Woke up this morning to some sad news. Don Adams has gone to the great Cone of Silence in the sky. Hard to be too morose, just keep remembering those great one-liners from Get Smart. And his other series, The Partners. The first episode had a great sight gag involving a fake house front. I remember going to see the movie. The whole theatre chorused "Missed it by that much" at the appropriate moment. Edit in: Its just been pointed out to me that he was 82 when he died. Didn't make it to 86. Missed it by that much. (Always leave 'em laughing when you go.)

Thought it might be appropriate to re-start this thead at this time. I've just booked my flights for November, now I'm thinking hotels. What do the guys who've done it think: should I stay in Pattaya with tilac or take her to Bangkok or somewhere else? (Only in town for one week, so don't want to lose too much time travelling. ) Thanx in advance.

FWIW I took some DVDs and VCDs with me last time. Mostly bootlegs imported from Hong Kong. Just to show the girls what was expected of them. I can play them here (PAL) with only a minor tweak on my DVD player. They played with no problem on the DVD player in my hotel room.

Mate, if you want the island experience, then Lemons is probably right about Koh Chang. But Samed is easier to get to. I'd recommend Malibu travel in soi 13/2 (post office). And take a companion with you. Read the hotels section to get an idea of whats available. Avoid anything out of town such as the clifftop. Until you know your way around, Residence Gardens is a bit out of the way too. Have a look at Lek or Sandy Springs, but be prepared for some noise. Get a rate, and be prepared to move after a day or two if you dont like it. First time OS you say? hmmm, Bangkok was my first time out of Oz. Expect the unexpected.
