  1. Not that it saves any money but a heads up on a new airline to BKK from PHX. I just booked with Air Canada. Shocks me too. Not super cheap at $5700 rt PHX-BKK. BUT, the best part is it is one stop. PHX-YVR-BKK (YVR is Vancouver). And it's on new 787-9 aircraft with 1-2-1 seating pods which spec out pretty nice. Only negative for you is unlike Etihad at that price it costs to cancel. Not sure how much but it isn't free.
  2. Yeah and I apply it in this country. I look at flights out of LAX, SFO, SEA, ORD etc. I originate in PHX and book a separate ticket when I finalize my long haul flight. If it's LAX I don't even get the return flight from LAX-PHX right away cause Southwest air is so cheap I can wait til the last minute if I change my travel.
  3. I have never used Google flights. That looks intriguing. Thanks.
  4. Hi Guys, We all know flying isn't getting cheaper. I am trying to figure out the best and cheapest way to fly from Phoenix AZ to BKK in biz class. BIZ class means all access to the aisle and lay flat seats. BTW I don't need BiZ from PHX to say LAX or SFO etc. My previous travel was typically PHX-LAX on a seperate ticket than one of the Asian airlines via one stop to BKK. In the past I was usually able to get these LAX-BKK flights for around $4000 and keep any layovers to 2-4 hours. Right now it looks like my best bets are ANA or Asiana for more like $4600 RT. Anyone knows a beter way to travel from here I'm all ears. BTW I am looking at early January for travel return mid March.
  5. I love animals. Dogs, cats, wonderful companions to man. But sadly these wild strays are a threat and something should be done to reduce their numbers. So I'm not offended by your statement. Now when it comes to the monkeys on the Bangpra golf course I would volunteer to cull them. Give me a suppressed scoped rifle and the golfers won't even notice I'm at work. I hate those things. And they are dangerous.
  6. 109 here today. Wish I had one. ?
  7. I ate there a few times in February/March and thought the service and food was as before covid. Good food. Good service. Comfort food. No idea who owns or runs it but they have a better clue how to run a restaurant than I ever will.
  8. You have to look up. And down. And up. You never know where an obstacle will come from when walking the sidewalks there.
  9. I hear you. Yes, if you wish to bop around Pattaya there is no easier way to get places and park. But I disagree that the level of danger other than trips and junctions is that much less. Less yes but it takes little to have a serious injury on a bike even at low speeds and you don't even need to be drunk or do anything wrong. There are idiots on the roads in town that will ruin your year or life slamming into you at 30 MPH for no reason than they just don't care to watch out. I have friends with bikes and I understand them. To me the risk is too high. To quote an erudite scholar that once opined on Game of Thrones, I wish to die at 80 with a belly full of wine and a womans lips round my cock. ?
  10. Have to say with the current cost and service of Bolt riding a bike has become silly. You can get a car to pick you up and take you anywhere in Pattaya for less than 100 baht. Why take a motorcycle and risk a simple trip being your last one?
  11. Well, except for Gina Gerson. I mean there are limits to my sacrifice.
  12. As an additional point walking in Pattaya isn't always safe. I see people walk with their back to traffic 2 abreast and the road isn't wide enough for traffic of two cars arrive at the same spot at the same time. Or some idiot bike overtakes and forces the car to it's limit. Soi Buacao is a prime example of this. I always walk facing the traffic on my side single file and ready to bail if something looks iffy. And yes I know guys who have been nicked by passing cars. Really getting around in Thailand, by car, bike or walking, is the worst part of Pattaya. Other than that I have zero complaints. I like the food, hotels, people, everything. Just got to be careful when moving about.
  13. I love the scream. And hey, if you are kicking someones ass why put your self within chomping distance. Did she think the other girl was going to fight fair?
  14. Not sure why the webpage is still open. Dale might still be organizing some golf trips using it.
  15. Golf Club was my watering hole and I was friends with the owners and Steve. After Steve died I believe there was only one owner left with 100% ownership. The remaining owner was not interested in running the place and sold. I wasn't there so second hand info. New owners apparently kept most of the staff prior to covid. I have no idea now how the place is doing now. I will miss the camaraderie of the place.
