Thanks as usual for the review Evil. I would love to see places that dare to be different survive. I guess that this was my complaint about GASCO that there wasnt a sufficient point of difference for me to care. This place is however different and within a few metres of cheap noodle shops and the Hole in the Wall. If it can hold on till the French and Belgians start arriiving later in the year it should get a solid patronage.

Buying a replacement phone in Thailand
teelack replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I wish that I had your faith. I come to Thailand and drink, dance, carouse and I sure as hell am not the only person to lose their phone or have it run over on the road. All I can do is to state and offer to rationalise a point of view. You seem to be saying that it will never happen to you. Best of luck with that one. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk -
Buying a replacement phone in Thailand
teelack replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I have bought two copies in Patta from Tocom and both looked beautiful and were worthless. Totally a waste of money and time. Unless I lived here I would never buy a phone locally. Why give up waranty rights? Twin SIM phones.Never and here is why. Like others I have lost my phone in Thailand and didnt recover it. Luckily it only had my Thai SIM and not the home one. It took me time as I had to file a police report but AIS then supplied a duplicate SIM for me and I was back on track. Imagine the total disaster had I lost my home SIM. Also, as a precaution I always turn of Roaming Data in each respective country. Get this matter wrong and you can get hit with a shit load of bills. And finally, when I get home I always remove my SIM from the Thai phone. Everyone in Thailand has Line or Whatsapp and as I have heaps of date to spare at home l can get all my Thai messages, video calls etc for free. I can see zero reason for either buying a heap of shit phone or a double sim phone..Incidentally, having two phone exactly the same (Galaxy) allows me to use one as a battery charger. Another great reason for two phones as I always seem to be running the batteries down and they seem to take longer to charge in Thailand which I put down to lower voltage.. -
I will make this personal. Like you, peeing could be an issue and in Thailand I drink too much. Fortunately I wasnt in Thailand when the catalyst occured. One Saturday peeing stopped and I thought that it would as in the past, 'Come right" Wrong! I was admitted to hospital that night and the amount of piddle that the cathetered out of me was amazing. I had a day of reflection in hospital and realised that I was scared as hell of this happening in Thailand or indeed anywhere other than home and I took immediate action. Believe me, the complaint is worse thah the cure.

I have experience with what you have asked about. Thinking of a reply I decided not to give you one for the following reasons. I think that everyone will heve a different outcome and reaction to a TURPS op and even your surgeon will only be guessing. The issue isnt the operation, its about what you may be suffering without it. The only advice that I would give you is that if it is interfering with your life now and you dont have it sorted than I would rule out moving to Thailand.

what's going on with the edit function?
teelack replied to Butch's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Can I suggest that anyone doing a trip report or a long post use Word or whatever first. Simply copy and paste. Problems with editing do occur but at least you still have the basic post saved to docs. The other benefits are that you get to use the Spell checking and you can do the mail in chunks as you get the time and inspiration. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk -
Hua Hin International Jazz Festival
teelack replied to RhinoTusk's topic in Pictorial Travel Reports
Thanks for the essay. If anyone feels up to it I would appreciate some thoughts about the Pattaya/Hua Hin ferry trip. Is the Business Class worth the extra? How far/long say from the ferry terminal to say the Hilton and how do you travel it? Are there any smaller hotels in the same area that are OK? Any other info on things to see and do. -
I think that you will find that this is indeed Sutus Court. My thought is that it has a separate listing as Status because people get the spelling wrong. If you look at the Internet you can see this by checking the address. The reason that I make the point is that while you might struggle to find reviews of Status Court I have seen quite a lot for Sutus Court.
-
Because I am curious, where is this place? Couldn't be Sutus Court could it?
-
To prove the point I didnt even recall that you smoked.
-
Something that is never though that I would say. I was in a gogo bar for a party one night so it was full. Guy next to me stoked up his vapour and proceeded to blow cloud of seriously smelly smoke. I had no where to move to because of the crowd and suffered the stench. For the first time in years I thought that I quite liked cigarette smoke! I didn't know that the cloud of smoke could be that dense or the smell that bad. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

So's Place on Soi 15 Behind The Avenue
teelack replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Thanks for the review Evil. This is my sort of place where the cooking is personal and seems that the food looks authentic. I have been using places like this but the last two shut their doors and this looks like a good replacement. I also find that Thai girls are happy in unpretentious places like this and prefer the home made version to the restaurant sort. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk -
Best time of year to go to Pattaya?
teelack replied to Tucker_69er's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Well said. If it looks like rain then stay in an area that has a lot of bars. It may take hours to get back to your hotel but you will feel no pain when you arrive. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk -

The distance from Auckland to Bangkok is similar to UK to Bangkok. I just paid for my direct flight today and it was the lowest price I have had for years. Approx sterling $500 economy return. The problem with Thai is that they are never consistent with their prices and next week could have been 50 % more which is the standard price. As someone said, people will pay a premium for direct. That happened here and the result was daily flights rather than every other day. I think that the lower price reflects the extra seats that became available. Perhaps there is a moral to this story? The future of Pattayatalk - An open discussion
teelack replied to frostfire's topic in == Announcements ==
Frosty. Firstly, thanks for taking on the extra workload and keeping the forum running. For as number of us this is a life line to Pattaya when we are stuck somewhere else. I would suggest that the issue here is that you need a solution that will not burden you with work or take you into unfamiliar territory. Also the funding has to be on-going rather than a monthly fight for revenue. Lets also break down the cost. The cost of running the service equates to 150 baht per day approx. The question is who would benefit in Pattaya from a 150 baht a day investment in advertising? Any talk of members funding the forum a little bit at a time is a pipe dream and will soon die so it isn't the answer. If there is a wealthy punter out there then that would be great but I haven't seen anyone put their hand up since the FLB bar closed so I don't anticipate it now, There is a lot of combined knowledge and contacts out there. Look at people like Patna, Mr. Egg, Pattaya Pete etc. There must be people who know people prepared to spend 150 baht a day to advertise their business. As far as I can see you only need one sponsor as the administration would be bugger all. Surely there is one a'gogo, night club, hotel, tourist business etc who wants a solo outlet on a site like this? Bottom line is that if you are dealing with multiple donors or advertisers that admin will possibly drive you nuts. It has to be easy or it wont work. Besides reaching out to those people that we know could be interested, perhaps the other way to attract an advertiser would be for you to "Set the dogs on" the town. By this I mean let the boardies send out a prepared script by email to as many businesses as they can and see what happens. As you can see Frosty I am suggesting that the boardies do this rather than yourself. You do enough as it is and if you have to do tasks outside of your interests and expertise you will soon become disenchanted with the business. -

No problem. You are correct regarding the approx. million Dreamers who were bought to the US and have lived most of their lives there. They didn't ask for it but hey, send them back. Being right is having might I guess.
