  1. Which only shows that a meaningful and sensible answer is only possible if the full information is provided at the outset.
  2. Why go to Tucom? Sim cards are available in any convenience store. I note that many 7/11 stores also have boards with clearly printed cards with dozens of offers. Read them and take your pick. There are 2 caveats here. Does your hotel have good internet? If so you really don't need an expensive fast card. If however it doesn't then trying to use a slow card as a hot point is hard work. Seems to me also that unless you are travelling to the boonies most of the cards are much alike. If however you are going to be in the wop wops you need to take advice as to what card works best for your area. B
  3. I have mentioned this before but unsure if its the truth. There was a report that due to all the food and wastes in the beach area that it was attracting sea snakes. Truth or not I propose to stick to the hotel pool.
  4. Thanks for the comments. I agree that the last time I stayed at a Sabai property it was a bit tired but still good value for money. Sorry I cannot help you about a refurb. As for the Empress. It is new enough to be good but no, I have not stayed there. Excuse the repeat comment but I still think that in terms of location and within your price structure Soi Diana is worth doing some Agoda trawling.
  5. Right, where do I start. The pool area is small. There are very few loungers or seats and the only cover was a sail cloth possibly 4x4. I really felt sorry for the girls as you know what Thai girls and sunlight are like. If there was no space under the sail cloth they scuttled around trying to find a shaded spot. Just to add more pain the pool got a bug in and it closed down for a week or so. I had no issues with the room or the attitudes of the staff but for me the pool, or lack of it is a deal breaker and I would rather head back to Soi 2 and the Sabai properties. All I can tell yo
  6. Sorry but I cannot recommend the D. Stayed there once but not twice. Crap pool area. Suggest that you trawl Soi Diana. There is the Areca and two well recommended LK properties. Great locations. All the extras and girl friendly.
  7. Thanks. Your contribution to the Pattaya scene is appreciated. Merry Christmas and an optimistic New Year.
  8. The OP managed to get the package for 1300 baht a night in high season. Seems to be a good price. I had a look around the hotel a couple of years ago and was asked a lot more than that. I was happy with the location, room and the pool was ok. To get a decent modern hotel mid city at this price is a good deal. I wouldn't pay more than that. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  9. Unless there was a really good reason nothing would induce me to spend this sort of money on a meal, be it Christmas or whatever. Sure, if it were a family reunion or one of those times when the wife digs her heels in and refuses to cook, I could never justify that cost. I admit that this is based on recent experiences at the Queens Head in Soi Buakhao. I had the 199 baht Sunday meal a couple of times and it was all that I could do to clean the plate off and that was only by sheer gluttony. Three different meats and all sorts of vegetables, Yorkshire Pudding and a jug a Bisto. I had the sa
  10. Here is my contribution from mid October copied from my trip repart. Time about 7.45 PM. Then immigration had ZERO, NIL, NADA people waiting. I think that there is an element of luck here.
  11. As usual thanks for getting my day started with a chuckle and my appreciation. Keep them coming. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  12. Brits shuld feel concerned. Like it or not but because of the size and power of some airlines we tend to link the doing of the airline with the people of the country. BA does the British no favours at all. The same could be said about the fiasco on Americal earlier this year.
  13. I ate at Kiss on my last night in Thailand last week. The Thai food I had was fine and a bargain but the lady I was with said that her Thai food was not up to standard. She usually licks the design off the plate but left half the meal. I still think however that for less than 100 baht the club sandwich is about all I can manage and it is as tasty as many other higher priced ones I have had. For the price I believe Kiss is a great option. My meal by the way was sweet and sour prawns and rice and was the best of the three that I had bought during the four weeks there. 14. Just one other point. I may go to Chaos but I will not be returning to Kaos which stopped trying a long time ago. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  15. Went a couple of times but I was mostly on my own. The girls tried but nothing special on any level. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  16. Patna is a good host and I am happy to report that the place was rocking at the weekend. There are a lot of places doing it tough at the moment so the signs are good. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

  18. Well I guess that I would be interested in knowing if anyone here has seen someone shooting up on Pattaya Beach let alone finding a needle. The sea snake example was quoted from Lonely Planet. Keep up yourself.
  19. So? Because it MAY be a bigger POTENTIAL hazard does this mean that smoking is OK? That IMHO opinion is a bizarre response. Its like saying that "I don't know that the gun was loaded". I read recently that the amount off effluent in the bay is bringing in sea snakes so is that a reason to stop swimmers? The effluent in the water itself will probably get you quicker.
  20. I guess that I dont really care as the amount of rubbish on Pattaya Beach is horrendous now. I admit to occasionally taking a bag there and filling it up with glass and plastic etc. The only point that I would make is that this is yet another signal that smoking is a recognised health and environmental issue and that the walls are closing in world wide. Any smoker who cannot see this be it in his local pub, café, airport or place of work must be blind. Of one thing I think that we can all be sure and that is that it isn't going to get easier for smokers so the sooner they quit (or have a p
  21. Like many others will tell you, there is no wrong time to be in Thailand, especially Pattaya. Remember that the reason that so many people come to LOS at Songkran is that they enjoy the fun so that for every negative there will be a positive. As a personal thing for me its the so called, low season that suits me the best as I enjoy the lack of crowds in bars and clubs and the fact that prices are if not cheaper, are on hold and not inflated. In something like 40 trips to LOS I can honestly say that I never had a bad one as far as fun went. I was unlucky late last year when I got an eye infect
  22. I wish any new business in Pattaya good luck but there are so many 100 baht places that IMHO think do a great job in Soi Buakhao. They are mainly beside "Suicide Corner " and not just on Buakhao but also up the side streets. For 200 baht in these places I expect the full treatment and a shampoo.
  23. No slapping whatsoever. What is the use of just sitting back and saying nothing. How does this help the incoming manager? Offering feedback is a positive way to help Patna come to grips with negatives that ruined the place. It was difficult to get a seat here and if I recall correctly it even opened upstairs in order to get the crowd in. There in no more fun place than one that is fully functioning. 24. I for one am optimistic and as said I will always give it a try even because of its great recent history. However, seeing as now is the time for negative comments offered in the spirit of getting things right I offer the following. Sitting down with a couple of guys a couple of weeks ago and discussing the place the one comment that was much to the forefront was criticism of the Mamasan. She certainly lost me after an exchange where the only thing I recall was something like this. " I am the Mamasan and I am expensive and if you want to deal with me then it will cost you a lot of money". F
  25. I sent you a message earlier but it seems not to have been posted. All I have to add is to wish you good luck. This was a must do place to visit but lost it's heart and soul. I was there a few weeks ago and a quick draft was all it deserved. Remember that it is rarely the girls that do anything wrong. It those who manage them. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
