moving. Squeezing some glue in before screwing in the nut may also work. Give it a try ; costs next to nothing except my consultation fee in beers! An intro to your next lucky draw winner would also do! Wow ; I bet the maintainence contract would cost more than the fans itself!
  13. great food and location. Only problem is the heat and when there's no wind , its like a suana there. How about getting one of those giant fans and switch them on during the wind-less days?
  14. Diana Inn doesnt have a lift and you'll regret it if you come back one nite all drunk and have to climb to the top floor!
  15. Thai would rather you give them a chance to win the whole fishing fleet than a few fishes that will last a few days.
  16. Great news as my flight is usually on friday evenings..........
  17. You sound like the guys on Pattaya TV after the report where they repeat the address for customers!
  18. Junction of Soi Baukow and Soi Lengkee. Always burgers , chinese pork porridge , kebabs around
  19. > > A guest at a Novotel in Australia complained his soup was too thick > > and strong. He was inadvertently slurping the gravy at the time. 5555555 i played this trick at pattaya during songkran! I ordered a whole fish and it was so good , it was all bones by the time I finished with it. I then sent it back telling the kitchen it was terrible! They couldn't stop laughing!
  20. Picked this off another forum When I was 14, I hoped that one day I would have a girlfriend. When I was 16 I got a girlfriend, but there was no passion, so I decided I needed a passionate girl with a zest for life. In college I dated a passionate girl, but she was too emotional. Everything was an emergency; she was a drama queen, cried all the time and threatened suicide. So I decided I needed a girl with stability. When I was 25 I found a very stable girl but she was boring. She was totally predictable and never got excited about anything. Life became so dull that I decided that I needed a girl with some excitement. When I was 28 I found an exciting girl, but I couldn't keep up with her. She rushed from one thing to another, never settling on anything. She did mad impetuous things and made me miserable as often as happy. She was great fun initially and very energetic, but directionless. So I decided to find a girl with some real ambition. When I turned 31, I found a smart ambitious girl with her feet planted firmly on the ground and married her. She was so ambitious that she divorced me and took everything I owned. I am now older and wiser, and am looking for a girl with big tits.
  21. I thought it was the scottish?
  22. Ya , times are changing and your views are not in line with the times. In fact many falangs are heading east to do what asians did many years ago. You're actually talking about your next 2 generations.
  23. Are your prices per car/van/person etc? How many per car or van etc. Details please
  24. Money talks! Over the period of 10 days during songkran , we noticed business was generally down and we (half chinese half indian group) were not stopped in any bars except , Hooty's (which we got in the nite before!) Even What's Up didnt bat an eyelid to stop us. As mentioned , business in down and one can see in clubs usually packed , there's a lot of elbow space nowadays.