  16. We should also remember - the airframe is not the deciding factor regarding seat comfort. Airlines kit out the interior of jets as they wish, and they could put great seats into the 787 if they wished. The thing to compare is: Airframe - smoothness of flight. Air quality. Noise levels. 380 is awesome and rumor is so is the 787. Airline seat - width, pitch, access to the aisle. etc. For me first it's the seating. I want direct aisle access and no one crawling over me and a lie flat seat. After that the airframe comes into it.
  17. Nice. Love the 380. I am flying QATAR US-Doha-BKK in January and pretty sure I'm on A330. Also a fine jet and in business with a pod so I don't have to wear a mask the whole way. but a 380 would be better. Flew them twice and smooth and quiet. Love them.
  18. I did point out the convenience of them. And it isn't as if I tell anyone else how to live their life. The question was asked and I am sharing my opinion which is they are very dangerous to ride in Pattaya. I hope you would agree a minor accident on a motorbike is much more likely to get you injured than riding in the back of a baht bus despite being a passive form of travel?
  19. IMO if you live in a location not served well by baht bus loops or mototaxis it's hard not to own one. Like sailingbill living on Wongamot beach. Tough to get there without. And I guess if I lived there full time I'd have one. But I am really set against it unless you absolutely need one. There is no question in my mind every person posting here with a bike has either been down or will go down. Usually it's not too bad and they live. The question you have to ask yourself it "am I willing to accept the pain that will come when some idiot on a car swerves into me and I get a broken leg and both arms"? And it really doesn't matter if you are a skilled rider. Maybe, if you are under 40 with good reflexes and skills you can avoid most encounters and will bounce back quick from any injuries that you can't avoid. Ah well it's just me. I am anti-bike push or motor. The traffic in Pattaya is a meat grinder. And I prefer to remain unground. ?
  20. He was famous. Dead now. I guess his style isn't for everyone.
  21. Sorry. I got the mistaken impression you were a newby to Thailand. Sounds like you already got that part figured out. ? I was so lucky with the maid I had. I hired her to clean my condo on a demand basis. She asked what the building charged me to clean and I told her 400 baht. So she wanted 400 baht to clean a 1br condo with 3 sliding glass doors and small balconies etc. Man what a bargain, She would come when I called and clean until I threw her out. I mean the windows, Jacuzzi, take all the dishes out of the cabinets wash them, wipe down the cabinet interiors and replace the dishes. I mean literally work well past 4 hours at which point I wanted to go out. I trusted her so much I would let her in and just leave her pay and go out. She could drop the key at the front desk. And since she was a pals girlfriend never an offer of hanky panky. The perfect maid. I finally felt guilty and just upped her pay to 500 baht. She tried to give me change but I told her it was a raise. ALl was good. Then the bastard boyfriend went back to Ireland and took her with him. I never did find another maid that good. Ah well. Things always change, ?
  22. Welcome aboard Brad. Finding a maid will be easy. My only advice is - if you like the job she is doing as a maid KEEP her as a maid. It is a lot easier to find companionship in Pattaya than it is to find a good maid. ?
  23. I have no brand loyalty but I admit which jet they fly matters to me. But it only applies to international travel for me since I rarely fly domestically any longer. I kind of have a preference for what jet I fly and it all other things are equal will take a 380 over anything else. Smoother, quieter and better air than the 777 or 350 in my experience. I am also curious about the 787 which I have not flown. It too is supposed to be quieter and smoother and better air. But so far all the 787s on routes I might fly have opted for poor seating in the biz class section. JAL seats appear on the small side. After those it is a crap shoot. 777 or 350 it's all the same to me. January I'll be in a Qatar 350-1000 in Qsuite for the first time. I hear it is nice and since you can close off from everyone else masks are not required once airborne if you raise the barriers for privacy.
  24. Yeah I got it. Peoples attitudes suck. I just expanded on your post my opinion of masks. I don't know what the rules are. I haven't flown since Covid started. I probably will take a short hop in December to visit family in Utah on a small carrier called Allegient from really small airports. But I assume the rules are the same so I'll have a mask if that's the rules. Just looked it up. Yup. It's the rules. Lucky me short flight like an hour.
